1  And Adam¹²¹ knew^{3045 853} Eve²³³² his wife;⁸⁰² and she conceived,²⁰²⁹ and bore^{3205 853} Cain,⁷⁰¹⁴ and said,⁵⁵⁹ I have gotten⁷⁰⁶⁹ a man³⁷⁶ from⁸⁵⁴ the LORD.³⁰⁶⁸

2  And she again³²⁵⁴ bore^{3205 853} his brother^{251 853} Abel.¹⁸⁹³ And Abel¹⁸⁹³ was¹⁹⁶¹ a keeper⁷⁴⁶² of sheep,⁶⁶²⁹ but Cain⁷⁰¹⁴ was¹⁹⁶¹ a tiller⁵⁶⁴⁷ of the ground.¹²⁷

3  And in process^{4480 7093} of time³¹¹⁷ it came to pass,¹⁹⁶¹ that Cain⁷⁰¹⁴ brought⁹³⁵ of the fruit^{4480 6529} of the ground¹²⁷ an offering⁴⁵⁰³ unto the LORD.³⁰⁶⁸

4  And Abel,¹⁸⁹³ he¹⁹³¹ also¹⁵⁷¹ brought⁹³⁵ of the firstlings^{4480 1062} of his flock⁶⁶²⁹ and of the fat^{4480 2459} thereof. And the LORD³⁰⁶⁸ had respect⁸¹⁵⁹ unto⁴¹³ Abel¹⁸⁹³ and to⁴¹³ his offering:⁴⁵⁰³

5  But unto⁴¹³ Cain⁷⁰¹⁴ and to⁴¹³ his offering⁴⁵⁰³ he had not respect.^{8159 3808} And Cain⁷⁰¹⁴ was very³⁹⁶⁶ wroth,²⁷³⁴ and his countenance⁶⁴⁴⁰ fell.⁵³⁰⁷

6  And the LORD³⁰⁶⁸ said⁵⁵⁹ unto⁴¹³ Cain,⁷⁰¹⁴ Why⁴¹⁰⁰ art thou wroth?²⁷³⁴ and why⁴¹⁰⁰ is thy countenance⁶⁴⁴⁰ fallen?⁵³⁰⁷

7  If⁵¹⁸ thou doest well,³¹⁹⁰ shalt thou not³⁸⁰⁸ be accepted?⁷⁶¹³ and if⁵¹⁸ thou doest not³⁸⁰⁸ well,³¹⁹⁰ sin²⁴⁰³ lieth⁷²⁵⁷ at the door.⁶⁶⁰⁷ And unto⁴¹³ thee shall be his desire,⁸⁶⁶⁹ and thou⁸⁵⁹ shalt rule⁴⁹¹⁰ over him.

8  And Cain⁷⁰¹⁴ talked⁵⁵⁹ with⁴¹³ Abel¹⁸⁹³ his brother:²⁵¹ and it came to pass,¹⁹⁶¹ when they were¹⁹⁶¹ in the field,⁷⁷⁰⁴ that Cain⁷⁰¹⁴ rose up⁶⁹⁶⁵ against⁴¹³ Abel¹⁸⁹³ his brother,²⁵¹ and slew²⁰²⁶ him.

9  And the LORD³⁰⁶⁸ said⁵⁵⁹ unto⁴¹³ Cain,⁷⁰¹⁴ Where³³⁵ is Abel¹⁸⁹³ thy brother?²⁵¹ And he said,⁵⁵⁹ I know³⁰⁴⁵ not:³⁸⁰⁸ Am I⁵⁹⁵ my brother's²⁵¹ keeper?⁸¹⁰⁴

10  And he said,⁵⁵⁹ What⁴¹⁰⁰ hast thou done?⁶²¹³ the voice⁶⁹⁶³ of thy brother's²⁵¹ blood¹⁸¹⁸ crieth⁶⁸¹⁷ unto⁴¹³ me from⁴⁴⁸⁰ the ground.¹²⁷

11  And now⁶²⁵⁸ art thou⁸⁵⁹ cursed⁷⁷⁹ from⁴⁴⁸⁰ the earth,¹²⁷ which⁸³⁴ hath opened^{6475 853} her mouth⁶³¹⁰ to receive³⁹⁴⁷ thy brother's^{251 853} blood¹⁸¹⁸ from thy hand;^{4480 3027}

12  When³⁵⁸⁸ thou tillest^{5647 853} the ground,¹²⁷ it shall not³⁸⁰⁸ henceforth³²⁵⁴ yield⁵⁴¹⁴ unto thee her strength;³⁵⁸¹ a fugitive⁵¹²⁸ and a vagabond⁵¹¹⁰ shalt thou be¹⁹⁶¹ in the earth.⁷⁷⁶

13  And Cain⁷⁰¹⁴ said⁵⁵⁹ unto⁴¹³ the LORD,³⁰⁶⁸ My punishment⁵⁷⁷¹ is greater¹⁴¹⁹ than I can bear.^{4480 5375}

14  Behold,²⁰⁰⁵ thou hast driven me out^{1644 853} this day³¹¹⁷ from^{4480 5921} the face⁶⁴⁴⁰ of the earth;¹²⁷ and from thy face^{4480 6440} shall I be hid;⁵⁶⁴¹ and I shall be¹⁹⁶¹ a fugitive⁵¹²⁸ and a vagabond⁵¹¹⁰ in the earth;⁷⁷⁶ and it shall come to pass,¹⁹⁶¹ that every one³⁶⁰⁵ that findeth⁴⁶⁷² me shall slay²⁰²⁶ me.

15  And the LORD³⁰⁶⁸ said⁵⁵⁹ unto him, Therefore³⁶⁵¹ whosoever³⁶⁰⁵ slayeth²⁰²⁶ Cain,⁷⁰¹⁴ vengeance shall be taken⁵³⁵⁸ on him sevenfold.⁷⁶⁵⁹ And the LORD³⁰⁶⁸ set⁷⁷⁶⁰ a mark²²⁶ upon Cain,⁷⁰¹⁴ lest¹¹¹⁵ any³⁶⁰⁵ finding⁴⁶⁷² him should kill⁵²²¹ him.

16  And Cain⁷⁰¹⁴ went out³³¹⁸ from the presence^{4480 6440} of the LORD,³⁰⁶⁸ and dwelt³⁴²⁷ in the land⁷⁷⁶ of Nod,⁵¹¹³ on the east⁶⁹²⁶ of Eden.⁵⁷³¹

17  And Cain⁷⁰¹⁴ knew^{3045 853} his wife;⁸⁰² and she conceived,²⁰²⁹ and bore^{3205 853} Enoch:²⁵⁸⁵ and he built^{1961 1129} a city,⁵⁸⁹² and called⁷¹²¹ the name⁸⁰³⁴ of the city,⁵⁸⁹² after the name⁸⁰³⁴ of his son,¹¹²¹ Enoch.²⁵⁸⁵

18  And unto Enoch²⁵⁸⁵ was born^{3205 853} Irad:⁵⁸⁹⁷ and Irad⁵⁸⁹⁷ begot^{3205 853} Mehujael:⁴²³² and Mehujael⁴²³² begot^{3205 853} Methusael:⁴⁹⁶⁷ and Methusael⁴⁹⁶⁷ begot^{3205 853} Lamech.³⁹²⁹

19  And Lamech³⁹²⁹ took³⁹⁴⁷ unto him two⁸¹⁴⁷ wives:⁸⁰² the name⁸⁰³⁴ of the one²⁵⁹ was Adah,⁵⁷¹¹ and the name⁸⁰³⁴ of the other⁸¹⁴⁵ Zillah.⁶⁷⁴¹

20  And Adah⁵⁷¹¹ bore^{3205 853} Jabal:²⁹⁸⁹ he¹⁹³¹ was¹⁹⁶¹ the father¹ of such as dwell³⁴²⁷ in tents,¹⁶⁸ and of such as have cattle.⁴⁷³⁵

21  And his brother's²⁵¹ name⁸⁰³⁴ was Jubal:³¹⁰⁶ he¹⁹³¹ was¹⁹⁶¹ the father¹ of all³⁶⁰⁵ such as handle⁸⁶¹⁰ the harp³⁶⁵⁸ and organ.⁵⁷⁴⁸

22  And Zillah,⁶⁷⁴¹ she¹⁹³¹ also¹⁵⁷¹ bore^{3205 853} Tubal-cain,⁸⁴²³ an instructor³⁹¹³ of every³⁶⁰⁵ artificer²⁷⁹⁴ in brass⁵¹⁷⁸ and iron:¹²⁷⁰ and the sister²⁶⁹ of Tubal-cain⁸⁴²³ was Naamah.⁵²⁷⁹

23  And Lamech³⁹²⁹ said⁵⁵⁹ unto his wives,⁸⁰² Adah⁵⁷¹¹ and Zillah,⁶⁷⁴¹ Hear⁸⁰⁸⁵ my voice;⁶⁹⁶³ ye wives⁸⁰² of Lamech,³⁹²⁹ hearken²³⁸ unto my speech:⁵⁶⁵ for³⁵⁸⁸ I have slain²⁰²⁶ a man³⁷⁶ to my wounding,⁶⁴⁸² and a young man³²⁰⁶ to my hurt.²²⁵⁰

24  If³⁵⁸⁸ Cain⁷⁰¹⁴ shall be avenged⁵³⁵⁸ sevenfold,⁷⁶⁵⁹ truly Lamech³⁹²⁹ seventy⁷⁶⁵⁷ and sevenfold.⁷⁶⁵¹

25  And Adam¹²¹ knew^{3045 853} his wife⁸⁰² again;⁵⁷⁵⁰ and she bore³²⁰⁵ a son,¹¹²¹ and called⁷¹²¹ his ⁸⁵³ name⁸⁰³⁴ Seth:⁸³⁵² For³⁵⁸⁸ God,⁴³⁰ said she, hath appointed⁷⁸⁹⁶ me another³¹² seed²²³³ instead of⁸⁴⁷⁸ Abel,¹⁸⁹³ whom Cain⁷⁰¹⁴ slew.²⁰²⁶

26  And to Seth,⁸³⁵² to him¹⁹³¹ also¹⁵⁷¹ there was born³²⁰⁵ a son;¹¹²¹ and he called^{7121 853} his name⁸⁰³⁴ Enos:⁵⁸³ then²²⁷ began²⁴⁹⁰ men to call⁷¹²¹ upon the name⁸⁰³⁴ of the LORD.³⁰⁶⁸

1 Αδαμ δὲ ἔγνω Ευαν τὴν γυναῖκα αὐτοῦ καὶ συλλαβοῦσα ἔτεκεν τὸν Καιν καὶ εἶπεν ἐκτησάμην ἄνθρωπον διὰ τοῦ θεοῦ

2 καὶ προσέθηκεν τεκεῖν τὸν ἀδελφὸν αὐτοῦ τὸν Αβελ καὶ ἐγένετο Αβελ ποιμὴν προβάτων Καιν δὲ ἦν ἐργαζόμενος τὴν γῆν

3 καὶ ἐγένετο μεθ᾽ ἡμέρας ἤνεγκεν Καιν ἀπὸ τῶν καρπῶν τῆς γῆς θυσίαν τῷ κυρίῳ

4 καὶ Αβελ ἤνεγκεν καὶ αὐτὸς ἀπὸ τῶν πρωτοτόκων τῶν προβάτων αὐτοῦ καὶ ἀπὸ τῶν στεάτων αὐτῶν καὶ ἐπεῖδεν ὁ θεὸς ἐπὶ Αβελ καὶ ἐπὶ τοῖς δώροις αὐτοῦ

5 ἐπὶ δὲ Καιν καὶ ἐπὶ ταῖς θυσίαις αὐτοῦ οὐ προσέσχεν καὶ ἐλύπησεν τὸν Καιν λίαν καὶ συνέπεσεν τῷ προσώπῳ

6 καὶ εἶπεν κύριος ὁ θεὸς τῷ Καιν ἵνα τί περίλυπος ἐγένου καὶ ἵνα τί συνέπεσεν τὸ πρόσωπόν σου

7 οὐκ ἐὰν ὀρθῶς προσενέγκῃς ὀρθῶς δὲ μὴ διέλῃς ἥμαρτες ἡσύχασον πρὸς σὲ ἡ ἀποστροφὴ αὐτοῦ καὶ σὺ ἄρξεις αὐτοῦ

8 καὶ εἶπεν Καιν πρὸς Αβελ τὸν ἀδελφὸν αὐτοῦ διέλθωμεν εἰς τὸ πεδίον καὶ ἐγένετο ἐν τῷ εἶναι αὐτοὺς ἐν τῷ πεδίῳ καὶ ἀνέστη Καιν ἐπὶ Αβελ τὸν ἀδελφὸν αὐτοῦ καὶ ἀπέκτεινεν αὐτόν

9 καὶ εἶπεν ὁ θεὸς πρὸς Καιν ποῦ ἐστιν Αβελ ὁ ἀδελφός σου ὁ δὲ εἶπεν οὐ γινώσκω μὴ φύλαξ τοῦ ἀδελφοῦ μού εἰμι ἐγώ

10 καὶ εἶπεν ὁ θεός τί ἐποίησας φωνὴ αἵματος τοῦ ἀδελφοῦ σου βοᾷ πρός με ἐκ τῆς γῆς

11 καὶ νῦν ἐπικατάρατος σὺ ἀπὸ τῆς γῆς ἣ ἔχανεν τὸ στόμα αὐτῆς δέξασθαι τὸ αἷμα τοῦ ἀδελφοῦ σου ἐκ τῆς χειρός σου

12 ὅτι ἐργᾷ τὴν γῆν καὶ οὐ προσθήσει τὴν ἰσχὺν αὐτῆς δοῦναί σοι στένων καὶ τρέμων ἔσῃ ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς

13 καὶ εἶπεν Καιν πρὸς τὸν κύριον μείζων ἡ αἰτία μου τοῦ ἀφεθῆναί με

14 εἰ ἐκβάλλεις με σήμερον ἀπὸ προσώπου τῆς γῆς καὶ ἀπὸ τοῦ προσώπου σου κρυβήσομαι καὶ ἔσομαι στένων καὶ τρέμων ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς καὶ ἔσται πᾶς ὁ εὑρίσκων με ἀποκτενεῖ με

15 καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ κύριος ὁ θεός οὐχ οὕτως πᾶς ὁ ἀποκτείνας Καιν ἑπτὰ ἐκδικούμενα παραλύσει καὶ ἔθετο κύριος ὁ θεὸς σημεῖον τῷ Καιν τοῦ μὴ ἀνελεῖν αὐτὸν πάντα τὸν εὑρίσκοντα αὐτόν

16 ἐξῆλθεν δὲ Καιν ἀπὸ προσώπου τοῦ θεοῦ καὶ ᾤκησεν ἐν γῇ Ναιδ κατέναντι Εδεμ

17 καὶ ἔγνω Καιν τὴν γυναῖκα αὐτοῦ καὶ συλλαβοῦσα ἔτεκεν τὸν Ενωχ καὶ ἦν οἰκοδομῶν πόλιν καὶ ἐπωνόμασεν τὴν πόλιν ἐπὶ τῷ ὀνόματι τοῦ υἱοῦ αὐτοῦ Ενωχ

18 ἐγενήθη δὲ τῷ Ενωχ Γαιδαδ καὶ Γαιδαδ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Μαιηλ καὶ Μαιηλ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Μαθουσαλα καὶ Μαθουσαλα ἐγέννησεν τὸν Λαμεχ

19 καὶ ἔλαβεν ἑαυτῷ Λαμεχ δύο γυναῖκας ὄνομα τῇ μιᾷ Αδα καὶ ὄνομα τῇ δευτέρᾳ Σελλα

20 καὶ ἔτεκεν Αδα τὸν Ιωβελ οὗτος ἦν ὁ πατὴρ οἰκούντων ἐν σκηναῖς κτηνοτρόφων

21 καὶ ὄνομα τῷ ἀδελφῷ αὐτοῦ Ιουβαλ οὗτος ἦν ὁ καταδείξας ψαλτήριον καὶ κιθάραν

22 Σελλα δὲ ἔτεκεν καὶ αὐτὴ τὸν Θοβελ καὶ ἦν σφυροκόπος χαλκεὺς χαλκοῦ καὶ σιδήρου ἀδελφὴ δὲ Θοβελ Νοεμα

23 εἶπεν δὲ Λαμεχ ταῖς ἑαυτοῦ γυναιξίν Αδα καὶ Σελλα ἀκούσατέ μου τῆς φωνῆς γυναῖκες Λαμεχ ἐνωτίσασθέ μου τοὺς λόγους ὅτι ἄνδρα ἀπέκτεινα εἰς τραῦμα ἐμοὶ καὶ νεανίσκον εἰς μώλωπα ἐμοί

24 ὅτι ἑπτάκις ἐκδεδίκηται ἐκ Καιν ἐκ δὲ Λαμεχ ἑβδομηκοντάκις ἑπτά

25 ἔγνω δὲ Αδαμ Ευαν τὴν γυναῖκα αὐτοῦ καὶ συλλαβοῦσα ἔτεκεν υἱὸν καὶ ἐπωνόμασεν τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ Σηθ λέγουσα ἐξανέστησεν γάρ μοι ὁ θεὸς σπέρμα ἕτερον ἀντὶ Αβελ ὃν ἀπέκτεινεν Καιν

26 καὶ τῷ Σηθ ἐγένετο υἱός ἐπωνόμασεν δὲ τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ Ενως οὗτος ἤλπισεν ἐπικαλεῖσθαι τὸ ὄνομα κυρίου τοῦ θεοῦ

‎1 ‏וְהָ֣אָדָ֔ם יָדַ֖ע אֶת־חַוָּ֣ה אִשְׁתּ֑וֹ וַתַּ֙הַר֙ וַתֵּ֣לֶד אֶת־קַ֔יִן וַתֹּ֕אמֶר קָנִ֥יתִי אִ֖ישׁ אֶת־יְהוָֽה׃

‎2 ‏וַתֹּ֣סֶף לָלֶ֔דֶת אֶת־אָחִ֖יו אֶת־הָ֑בֶל וַֽיְהִי־הֶ֙בֶל֙ רֹ֣עֵה צֹ֔אן וְקַ֕יִן הָיָ֖ה עֹבֵ֥ד אֲדָמָֽה׃

‎3 ‏וַֽיְהִ֖י מִקֵּ֣ץ יָמִ֑ים וַיָּבֵ֨א קַ֜יִן מִפְּרִ֧י הָֽאֲדָמָ֛ה מִנְחָ֖ה לַֽיהוָֽה׃

‎4 ‏וְהֶ֨בֶל הֵבִ֥יא גַם־ה֛וּא מִבְּכֹר֥וֹת צֹאנ֖וֹ וּמֵֽחֶלְבֵהֶ֑ן וַיִּ֣שַׁע יְהוָ֔ה אֶל־הֶ֖בֶל וְאֶל־מִנְחָתֽוֹ׃

‎5 ‏וְאֶל־קַ֥יִן וְאֶל־מִנְחָת֖וֹ לֹ֣א שָׁעָ֑ה וַיִּ֤חַר לְקַ֙יִן֙ מְאֹ֔ד וַֽיִּפְּל֖וּ פָּנָֽיו׃

‎6 ‏וַיֹּ֥אמֶר יְהוָ֖ה אֶל־קָ֑יִן לָ֚מָּה חָ֣רָה לָ֔ךְ וְלָ֖מָּה נָפְל֥וּ פָנֶֽיךָ׃

‎7 ‏הֲל֤וֹא אִם־תֵּיטִיב֙ שְׂאֵ֔ת וְאִם֙ לֹ֣א תֵיטִ֔יב לַפֶּ֖תַח חַטָּ֣את רֹבֵ֑ץ וְאֵלֶ֙יךָ֙ תְּשׁ֣וּקָת֔וֹ וְאַתָּ֖ה תִּמְשָׁל־בּֽוֹ׃

‎8 ‏וַיֹּ֥אמֶר קַ֖יִן אֶל־הֶ֣בֶל אָחִ֑יו וַֽיְהִי֙ בִּהְיוֹתָ֣ם בַּשָּׂדֶ֔ה וַיָּ֥קָם קַ֛יִן אֶל־הֶ֥בֶל אָחִ֖יו וַיַּהַרְגֵֽהוּ׃

‎9 ‏וַיֹּ֤אמֶר יְהוָה֙ אֶל־קַ֔יִן אֵ֖י הֶ֣בֶל אָחִ֑יךָ וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ לֹ֣א יָדַ֔עְתִּי הֲשֹׁמֵ֥ר אָחִ֖י אָנֹֽכִי׃

‎10 ‏וַיֹּ֖אמֶר מֶ֣ה עָשִׂ֑יתָ ק֚וֹל דְּמֵ֣י אָחִ֔יךָ צֹעֲקִ֥ים אֵלַ֖י מִן־הָֽאֲדָמָֽה׃

‎11 ‏וְעַתָּ֖ה אָר֣וּר אָ֑תָּה מִן־הָֽאֲדָמָה֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר פָּצְתָ֣ה אֶת־פִּ֔יהָ לָקַ֛חַת אֶת־דְּמֵ֥י אָחִ֖יךָ מִיָּדֶֽךָ׃

‎12 ‏כִּ֤י תַֽעֲבֹד֙ אֶת־הָ֣אֲדָמָ֔ה לֹֽא־תֹסֵ֥ף תֵּת־כֹּחָ֖הּ לָ֑ךְ נָ֥ע וָנָ֖ד תִּֽהְיֶ֥ה בָאָֽרֶץ׃

‎13 ‏וַיֹּ֥אמֶר קַ֖יִן אֶל־יְהוָ֑ה גָּד֥וֹל עֲוֹנִ֖י מִנְּשֹֽׂא׃

‎14 ‏הֵן֩ גֵּרַ֨שְׁתָּ אֹתִ֜י הַיּ֗וֹם מֵעַל֙ פְּנֵ֣י הָֽאֲדָמָ֔ה וּמִפָּנֶ֖יךָ אֶסָּתֵ֑ר וְהָיִ֜יתִי נָ֤ע וָנָד֙ בָּאָ֔רֶץ וְהָיָ֥ה כָל־מֹצְאִ֖י יַֽהַרְגֵֽנִי׃

‎15 ‏וַיֹּ֧אמֶר ל֣וֹ יְהוָ֗ה לָכֵן֙ כָּל־הֹרֵ֣ג קַ֔יִן שִׁבְעָתַ֖יִם יֻקָּ֑ם וַיָּ֨שֶׂם יְהוָ֤ה לְקַ֙יִן֙ א֔וֹת לְבִלְתִּ֥י הַכּוֹת־אֹת֖וֹ כָּל־מֹצְאֽוֹ׃

‎16 ‏וַיֵּ֥צֵא קַ֖יִן מִלִּפְנֵ֣י יְהוָ֑ה וַיֵּ֥שֶׁב בְּאֶֽרֶץ־נ֖וֹד קִדְמַת־עֵֽדֶן׃

‎17 ‏וַיֵּ֤דַע קַ֙יִן֙ אֶת־אִשְׁתּ֔וֹ וַתַּ֖הַר וַתֵּ֣לֶד אֶת־חֲנ֑וֹךְ וַֽיְהִי֙ בֹּ֣נֶה עִ֔יר וַיִּקְרָא֙ שֵׁ֣ם הָעִ֔יר כְּשֵׁ֖ם בְּנ֥וֹ חֲנֽוֹךְ׃

‎18 ‏וַיִּוָּלֵ֤ד לַֽחֲנוֹךְ֙ אֶת־עִירָ֔ד וְעִירָ֕ד יָלַ֖ד אֶת־מְחֽוּיָאֵ֑ל וּמְחִיּיָאֵ֗ל יָלַד֙ אֶת־מְת֣וּשָׁאֵ֔ל וּמְתוּשָׁאֵ֖ל יָלַ֥ד אֶת־לָֽמֶךְ׃

‎19 ‏וַיִּֽקַּֽח־ל֥וֹ לֶ֖מֶךְ שְׁתֵּ֣י נָשִׁ֑ים שֵׁ֤ם הָֽאַחַת֙ עָדָ֔ה וְשֵׁ֥ם הַשֵּׁנִ֖ית צִלָּֽה׃

‎20 ‏וַתֵּ֥לֶד עָדָ֖ה אֶת־יָבָ֑ל ה֣וּא הָיָ֔ה אֲבִ֕י יֹשֵׁ֥ב אֹ֖הֶל וּמִקְנֶֽה׃

‎21 ‏וְשֵׁ֥ם אָחִ֖יו יוּבָ֑ל ה֣וּא הָיָ֔ה אֲבִ֕י כָּל־תֹּפֵ֥שׂ כִּנּ֖וֹר וְעוּגָֽב׃

‎22 ‏וְצִלָּ֣ה גַם־הִ֗וא יָֽלְדָה֙ אֶת־תּ֣וּבַל קַ֔יִן לֹטֵ֕שׁ כָּל־חֹרֵ֥שׁ נְחֹ֖שֶׁת וּבַרְזֶ֑ל וַֽאֲח֥וֹת תּֽוּבַל־קַ֖יִן נַֽעֲמָֽה׃

‎23 ‏וַיֹּ֨אמֶר לֶ֜מֶךְ לְנָשָׁ֗יו עָדָ֤ה וְצִלָּה֙ שְׁמַ֣עַן קוֹלִ֔י נְשֵׁ֣י לֶ֔מֶךְ הַאְזֵ֖נָּה אִמְרָתִ֑י כִּ֣י אִ֤ישׁ הָרַ֙גְתִּי֙ לְפִצְעִ֔י וְיֶ֖לֶד לְחַבֻּרָתִֽי׃

‎24 ‏כִּ֥י שִׁבְעָתַ֖יִם יֻקַּם־קָ֑יִן וְלֶ֖מֶךְ שִׁבְעִ֥ים וְשִׁבְעָֽה׃

‎25 ‏וַיֵּ֨דַע אָדָ֥ם עוֹד֙ אֶת־אִשְׁתּ֔וֹ וַתֵּ֣לֶד בֵּ֔ן וַתִּקְרָ֥א אֶת־שְׁמ֖וֹ שֵׁ֑ת כִּ֣י שָֽׁת־לִ֤י אֱלֹהִים֙ זֶ֣רַע אַחֵ֔ר תַּ֣חַת הֶ֔בֶל כִּ֥י הֲרָג֖וֹ קָֽיִן׃

‎26 ‏וּלְשֵׁ֤ת גַּם־הוּא֙ יֻלַּד־בֵּ֔ן וַיִּקְרָ֥א אֶת־שְׁמ֖וֹ אֱנ֑וֹשׁ אָ֣ז הוּחַ֔ל לִקְרֹ֖א בְּשֵׁ֥ם יְהוָֽה׃ פ

Vul

1 Adam vero cognovit uxorem suam Hevam, quæ concepit et peperit Cain, dicens: Possedi hominem per Deum.

2 Rursumque peperit fratrem ejus Abel. Fuit autem Abel pastor ovium, et Cain agricola.

3 Factum est autem post multos dies ut offerret Cain de fructibus terræ munera Domino.

4 Abel quoque obtulit de primogenitis gregis sui, et de adipibus eorum: et respexit Dominus ad Abel, et ad munera ejus.

5 Ad Cain vero, et ad munera illius non respexit: iratusque est Cain vehementer, et concidit vultus ejus.

6 Dixitque Dominus ad eum: Quare iratus es? et cur concidit facies tua?

7 nonne si bene egeris, recipies: sin autem male, statim in foribus peccatum aderit? sed sub te erit appetitus ejus, et tu dominaberis illius.

8 Dixitque Cain ad Abel fratrem suum: Egrediamur foras. Cumque essent in agro, consurrexit Cain adversus fratrem suum Abel, et interfecit eum.

9 Et ait Dominus ad Cain: Ubi est Abel frater tuus? Qui respondit: Nescio: num custos fratris mei sum ego?

10 Dixitque ad eum: Quid fecisti? vox sanguinis fratris tui clamat ad me de terra.

11 Nunc igitur maledictus eris super terram, quæ aperuit os suum, et suscepit sanguinem fratris tui de manu tua.

12 Cum operatus fueris eam, non dabit tibi fructus suos: vagus et profugus eris super terram.

13 Dixitque Cain ad Dominum: Major est iniquitas mea, quam ut veniam merear.

14 Ecce ejicis me hodie a facie terræ, et a facie tua abscondar, et ero vagus et profugus in terra: omnis igitur qui invenerit me, occidet me.

15 Dixitque ei Dominus: Nequaquam ita fiet: sed omnis qui occiderit Cain, septuplum punietur. Posuitque Dominus Cain signum, ut non interficeret eum omnis qui invenisset eum.

16 Egressusque Cain a facie Domini, habitavit profugus in terra ad orientalem plagam Eden.

17 Cognovit autem Cain uxorem suam, quæ concepit, et peperit Henoch: et ædificavit civitatem, vocavitque nomen ejus ex nomine filii sui, Henoch.

18 Porro Henoch genuit Irad, et Irad genuit Maviaël, et Maviaël genuit Mathusaël, et Mathusaël genuit Lamech.

19 Qui accepit duas uxores, nomen uni Ada, et nomen alteri Sella.

20 Genuitque Ada Jabel, qui fuit pater habitantium in tentoriis, atque pastorum.

21 Et nomen fratris ejus Jubal: ipse fuit pater canentium cithara et organo.

22 Sella quoque genuit Tubalcain, qui fuit malleator et faber in cuncta opera æris et ferri. Soror vero Tubalcain, Noëma.

23 Dixitque Lamech uxoribus suis Adæ et Sellæ: [Audite vocem meam, uxores Lamech;
auscultate sermonem meum:
quoniam occidi virum in vulnus meum,
et adolescentulum in livorem meum.

24 Septuplum ultio dabitur de Cain:
de Lamech vero septuagies septies.]

25 Cognovit quoque adhuc Adam uxorem suam: et peperit filium, vocavitque nomen ejus Seth, dicens: Posuit mihi Deus semen aliud pro Abel, quem occidit Cain.

26 Sed et Seth natus est filius, quem vocavit Enos: iste cœpit invocare nomen Domini.
