1  And Abram⁸⁷ went up⁵⁹²⁷ out of Egypt,^{4480 4714} he,¹⁹³¹ and his wife,⁸⁰² and all³⁶⁰⁵ that⁸³⁴ he had, and Lot³⁸⁷⁶ with⁵⁹⁷³ him, into the south.⁵⁰⁴⁵

2  And Abram⁸⁷ was very³⁹⁶⁶ rich³⁵¹⁵ in cattle,⁴⁷³⁵ in silver,³⁷⁰¹ and in gold.²⁰⁹¹

3  And he went¹⁹⁸⁰ on his journeys⁴⁵⁵⁰ from the south^{4480 5045} even to⁵⁷⁰⁴ Bethel,¹⁰⁰⁸ unto⁵⁷⁰⁴ the place⁴⁷²⁵ where^{834 8033} his tent¹⁶⁸ had been¹⁹⁶¹ at the beginning,⁸⁴⁶² between⁹⁹⁶ Bethel¹⁰⁰⁸ and Hai;⁵⁸⁵⁷

4  Unto⁴¹³ the place⁴⁷²⁵ of the altar,⁴¹⁹⁶ which⁸³⁴ he had made⁶²¹³ there⁸⁰³³ at the first:⁷²²³ and there⁸⁰³³ Abram⁸⁷ called⁷¹²¹ on the name⁸⁰³⁴ of the LORD.³⁰⁶⁸

5  And Lot³⁸⁷⁶ also,¹⁵⁷¹ which went¹⁹⁸⁰ with⁸⁵⁴ Abram,⁸⁷ had¹⁹⁶¹ flocks,⁶⁶²⁹ and herds,¹²⁴¹ and tents.¹⁶⁸

6  And the land⁷⁷⁶ was not³⁸⁰⁸ able to bear⁵³⁷⁵ them, that they might dwell³⁴²⁷ together:³¹⁶² for³⁵⁸⁸ their substance⁷³⁹⁹ was¹⁹⁶¹ great,⁷²²⁷ so that they could³²⁰¹ not³⁸⁰⁸ dwell³⁴²⁷ together.³¹⁶²

7  And there was¹⁹⁶¹ a strife⁷³⁷⁹ between⁹⁹⁶ the herdsmen⁷⁴⁶² of Abram's⁸⁷ cattle⁴⁷³⁵ and the herdsmen⁷⁴⁶² of Lot's³⁸⁷⁶ cattle:⁴⁷³⁵ and the Canaanite³⁶⁶⁹ and the Perizzite⁶⁵²² dwelled³⁴²⁷ then²²⁷ in the land.⁷⁷⁶

8  And Abram⁸⁷ said⁵⁵⁹ unto⁴¹³ Lot,³⁸⁷⁶ Let there be¹⁹⁶¹ no⁴⁰⁸ strife,⁴⁸⁰⁸ I pray thee,⁴⁹⁹⁴ between⁹⁹⁶ me and thee, and between⁹⁹⁶ my herdsmen⁷⁴⁶² and thy herdsmen;⁷⁴⁶² for³⁵⁸⁸ we⁵⁸⁷ be brethren.²⁵¹

9  Is not³⁸⁰⁸ the whole³⁶⁰⁵ land⁷⁷⁶ before⁶⁴⁴⁰ thee? separate thyself,⁶⁵⁰⁴ I pray thee,⁴⁹⁹⁴ from^{4480 5921} me: if⁵¹⁸ thou wilt take the left hand,⁸⁰⁴⁰ then I will go to the right;³²³¹ or if⁵¹⁸ thou depart to the right hand,³²²⁵ then I will go to the left.⁸⁰⁴¹

10  And Lot³⁸⁷⁶ lifted up^{5375 853} his eyes,⁵⁸⁶⁹ and beheld^{7200 853} all³⁶⁰⁵ the plain³⁶⁰³ of Jordan,³³⁸³ that³⁵⁸⁸ it was well watered⁴⁹⁴⁵ every where,³⁶⁰⁵ before⁶⁴⁴⁰ the LORD³⁰⁶⁸ destroyed^{7843 853} Sodom⁵⁴⁶⁷ and Gomorrah,⁶⁰¹⁷ even as the garden¹⁵⁸⁸ of the LORD,³⁰⁶⁸ like the land⁷⁷⁶ of Egypt,⁴⁷¹⁴ as thou comest⁹³⁵ unto Zoar.⁶⁸²⁰

11  Then Lot³⁸⁷⁶ chose⁹⁷⁷ him ⁸⁵³ all³⁶⁰⁵ the plain³⁶⁰³ of Jordan;³³⁸³ and Lot³⁸⁷⁶ journeyed⁵²⁶⁵ east:^{4480 6924} and they separated themselves⁶⁵⁰⁴ the one³⁷⁶ from^{4480 5921} the other.²⁵¹

12  Abram⁸⁷ dwelled³⁴²⁷ in the land⁷⁷⁶ of Canaan,³⁶⁶⁷ and Lot³⁸⁷⁶ dwelled³⁴²⁷ in the cities⁵⁸⁹² of the plain,³⁶⁰³ and pitched his tent¹⁶⁷ toward⁵⁷⁰⁴ Sodom.⁵⁴⁶⁷

13  But the men³⁷⁶ of Sodom⁵⁴⁶⁷ were wicked⁷⁴⁵¹ and sinners²⁴⁰⁰ before the LORD³⁰⁶⁸ exceedingly.³⁹⁶⁶

14  And the LORD³⁰⁶⁸ said⁵⁵⁹ unto⁴¹³ Abram,⁸⁷ after that³¹⁰ Lot³⁸⁷⁶ was separated⁶⁵⁰⁴ from^{4480 5973} him, Lift up⁵³⁷⁵ now⁴⁹⁹⁴ thine eyes,⁵⁸⁶⁹ and look⁷²⁰⁰ from⁴⁴⁸⁰ the place⁴⁷²⁵ where^{834 8033} thou⁸⁵⁹ art northward,⁶⁸²⁸ and southward,⁵⁰⁴⁵ and eastward,⁶⁹²⁴ and westward:³²²⁰

15  For^{3588 853} all³⁶⁰⁵ the land⁷⁷⁶ which⁸³⁴ thou⁸⁵⁹ seest,⁷²⁰⁰ to thee will I give⁵⁴¹⁴ it, and to thy seed²²³³ forever.^{5704 5769}

16  And I will make^{7760 853} thy seed²²³³ as the dust⁶⁰⁸³ of the earth:⁷⁷⁶ so that⁸³⁴ if⁵¹⁸ a man³⁷⁶ can³²⁰¹ number^{4487 853} the dust⁶⁰⁸³ of the earth,⁷⁷⁶ then shall thy seed²²³³ also¹⁵⁷¹ be numbered.⁴⁴⁸⁷

17  Arise,⁶⁹⁶⁵ walk¹⁹⁸⁰ through the land⁷⁷⁶ in the length⁷⁵³ of it and in the breadth⁷³⁴¹ of it; for³⁵⁸⁸ I will give⁵⁴¹⁴ it unto thee.

18  Then Abram⁸⁷ removed his tent,¹⁶⁷ and came⁹³⁵ and dwelt³⁴²⁷ in the plain⁴³⁶ of Mamre,⁴⁴⁷¹ which⁸³⁴ is in Hebron,²²⁷⁵ and built¹¹²⁹ there⁸⁰³³ an altar⁴¹⁹⁶ unto the LORD.³⁰⁶⁸

1 ἀνέβη δὲ Αβραμ ἐξ Αἰγύπτου αὐτὸς καὶ ἡ γυνὴ αὐτοῦ καὶ πάντα τὰ αὐτοῦ καὶ Λωτ μετ᾽ αὐτοῦ εἰς τὴν ἔρημον

2 Αβραμ δὲ ἦν πλούσιος σφόδρα κτήνεσιν καὶ ἀργυρίῳ καὶ χρυσίῳ

3 καὶ ἐπορεύθη ὅθεν ἦλθεν εἰς τὴν ἔρημον ἕως Βαιθηλ ἕως τοῦ τόπου οὗ ἦν ἡ σκηνὴ αὐτοῦ τὸ πρότερον ἀνὰ μέσον Βαιθηλ καὶ ἀνὰ μέσον Αγγαι

4 εἰς τὸν τόπον τοῦ θυσιαστηρίου οὗ ἐποίησεν ἐκεῖ τὴν ἀρχήν καὶ ἐπεκαλέσατο ἐκεῖ Αβραμ τὸ ὄνομα κυρίου

5 καὶ Λωτ τῷ συμπορευομένῳ μετὰ Αβραμ ἦν πρόβατα καὶ βόες καὶ σκηναί

6 καὶ οὐκ ἐχώρει αὐτοὺς ἡ γῆ κατοικεῖν ἅμα ὅτι ἦν τὰ ὑπάρχοντα αὐτῶν πολλά καὶ οὐκ ἐδύναντο κατοικεῖν ἅμα

7 καὶ ἐγένετο μάχη ἀνὰ μέσον τῶν ποιμένων τῶν κτηνῶν τοῦ Αβραμ καὶ ἀνὰ μέσον τῶν ποιμένων τῶν κτηνῶν τοῦ Λωτ οἱ δὲ Χαναναῖοι καὶ οἱ Φερεζαῖοι τότε κατῴκουν τὴν γῆν

8 εἶπεν δὲ Αβραμ τῷ Λωτ μὴ ἔστω μάχη ἀνὰ μέσον ἐμοῦ καὶ σοῦ καὶ ἀνὰ μέσον τῶν ποιμένων μου καὶ ἀνὰ μέσον τῶν ποιμένων σου ὅτι ἄνθρωποι ἀδελφοὶ ἡμεῖς ἐσμεν

9 οὐκ ἰδοὺ πᾶσα ἡ γῆ ἐναντίον σού ἐστιν διαχωρίσθητι ἀπ᾽ ἐμοῦ εἰ σὺ εἰς ἀριστερά ἐγὼ εἰς δεξιά εἰ δὲ σὺ εἰς δεξιά ἐγὼ εἰς ἀριστερά

10 καὶ ἐπάρας Λωτ τοὺς ὀφθαλμοὺς αὐτοῦ εἶδεν πᾶσαν τὴν περίχωρον τοῦ Ιορδάνου ὅτι πᾶσα ἦν ποτιζομένη πρὸ τοῦ καταστρέψαι τὸν θεὸν Σοδομα καὶ Γομορρα ὡς ὁ παράδεισος τοῦ θεοῦ καὶ ὡς ἡ γῆ Αἰγύπτου ἕως ἐλθεῖν εἰς Ζογορα

11 καὶ ἐξελέξατο ἑαυτῷ Λωτ πᾶσαν τὴν περίχωρον τοῦ Ιορδάνου καὶ ἀπῆρεν Λωτ ἀπὸ ἀνατολῶν καὶ διεχωρίσθησαν ἕκαστος ἀπὸ τοῦ ἀδελφοῦ αὐτοῦ

12 Αβραμ δὲ κατῴκησεν ἐν γῇ Χανααν Λωτ δὲ κατῴκησεν ἐν πόλει τῶν περιχώρων καὶ ἐσκήνωσεν ἐν Σοδομοις

13 οἱ δὲ ἄνθρωποι οἱ ἐν Σοδομοις πονηροὶ καὶ ἁμαρτωλοὶ ἐναντίον τοῦ θεοῦ σφόδρα

14 ὁ δὲ θεὸς εἶπεν τῷ Αβραμ μετὰ τὸ διαχωρισθῆναι τὸν Λωτ ἀπ᾽ αὐτοῦ ἀναβλέψας τοῖς ὀφθαλμοῖς σου ἰδὲ ἀπὸ τοῦ τόπου οὗ νῦν σὺ εἶ πρὸς βορρᾶν καὶ λίβα καὶ ἀνατολὰς καὶ θάλασσαν

15 ὅτι πᾶσαν τὴν γῆν ἣν σὺ ὁρᾷς σοὶ δώσω αὐτὴν καὶ τῷ σπέρματί σου ἕως τοῦ αἰῶνος

16 καὶ ποιήσω τὸ σπέρμα σου ὡς τὴν ἄμμον τῆς γῆς εἰ δύναταί τις ἐξαριθμῆσαι τὴν ἄμμον τῆς γῆς καὶ τὸ σπέρμα σου ἐξαριθμηθήσεται

17 ἀναστὰς διόδευσον τὴν γῆν εἴς τε τὸ μῆκος αὐτῆς καὶ εἰς τὸ πλάτος ὅτι σοὶ δώσω αὐτήν

18 καὶ ἀποσκηνώσας Αβραμ ἐλθὼν κατῴκησεν παρὰ τὴν δρῦν τὴν Μαμβρη ἣ ἦν ἐν Χεβρων καὶ ᾠκοδόμησεν ἐκεῖ θυσιαστήριον κυρίῳ

‎1 ‏וַיַּעַל֩ אַבְרָ֨ם מִמִּצְרַ֜יִם ה֠וּא וְאִשְׁתּ֧וֹ וְכָל־אֲשֶׁר־ל֛וֹ וְל֥וֹט עִמּ֖וֹ הַנֶּֽגְבָּה׃

‎2 ‏וְאַבְרָ֖ם כָּבֵ֣ד מְאֹ֑ד בַּמִּקְנֶ֕ה בַּכֶּ֖סֶף וּבַזָּהָֽב׃

‎3 ‏וַיֵּ֙לֶךְ֙ לְמַסָּעָ֔יו מִנֶּ֖גֶב וְעַד־בֵּֽית־אֵ֑ל עַד־הַמָּק֗וֹם אֲשֶׁר־הָ֨יָה שָׁ֤ם אהלה אָֽהֳלוֹ֙ בַּתְּחִלָּ֔ה בֵּ֥ין בֵּֽית־אֵ֖ל וּבֵ֥ין הָעָֽי׃

‎4 ‏אֶל־מְקוֹם֙ הַמִּזְבֵּ֔חַ אֲשֶׁר־עָ֥שָׂה שָׁ֖ם בָּרִאשֹׁנָ֑ה וַיִּקְרָ֥א שָׁ֛ם אַבְרָ֖ם בְּשֵׁ֥ם יְהוָֽה׃

‎5 ‏וְגַם־לְל֔וֹט הַהֹלֵ֖ךְ אֶת־אַבְרָ֑ם הָיָ֥ה צֹאן־וּבָקָ֖ר וְאֹהָלִֽים׃

‎6 ‏וְלֹא־נָשָׂ֥א אֹתָ֛ם הָאָ֖רֶץ לָשֶׁ֣בֶת יַחְדָּ֑ו כִּֽי־הָיָ֤ה רְכוּשָׁם֙ רָ֔ב וְלֹ֥א יָֽכְל֖וּ לָשֶׁ֥בֶת יַחְדָּֽו׃

‎7 ‏וַֽיְהִי־רִ֗יב בֵּ֚ין רֹעֵ֣י מִקְנֵֽה־אַבְרָ֔ם וּבֵ֖ין רֹעֵ֣י מִקְנֵה־ל֑וֹט וְהַֽכְּנַעֲנִי֙ וְהַפְּרִזִּ֔י אָ֖ז יֹשֵׁ֥ב בָּאָֽרֶץ׃

‎8 ‏וַיֹּ֨אמֶר אַבְרָ֜ם אֶל־ל֗וֹט אַל־נָ֨א תְהִ֤י מְרִיבָה֙ בֵּינִ֣י וּבֵינֶ֔יךָ וּבֵ֥ין רֹעַ֖י וּבֵ֣ין רֹעֶ֑יךָ כִּֽי־אֲנָשִׁ֥ים אַחִ֖ים אֲנָֽחְנוּ׃

‎9 ‏הֲלֹ֤א כָל־הָאָ֙רֶץ֙ לְפָנֶ֔יךָ הִפָּ֥רֶד נָ֖א מֵעָלָ֑י אִם־הַשְּׂמֹ֣אל וְאֵימִ֔נָה וְאִם־הַיָּמִ֖ין וְאַשְׂמְאִֽילָה׃

‎10 ‏וַיִּשָּׂא־ל֣וֹט אֶת־עֵינָ֗יו וַיַּרְא֙ אֶת־כָּל־כִּכַּ֣ר הַיַּרְדֵּ֔ן כִּ֥י כֻלָּ֖הּ מַשְׁקֶ֑ה לִפְנֵ֣י׀ שַׁחֵ֣ת יְהוָ֗ה אֶת־סְדֹם֙ וְאֶת־עֲמֹרָ֔ה כְּגַן־יְהוָה֙ כְּאֶ֣רֶץ מִצְרַ֔יִם בֹּאֲכָ֖ה צֹֽעַר׃

‎11 ‏וַיִּבְחַר־ל֣וֹ ל֗וֹט אֵ֚ת כָּל־כִּכַּ֣ר הַיַּרְדֵּ֔ן וַיִּסַּ֥ע ל֖וֹט מִקֶּ֑דֶם וַיִּפָּ֣רְד֔וּ אִ֖ישׁ מֵעַ֥ל אָחִֽיו׃

‎12 ‏אַבְרָ֖ם יָשַׁ֣ב בְּאֶֽרֶץ־כְּנָ֑עַן וְל֗וֹט יָשַׁב֙ בְּעָרֵ֣י הַכִּכָּ֔ר וַיֶּאֱהַ֖ל עַד־סְדֹֽם׃

‎13 ‏וְאַנְשֵׁ֣י סְדֹ֔ם רָעִ֖ים וְחַטָּאִ֑ים לַיהוָ֖ה מְאֹֽד׃

‎14 ‏וַֽיהוָ֞ה אָמַ֣ר אֶל־אַבְרָ֗ם אַחֲרֵי֙ הִפָּֽרֶד־ל֣וֹט מֵֽעִמּ֔וֹ שָׂ֣א נָ֤א עֵינֶ֙יךָ֙ וּרְאֵ֔ה מִן־הַמָּק֖וֹם אֲשֶׁר־אַתָּ֣ה שָׁ֑ם צָפֹ֥נָה וָנֶ֖גְבָּה וָקֵ֥דְמָה וָיָֽמָּה׃

‎15 ‏כִּ֧י אֶת־כָּל־הָאָ֛רֶץ אֲשֶׁר־אַתָּ֥ה רֹאֶ֖ה לְךָ֣ אֶתְּנֶ֑נָּה וּֽלְזַרְעֲךָ֖ עַד־עוֹלָֽם׃

‎16 ‏וְשַׂמְתִּ֥י אֶֽת־זַרְעֲךָ֖ כַּעֲפַ֣ר הָאָ֑רֶץ אֲשֶׁ֣ר׀ אִם־יוּכַ֣ל אִ֗ישׁ לִמְנוֹת֙ אֶת־עֲפַ֣ר הָאָ֔רֶץ גַּֽם־זַרְעֲךָ֖ יִמָּנֶֽה׃

‎17 ‏ק֚וּם הִתְהַלֵּ֣ךְ בָּאָ֔רֶץ לְאָרְכָּ֖הּ וּלְרָחְבָּ֑הּ כִּ֥י לְךָ֖ אֶתְּנֶֽנָּה׃

‎18 ‏וַיֶּאֱהַ֣ל אַבְרָ֗ם וַיָּבֹ֛א וַיֵּ֛שֶׁב בְּאֵלֹנֵ֥י מַמְרֵ֖א אֲשֶׁ֣ר בְּחֶבְר֑וֹן וַיִּֽבֶן־שָׁ֥ם מִזְבֵּ֖חַ לַֽיהוָֽה׃ פ

Vul

1 Ascendit ergo Abram de Ægypto, ipse et uxor ejus, et omnia quæ habebat, et Lot cum eo, ad australem plagam.

2 Erat autem dives valde in possessione auri et argenti.

3 Reversusque est per iter, quo venerat, a meridie in Bethel, usque ad locum ubi prius fixerat tabernaculum inter Bethel et Hai,

4 in loco altaris quod fecerat prius: et invocavit ibi nomen Domini.

5 Sed et Lot qui erat cum Abram, fuerunt greges ovium, et armenta, et tabernacula.

6 Nec poterat eos capere terra, ut habitarent simul: erat quippe substantia eorum multa, et nequibant habitare communiter.

7 Unde et facta est rixa inter pastores gregum Abram et Lot. Eo autem tempore Chananæus et Pherezæus habitabant in terra illa.

8 Dixit ergo Abram ad Lot: Ne quæso sit jurgium inter me et te, et inter pastores meos et pastores tuos: fratres enim sumus.

9 Ecce universa terra coram te est: recede a me, obsecro: si ad sinistram ieris, ego dexteram tenebo: si tu dexteram elegeris, ego ad sinistram pergam.

10 Elevatis itaque Lot oculis, vidit omnem circa regionem Jordanis, quæ universa irrigabatur antequam subverteret Dominus Sodomam et Gomorrham, sicut paradisus Domini, et sicut Ægyptus venientibus in Segor.

11 Elegitque sibi Lot regionem circa Jordanem, et recessit ab oriente: divisique sunt alterutrum a fratre suo.

12 Abram habitavit in terra Chanaan; Lot vero moratus est in oppidis, quæ erant circa Jordanem, et habitavit in Sodomis.

13 Homines autem Sodomitæ pessimi erant, et peccatores coram Domino nimis.

14 Dixitque Dominus ad Abram, postquam divisus est ab eo Lot: Leva oculos tuos et vide a loco, in quo nunc es, ad aquilonem et meridiem, ad orientem et occidentem.

15 Omnem terram, quam conspicis, tibi dabo, et semini tuo usque in sempiternum.

16 Faciamque semen tuum sicut pulverem terræ: si quis potest hominum numerare pulverem terræ, semen quoque tuum numerare poterit.

17 Surge, et perambula terram in longitudine et in latitudine sua: quia tibi daturus sum eam.

18 Movens igitur tabernaculum suum Abram, venit, et habitavit juxta convallem Mambre, quæ est in Hebron: ædificavitque ibi altare Domino.
