1  Now Naaman,⁵²⁸³ captain⁸²⁶⁹ of the host⁶⁶³⁵ of the king⁴⁴²⁸ of Syria,⁷⁵⁸ was¹⁹⁶¹ a great¹⁴¹⁹ man³⁷⁶ with⁶⁴⁴⁰ his master,¹¹³ and honorable,^{5375 6440} because³⁵⁸⁸ by him the LORD³⁰⁶⁸ had given⁵⁴¹⁴ deliverance⁸⁶⁶⁸ unto Syria:⁷⁵⁸ he was¹⁹⁶¹ also a mighty¹³⁶⁸ man³⁷⁶ in valor,²⁴²⁸ but he was a leper.⁶⁸⁷⁹

2  And the Syrians⁷⁵⁸ had gone out³³¹⁸ by companies,¹⁴¹⁶ and had brought away captive⁷⁶¹⁷ out of the land^{4480 776} of Israel³⁴⁷⁸ a little⁶⁹⁹⁶ maid;⁵²⁹¹ and she waited^{1961 6440} on Naaman's⁵²⁸³ wife.⁸⁰²

3  And she said⁵⁵⁹ unto⁴¹³ her mistress,¹⁴⁰⁴ Would God³⁰⁵ my lord¹¹³ were with⁶⁴⁴⁰ the prophet⁵⁰³⁰ that⁸³⁴ is in Samaria!⁸¹¹¹ for²²⁷ he would recover⁶²² him of his leprosy.^{4480 6883}

4  And one went in,⁹³⁵ and told⁵⁰⁴⁶ his lord,¹¹³ saying,⁵⁵⁹ Thus²⁰⁶³ and thus²⁰⁶³ said¹⁶⁹⁶ the maid⁵²⁹¹ that⁸³⁴ is of the land^{4480 776} of Israel.³⁴⁷⁸

5  And the king⁴⁴²⁸ of Syria⁷⁵⁸ said,⁵⁵⁹ Go to,¹⁹⁸⁰ go,⁹³⁵ and I will send⁷⁹⁷¹ a letter⁵⁶¹² unto⁴¹³ the king⁴⁴²⁸ of Israel.³⁴⁷⁸ And he departed,¹⁹⁸⁰ and took³⁹⁴⁷ with³⁰²⁷ him ten⁶²³⁵ talents³⁶⁰³ of silver,³⁷⁰¹ and six⁸³³⁷ thousand⁵⁰⁵ pieces of gold,²⁰⁹¹ and ten⁶²³⁵ changes²⁴⁸⁷ of raiment.⁸⁹⁹

6  And he brought⁹³⁵ the letter⁵⁶¹² to⁴¹³ the king⁴⁴²⁸ of Israel,³⁴⁷⁸ saying,⁵⁵⁹ Now⁶²⁵⁸ when this²⁰⁸⁸ letter⁵⁶¹² is come⁹³⁵ unto⁴¹³ thee, behold,²⁰⁰⁹ I have therewith sent^{7971 853} Naaman⁵²⁸³ my servant⁵⁶⁵⁰ to⁴¹³ thee, that thou mayest recover⁶²² him of his leprosy.^{4480 6883}

7  And it came to pass,¹⁹⁶¹ when the king⁴⁴²⁸ of Israel³⁴⁷⁸ had read^{7121 853} the letter,⁵⁶¹² that he rent⁷¹⁶⁷ his clothes,⁸⁹⁹ and said,⁵⁵⁹ Am I⁵⁸⁹ God,⁴³⁰ to kill⁴¹⁹¹ and to make alive,²⁴²¹ that³⁵⁸⁸ this²⁰⁸⁸ man doth send⁷⁹⁷¹ unto⁴¹³ me to recover⁶²² a man³⁷⁶ of his leprosy?^{4480 6883} wherefore^{3588 389} consider,³⁰⁴⁵ I pray you,⁴⁹⁹⁴ and see⁷²⁰⁰ how³⁵⁸⁸ he¹⁹³¹ seeketh a quarrel⁵⁷⁹ against me.

8  And it was¹⁹⁶¹ so, when Elisha⁴⁷⁷ the man³⁷⁶ of God⁴³⁰ had heard⁸⁰⁸⁵ that³⁵⁸⁸ the king⁴⁴²⁸ of Israel³⁴⁷⁸ had rent^{7167 853} his clothes,⁸⁹⁹ that he sent⁷⁹⁷¹ to⁴¹³ the king,⁴⁴²⁸ saying,⁵⁵⁹ Wherefore⁴¹⁰⁰ hast thou rent⁷¹⁶⁷ thy clothes?⁸⁹⁹ let him come⁹³⁵ now⁴⁹⁹⁴ to⁴¹³ me, and he shall know³⁰⁴⁵ that³⁵⁸⁸ there is³⁴²⁶ a prophet⁵⁰³⁰ in Israel.³⁴⁷⁸

9  So Naaman⁵²⁸³ came⁹³⁵ with his horses⁵⁴⁸³ and with his chariot,⁷³⁹³ and stood⁵⁹⁷⁵ at the door⁶⁶⁰⁷ of the house¹⁰⁰⁴ of Elisha.⁴⁷⁷

10  And Elisha⁴⁷⁷ sent⁷⁹⁷¹ a messenger⁴³⁹⁷ unto⁴¹³ him, saying,⁵⁵⁹ Go¹⁹⁸⁰ and wash⁷³⁶⁴ in Jordan³³⁸³ seven⁷⁶⁵¹ times,⁶⁴⁷¹ and thy flesh¹³²⁰ shall come again⁷⁷²⁵ to thee, and thou shalt be clean.²⁸⁹¹

11  But Naaman⁵²⁸³ was wroth,⁷¹⁰⁷ and went away,¹⁹⁸⁰ and said,⁵⁵⁹ Behold,²⁰⁰⁹ I thought,⁵⁵⁹ He will surely come out^{3318 3318} to⁴¹³ me, and stand,⁵⁹⁷⁵ and call⁷¹²¹ on the name⁸⁰³⁴ of the LORD³⁰⁶⁸ his God,⁴³⁰ and strike⁵¹³⁰ his hand³⁰²⁷ over⁴¹³ the place,⁴⁷²⁵ and recover⁶²² the leper.⁶⁸⁷⁹

12  Are not³⁸⁰⁸ Abana⁷¹ and Pharpar,⁶⁵⁵⁴ rivers⁵¹⁰⁴ of Damascus,¹⁸³⁴ better²⁸⁹⁶ than all^{4480 3605} the waters⁴³²⁵ of Israel?³⁴⁷⁸ may I not³⁸⁰⁸ wash⁷³⁶⁴ in them, and be clean?²⁸⁹¹ So he turned⁶⁴³⁷ and went away¹⁹⁸⁰ in a rage.²⁵³⁴

13  And his servants⁵⁶⁵⁰ came near,⁵⁰⁶⁶ and spoke¹⁶⁹⁶ unto⁴¹³ him, and said,⁵⁵⁹ My father,¹ if the prophet⁵⁰³⁰ had bid^{1696 413} thee do some great¹⁴¹⁹ thing,¹⁶⁹⁷ wouldest thou not³⁸⁰⁸ have done⁶²¹³ it? how much rather⁶³⁷ then, when³⁵⁸⁸ he saith⁵⁵⁹ to⁴¹³ thee, Wash,⁷³⁶⁴ and be clean?²⁸⁹¹

14  Then went he down,³³⁸¹ and dipped²⁸⁸¹ himself seven⁷⁶⁵¹ times⁶⁴⁷¹ in Jordan,³³⁸³ according to the saying¹⁶⁹⁷ of the man³⁷⁶ of God:⁴³⁰ and his flesh¹³²⁰ came again⁷⁷²⁵ like unto the flesh¹³²⁰ of a little⁶⁹⁹⁶ child,⁵²⁸⁸ and he was clean.²⁸⁹¹

15  And he returned⁷⁷²⁵ to⁴¹³ the man³⁷⁶ of God,⁴³⁰ he¹⁹³¹ and all³⁶⁰⁵ his company,⁴²⁶⁴ and came,⁹³⁵ and stood⁵⁹⁷⁵ before⁶⁴⁴⁰ him: and he said,⁵⁵⁹ Behold,²⁰⁰⁹ now⁴⁹⁹⁴ I know³⁰⁴⁵ that³⁵⁸⁸ there is no³⁶⁹ God⁴³⁰ in all³⁶⁰⁵ the earth,⁷⁷⁶ but^{3588 518} in Israel:³⁴⁷⁸ now⁶²⁵⁸ therefore, I pray thee,⁴⁹⁹⁴ take³⁹⁴⁷ a blessing¹²⁹³ of^{4480 854} thy servant.⁵⁶⁵⁰

16  But he said,⁵⁵⁹ As the LORD³⁰⁶⁸ liveth,²⁴¹⁶ before⁶⁴⁴⁰ whom⁸³⁴ I stand,⁵⁹⁷⁵ I will receive³⁹⁴⁷ none. And he urged⁶⁴⁸⁴ him to take³⁹⁴⁷ it; but he refused.³⁹⁸⁵

17  And Naaman⁵²⁸³ said,⁵⁵⁹ Shall there not³⁸⁰⁸ then, I pray thee,⁴⁹⁹⁴ be given⁵⁴¹⁴ to thy servant⁵⁶⁵⁰ two mules'^{6776 6505} burden⁴⁸⁵³ of earth?¹²⁷ for³⁵⁸⁸ thy servant⁵⁶⁵⁰ will henceforth⁵⁷⁵⁰ offer⁶²¹³ neither³⁸⁰⁸ burnt offering⁵⁹³⁰ nor sacrifice²⁰⁷⁷ unto other³¹² gods,⁴³⁰ but^{3588 518} unto the LORD.³⁰⁶⁸

18  In this²⁰⁸⁸ thing¹⁶⁹⁷ the LORD³⁰⁶⁸ pardon⁵⁵⁴⁵ thy servant,⁵⁶⁵⁰ that when my master¹¹³ goeth⁹³⁵ into the house¹⁰⁰⁴ of Rimmon⁷⁴¹⁷ to worship⁷⁸¹² there,⁸⁰³³ and he¹⁹³¹ leaneth⁸¹⁷² on⁵⁹²¹ my hand,³⁰²⁷ and I bow myself⁷⁸¹² in the house¹⁰⁰⁴ of Rimmon:⁷⁴¹⁷ when I bow down myself⁷⁸¹² in the house¹⁰⁰⁴ of Rimmon,⁷⁴¹⁷ the LORD³⁰⁶⁸ pardon⁵⁵⁴⁵ thy servant⁵⁶⁵⁰ in this²⁰⁸⁸ thing.¹⁶⁹⁷

19  And he said⁵⁵⁹ unto him, Go¹⁹⁸⁰ in peace.⁷⁹⁶⁵ So he departed¹⁹⁸⁰ from^{4480 854} him a little way.^{3530 776}

20  But Gehazi,¹⁵²² the servant⁵²⁸⁸ of Elisha⁴⁷⁷ the man³⁷⁶ of God,⁴³⁰ said,⁵⁵⁹ Behold,²⁰⁰⁹ my master¹¹³ hath spared^{2820 853} Naaman⁵²⁸³ this²⁰⁸⁸ Syrian,⁷⁶¹ in not receiving^{4480 3947} at his hands^{4480 3027 853} that which⁸³⁴ he brought:⁹³⁵ but,^{3588 518} as the LORD³⁰⁶⁸ liveth,²⁴¹⁶ I will run⁷³²³ after³¹⁰ him, and take³⁹⁴⁷ somewhat³⁹⁷² of^{4480 854} him.

21  So Gehazi¹⁵²² followed⁷²⁹¹ after³¹⁰ Naaman.⁵²⁸³ And when Naaman⁵²⁸³ saw⁷²⁰⁰ him running⁷³²³ after³¹⁰ him, he lighted down⁵³⁰⁷ from^{4480 5921} the chariot⁴⁸¹⁸ to meet⁷¹²² him, and said,⁵⁵⁹ Is all well?⁷⁹⁶⁵

22  And he said,⁵⁵⁹ All is well.⁷⁹⁶⁵ My master¹¹³ hath sent⁷⁹⁷¹ me, saying,⁵⁵⁹ Behold,²⁰⁰⁹ even now^{6258 2088} there be come⁹³⁵ to⁴¹³ me from mount^{4480 2022} Ephraim⁶⁶⁹ two⁸¹⁴⁷ young men⁵²⁸⁸ of the sons^{4480 1121} of the prophets:⁵⁰³⁰ give⁵⁴¹⁴ them, I pray thee,⁴⁹⁹⁴ a talent³⁶⁰³ of silver,³⁷⁰¹ and two⁸¹⁴⁷ changes²⁴⁸⁷ of garments.⁸⁹⁹

23  And Naaman⁵²⁸³ said,⁵⁵⁹ Be content,²⁹⁷⁴ take³⁹⁴⁷ two talents.³⁶⁰³ And he urged⁶⁵⁵⁵ him, and bound⁶⁶⁹⁶ two talents³⁶⁰³ of silver³⁷⁰¹ in two⁸¹⁴⁷ bags,²⁷⁵⁴ with two⁸¹⁴⁷ changes²⁴⁸⁷ of garments,⁸⁹⁹ and laid⁵⁴¹⁴ them upon⁴¹³ two⁸¹⁴⁷ of his servants;⁵²⁸⁸ and they bore⁵³⁷⁵ them before⁶⁴⁴⁰ him.

24  And when he came⁹³⁵ to⁴¹³ the tower,⁶⁰⁷⁶ he took³⁹⁴⁷ them from their hand,^{4480 3027} and bestowed⁶⁴⁸⁵ them in the house:¹⁰⁰⁴ and he let ⁸⁵³ the men³⁷⁶ go,⁷⁹⁷¹ and they departed.¹⁹⁸⁰

25  But he¹⁹³¹ went in,⁹³⁵ and stood⁵⁹⁷⁵ before⁴¹³ his master.¹¹³ And Elisha⁴⁷⁷ said⁵⁵⁹ unto⁴¹³ him, Whence^{4480 370} comest thou, Gehazi?¹⁵²² And he said,⁵⁵⁹ Thy servant⁵⁶⁵⁰ went¹⁹⁸⁰ no³⁸⁰⁸ whither.^{575 575}

26  And he said⁵⁵⁹ unto⁴¹³ him, Went¹⁹⁸⁰ not³⁸⁰⁸ mine heart³⁸²⁰ with thee, when⁸³⁴ the man³⁷⁶ turned again²⁰¹⁵ from^{4480 5921} his chariot⁴⁸¹⁸ to meet⁷¹²² thee? Is it a time⁶²⁵⁶ to receive^{3947 853} money,³⁷⁰¹ and to receive³⁹⁴⁷ garments,⁸⁹⁹ and oliveyards,²¹³² and vineyards,³⁷⁵⁴ and sheep,⁶⁶²⁹ and oxen,¹²⁴¹ and menservants,⁵⁶⁵⁰ and maidservants?⁸¹⁹⁸

27  The leprosy⁶⁸⁸³ therefore of Naaman⁵²⁸³ shall cleave¹⁶⁹² unto thee, and unto thy seed²²³³ forever.⁵⁷⁶⁹ And he went out³³¹⁸ from his presence^{4480 6440} a leper⁶⁸⁷⁹ as white as snow.⁷⁹⁵⁰

1 καὶ Ναιμαν ὁ ἄρχων τῆς δυνάμεως Συρίας ἦν ἀνὴρ μέγας ἐνώπιον τοῦ κυρίου αὐτοῦ καὶ τεθαυμασμένος προσώπῳ ὅτι ἐν αὐτῷ ἔδωκεν κύριος σωτηρίαν Συρίᾳ καὶ ὁ ἀνὴρ ἦν δυνατὸς ἰσχύι λελεπρωμένος

2 καὶ Συρία ἐξῆλθον μονόζωνοι καὶ ᾐχμαλώτευσαν ἐκ γῆς Ισραηλ νεάνιδα μικράν καὶ ἦν ἐνώπιον τῆς γυναικὸς Ναιμαν

3 ἡ δὲ εἶπεν τῇ κυρίᾳ αὐτῆς ὄφελον ὁ κύριός μου ἐνώπιον τοῦ προφήτου τοῦ θεοῦ τοῦ ἐν Σαμαρείᾳ τότε ἀποσυνάξει αὐτὸν ἀπὸ τῆς λέπρας αὐτοῦ

4 καὶ εἰσῆλθεν καὶ ἀπήγγειλεν τῷ κυρίῳ ἑαυτῆς καὶ εἶπεν οὕτως καὶ οὕτως ἐλάλησεν ἡ νεᾶνις ἡ ἐκ γῆς Ισραηλ

5 καὶ εἶπεν βασιλεὺς Συρίας πρὸς Ναιμαν δεῦρο εἴσελθε καὶ ἐξαποστελῶ βιβλίον πρὸς βασιλέα Ισραηλ καὶ ἐπορεύθη καὶ ἔλαβεν ἐν τῇ χειρὶ αὐτοῦ δέκα τάλαντα ἀργυρίου καὶ ἑξακισχιλίους χρυσοῦς καὶ δέκα ἀλλασσομένας στολάς

6 καὶ ἤνεγκεν τὸ βιβλίον πρὸς τὸν βασιλέα Ισραηλ λέγων καὶ νῦν ὡς ἂν ἔλθῃ τὸ βιβλίον τοῦτο πρὸς σέ ἰδοὺ ἀπέστειλα πρὸς σὲ Ναιμαν τὸν δοῦλόν μου καὶ ἀποσυνάξεις αὐτὸν ἀπὸ τῆς λέπρας αὐτοῦ

7 καὶ ἐγένετο ὡς ἀνέγνω βασιλεὺς Ισραηλ τὸ βιβλίον διέρρηξεν τὰ ἱμάτια αὐτοῦ καὶ εἶπεν μὴ θεὸς ἐγὼ τοῦ θανατῶσαι καὶ ζωοποιῆσαι ὅτι οὗτος ἀποστέλλει πρός με ἀποσυνάξαι ἄνδρα ἀπὸ τῆς λέπρας αὐτοῦ ὅτι πλὴν γνῶτε δὴ καὶ ἴδετε ὅτι προφασίζεται οὗτός με

8 καὶ ἐγένετο ὡς ἤκουσεν Ελισαιε ὅτι διέρρηξεν ὁ βασιλεὺς Ισραηλ τὰ ἱμάτια ἑαυτοῦ καὶ ἀπέστειλεν πρὸς τὸν βασιλέα Ισραηλ λέγων ἵνα τί διέρρηξας τὰ ἱμάτιά σου ἐλθέτω δὴ πρός με Ναιμαν καὶ γνώτω ὅτι ἔστιν προφήτης ἐν Ισραηλ

9 καὶ ἦλθεν Ναιμαν ἐν ἵππῳ καὶ ἅρματι καὶ ἔστη ἐπὶ θύρας οἴκου Ελισαιε

10 καὶ ἀπέστειλεν Ελισαιε ἄγγελον πρὸς αὐτὸν λέγων πορευθεὶς λοῦσαι ἑπτάκις ἐν τῷ Ιορδάνῃ καὶ ἐπιστρέψει ἡ σάρξ σού σοι καὶ καθαρισθήσῃ

11 καὶ ἐθυμώθη Ναιμαν καὶ ἀπῆλθεν καὶ εἶπεν ἰδοὺ δὴ ἔλεγον ὅτι ἐξελεύσεται πρός με καὶ στήσεται καὶ ἐπικαλέσεται ἐν ὀνόματι θεοῦ αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐπιθήσει τὴν χεῖρα αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ τὸν τόπον καὶ ἀποσυνάξει τὸ λεπρόν

12 οὐχὶ ἀγαθὸς Αβανα καὶ Φαρφαρ ποταμοὶ Δαμασκοῦ ὑπὲρ Ιορδάνην καὶ πάντα τὰ ὕδατα Ισραηλ οὐχὶ πορευθεὶς λούσομαι ἐν αὐτοῖς καὶ καθαρισθήσομαι καὶ ἐξέκλινεν καὶ ἀπῆλθεν ἐν θυμῷ

13 καὶ ἤγγισαν οἱ παῖδες αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐλάλησαν πρὸς αὐτόν μέγαν λόγον ἐλάλησεν ὁ προφήτης πρὸς σέ οὐχὶ ποιήσεις καὶ ὅτι εἶπεν πρὸς σέ λοῦσαι καὶ καθαρίσθητι

14 καὶ κατέβη Ναιμαν καὶ ἐβαπτίσατο ἐν τῷ Ιορδάνῃ ἑπτάκι κατὰ τὸ ῥῆμα Ελισαιε καὶ ἐπέστρεψεν ἡ σὰρξ αὐτοῦ ὡς σὰρξ παιδαρίου μικροῦ καὶ ἐκαθαρίσθη

15 καὶ ἐπέστρεψεν πρὸς Ελισαιε αὐτὸς καὶ πᾶσα ἡ παρεμβολὴ αὐτοῦ καὶ ἦλθεν καὶ ἔστη καὶ εἶπεν ἰδοὺ δὴ ἔγνωκα ὅτι οὐκ ἔστιν θεὸς ἐν πάσῃ τῇ γῇ ὅτι ἀλλ᾽ ἢ ἐν τῷ Ισραηλ καὶ νῦν λαβὲ τὴν εὐλογίαν παρὰ τοῦ δούλου σου

16 καὶ εἶπεν Ελισαιε ζῇ κύριος ᾧ παρέστην ἐνώπιον αὐτοῦ εἰ λήμψομαι καὶ παρεβιάσατο αὐτὸν λαβεῖν καὶ ἠπείθησεν

17 καὶ εἶπεν Ναιμαν καὶ εἰ μή δοθήτω δὴ τῷ δούλῳ σου γόμος ζεύγους ἡμιόνων καὶ σύ μοι δώσεις ἐκ τῆς γῆς τῆς πυρρᾶς ὅτι οὐ ποιήσει ἔτι ὁ δοῦλός σου ὁλοκαύτωμα καὶ θυσίασμα θεοῖς ἑτέροις ἀλλ᾽ ἢ τῷ κυρίῳ μόνῳ

18 καὶ ἱλάσεται κύριος τῷ δούλῳ σου ἐν τῷ εἰσπορεύεσθαι τὸν κύριόν μου εἰς οἶκον Ρεμμαν προσκυνῆσαι αὐτὸν καὶ ἐπαναπαύσεται ἐπὶ τῆς χειρός μου καὶ προσκυνήσω ἐν οἴκῳ Ρεμμαν ἐν τῷ προσκυνεῖν αὐτὸν ἐν οἴκῳ Ρεμμαν καὶ ἱλάσεται δὴ κύριος τῷ δούλῳ σου ἐν τῷ λόγῳ τούτῳ

19 καὶ εἶπεν Ελισαιε πρὸς Ναιμαν δεῦρο εἰς εἰρήνην καὶ ἀπῆλθεν ἀπ᾽ αὐτοῦ εἰς δεβραθα τῆς γῆς

20 καὶ εἶπεν Γιεζι τὸ παιδάριον Ελισαιε ἰδοὺ ἐφείσατο ὁ κύριός μου τοῦ Ναιμαν τοῦ Σύρου τούτου τοῦ μὴ λαβεῖν ἐκ χειρὸς αὐτοῦ ἃ ἐνήνοχεν ζῇ κύριος ὅτι εἰ μὴ δραμοῦμαι ὀπίσω αὐτοῦ καὶ λήμψομαι παρ᾽ αὐτοῦ τι

21 καὶ ἐδίωξε Γιεζι ὀπίσω τοῦ Ναιμαν καὶ εἶδεν αὐτὸν Ναιμαν τρέχοντα ὀπίσω αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐπέστρεψεν ἀπὸ τοῦ ἅρματος εἰς ἀπαντὴν αὐτοῦ

22 καὶ εἶπεν εἰρήνη ὁ κύριός μου ἀπέστειλέν με λέγων ἰδοὺ νῦν ἦλθον πρός με δύο παιδάρια ἐξ ὄρους Εφραιμ ἀπὸ τῶν υἱῶν τῶν προφητῶν δὸς δὴ αὐτοῖς τάλαντον ἀργυρίου καὶ δύο ἀλλασσομένας στολάς

23 καὶ εἶπεν Ναιμαν λαβὲ διτάλαντον ἀργυρίου καὶ ἔλαβεν ἐν δυσὶ θυλάκοις καὶ δύο ἀλλασσομένας στολὰς καὶ ἔδωκεν ἐπὶ δύο παιδάρια αὐτοῦ καὶ ἦραν ἔμπροσθεν αὐτοῦ

24 καὶ ἦλθον εἰς τὸ σκοτεινόν καὶ ἔλαβεν ἐκ τῶν χειρῶν αὐτῶν καὶ παρέθετο ἐν οἴκῳ καὶ ἐξαπέστειλεν τοὺς ἄνδρας

25 καὶ αὐτὸς εἰσῆλθεν καὶ παρειστήκει πρὸς τὸν κύριον αὐτοῦ καὶ εἶπεν πρὸς αὐτὸν Ελισαιε πόθεν Γιεζι καὶ εἶπεν Γιεζι οὐ πεπόρευται ὁ δοῦλός σου ἔνθα καὶ ἔνθα

26 καὶ εἶπεν πρὸς αὐτὸν Ελισαιε οὐχὶ ἡ καρδία μου ἐπορεύθη μετὰ σοῦ ὅτε ἐπέστρεψεν ὁ ἀνὴρ ἀπὸ τοῦ ἅρματος εἰς συναντήν σοι καὶ νῦν ἔλαβες τὸ ἀργύριον καὶ νῦν ἔλαβες τὰ ἱμάτια καὶ λήμψῃ ἐν αὐτῷ κήπους καὶ ἐλαιῶνας καὶ ἀμπελῶνας καὶ πρόβατα καὶ βόας καὶ παῖδας καὶ παιδίσκας

27 καὶ ἡ λέπρα Ναιμαν κολληθήσεται ἐν σοὶ καὶ ἐν τῷ σπέρματί σου εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα καὶ ἐξῆλθεν ἐκ προσώπου αὐτοῦ λελεπρωμένος ὡσεὶ χιών

‎1 ‏וְ֠נַעֲמָן שַׂר־צְבָ֨א מֶֽלֶךְ־אֲרָ֜ם הָיָ֣ה אִישׁ֩ גָּד֨וֹל לִפְנֵ֤י אֲדֹנָיו֙ וּנְשֻׂ֣א פָנִ֔ים כִּֽי־ב֛וֹ נָֽתַן־יְהוָ֥ה תְּשׁוּעָ֖ה לַאֲרָ֑ם וְהָאִ֗ישׁ הָיָ֛ה גִּבּ֥וֹר חַ֖יִל מְצֹרָֽע׃

‎2 ‏וַאֲרָם֙ יָצְא֣וּ גְדוּדִ֔ים וַיִּשְׁבּ֛וּ מֵאֶ֥רֶץ יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל נַעֲרָ֣ה קְטַנָּ֑ה וַתְּהִ֕י לִפְנֵ֖י אֵ֥שֶׁת נַעֲמָֽן׃

‎3 ‏וַתֹּ֙אמֶר֙ אֶל־גְּבִרְתָּ֔הּ אַחֲלֵ֣י אֲדֹנִ֔י לִפְנֵ֥י הַנָּבִ֖יא אֲשֶׁ֣ר בְּשֹׁמְר֑וֹן אָ֛ז יֶאֱסֹ֥ף אֹת֖וֹ מִצָּרַעְתּֽוֹ׃

‎4 ‏וַיָּבֹ֕א וַיַּגֵּ֥ד לַאדֹנָ֖יו לֵאמֹ֑ר כָּזֹ֤את וְכָזֹאת֙ דִּבְּרָ֣ה הַֽנַּעֲרָ֔ה אֲשֶׁ֖ר מֵאֶ֥רֶץ יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

‎5 ‏וַיֹּ֤אמֶר מֶֽלֶךְ־אֲרָם֙ לֶךְ־בֹּ֔א וְאֶשְׁלְחָ֥ה סֵ֖פֶר אֶל־מֶ֣לֶךְ יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וַיֵּלֶךְ֩ וַיִּקַּ֨ח בְּיָד֜וֹ עֶ֣שֶׂר כִּכְּרֵי־כֶ֗סֶף וְשֵׁ֤שֶׁת אֲלָפִים֙ זָהָ֔ב וְעֶ֖שֶׂר חֲלִיפ֥וֹת בְּגָדִֽים׃

‎6 ‏וַיָּבֵ֣א הַסֵּ֔פֶר אֶל־מֶ֥לֶךְ יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל לֵאמֹ֑ר וְעַתָּ֗ה כְּב֨וֹא הַסֵּ֤פֶר הַזֶּה֙ אֵלֶ֔יךָ הִנֵּ֨ה שָׁלַ֤חְתִּי אֵלֶ֙יךָ֙ אֶת־נַעֲמָ֣ן עַבְדִּ֔י וַאֲסַפְתּ֖וֹ מִצָּרַעְתּֽוֹ׃

‎7 ‏וַיְהִ֡י כִּקְרֹא֩ מֶֽלֶךְ־יִשְׂרָאֵ֨ל אֶת־הַסֵּ֜פֶר וַיִּקְרַ֣ע בְּגָדָ֗יו וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ הַאֱלֹהִ֥ים אָ֙נִי֙ לְהָמִ֣ית וּֽלְהַחֲי֔וֹת כִּֽי־זֶה֙ שֹׁלֵ֣חַ אֵלַ֔י לֶאֱסֹ֥ף אִ֖ישׁ מִצָּֽרַעְתּ֑וֹ כִּ֤י אַךְ־דְּעֽוּ־נָא֙ וּרְא֔וּ כִּֽי־מִתְאַנֶּ֥ה ה֖וּא לִֽי׃

‎8 ‏וַיְהִ֞י כִּשְׁמֹ֣עַ׀ אֱלִישָׁ֣ע אִישׁ־הָאֱלֹהִ֗ים כִּֽי־קָרַ֤ע מֶֽלֶךְ־יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ אֶת־בְּגָדָ֔יו וַיִּשְׁלַח֙ אֶל־הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ לֵאמֹ֔ר לָ֥מָּה קָרַ֖עְתָּ בְּגָדֶ֑יךָ יָבֹֽא־נָ֣א אֵלַ֔י וְיֵדַ֕ע כִּ֛י יֵ֥שׁ נָבִ֖יא בְּיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

‎9 ‏וַיָּבֹ֥א נַעֲמָ֖ן בסוסו בְּסוּסָ֣יו וּבְרִכְבּ֑וֹ וַיַּעֲמֹ֥ד פֶּֽתַח־הַבַּ֖יִת לֶאֱלִישָֽׁע׃

‎10 ‏וַיִּשְׁלַ֥ח אֵלָ֛יו אֱלִישָׁ֖ע מַלְאָ֣ךְ לֵאמֹ֑ר הָל֗וֹךְ וְרָחַצְתָּ֤ שֶֽׁבַע־פְּעָמִים֙ בַּיַּרְדֵּ֔ן וְיָשֹׁ֧ב בְּשָׂרְךָ֛ לְךָ֖ וּטְהָֽר׃

‎11 ‏וַיִּקְצֹ֥ף נַעֲמָ֖ן וַיֵּלַ֑ךְ וַיֹּאמֶר֩ הִנֵּ֨ה אָמַ֜רְתִּי אֵלַ֣י׀ יֵצֵ֣א יָצ֗וֹא וְעָמַד֙ וְקָרָא֙ בְּשֵׁם־יְהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהָ֔יו וְהֵנִ֥יף יָד֛וֹ אֶל־הַמָּק֖וֹם וְאָסַ֥ף הַמְּצֹרָֽע׃

‎12 ‏הֲלֹ֡א טוֹב֩ אבנה אֲמָנָ֨ה וּפַרְפַּ֜ר נַהֲר֣וֹת דַּמֶּ֗שֶׂק מִכֹּל֙ מֵימֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל הֲלֹֽא־אֶרְחַ֥ץ בָּהֶ֖ם וְטָהָ֑רְתִּי וַיִּ֖פֶן וַיֵּ֥לֶךְ בְּחֵמָֽה׃

‎13 ‏וַיִּגְּשׁ֣וּ עֲבָדָיו֮ וַיְדַבְּר֣וּ אֵלָיו֒ וַיֹּאמְר֗וּ אָבִי֙ דָּבָ֣ר גָּד֗וֹל הַנָּבִ֛יא דִּבֶּ֥ר אֵלֶ֖יךָ הֲל֣וֹא תַעֲשֶׂ֑ה וְאַ֛ף כִּֽי־אָמַ֥ר אֵלֶ֖יךָ רְחַ֥ץ וּטְהָֽר׃

‎14 ‏וַיֵּ֗רֶד וַיִּטְבֹּ֤ל בַּיַּרְדֵּן֙ שֶׁ֣בַע פְּעָמִ֔ים כִּדְבַ֖ר אִ֣ישׁ הָאֱלֹהִ֑ים וַיָּ֣שָׁב בְּשָׂר֗וֹ כִּבְשַׂ֛ר נַ֥עַר קָטֹ֖ן וַיִּטְהָֽר׃

‎15 ‏וַיָּשָׁב֩ אֶל־אִ֨ישׁ הָאֱלֹהִ֜ים ה֣וּא וְכָֽל־מַחֲנֵ֗הוּ וַיָּבֹא֮ וַיַּעֲמֹ֣ד לְפָנָיו֒ וַיֹּ֗אמֶר הִנֵּה־נָ֤א יָדַ֙עְתִּי֙ כִּ֣י אֵ֤ין אֱלֹהִים֙ בְּכָל־הָאָ֔רֶץ כִּ֖י אִם־בְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וְעַתָּ֛ה קַח־נָ֥א בְרָכָ֖ה מֵאֵ֥ת עַבְדֶּֽךָ׃

‎16 ‏וַיֹּ֕אמֶר חַי־יְהוָ֛ה אֲשֶׁר־עָמַ֥דְתִּי לְפָנָ֖יו אִם־אֶקָּ֑ח וַיִּפְצַר־בּ֥וֹ לָקַ֖חַת וַיְמָאֵֽן׃

‎17 ‏וַיֹּאמֶר֮ נַעֲמָן֒ וָלֹ֕א יֻתַּן־נָ֣א לְעַבְדְּךָ֔ מַשָּׂ֥א צֶֽמֶד־פְּרָדִ֖ים אֲדָמָ֑ה כִּ֡י לֽוֹא־יַעֲשֶׂה֩ ע֨וֹד עַבְדְּךָ֜ עֹלָ֤ה וָזֶ֙בַח֙ לֵאלֹהִ֣ים אֲחֵרִ֔ים כִּ֖י אִם־לַיהוָֽה׃

‎18 ‏לַדָּבָ֣ר הַזֶּ֔ה יִסְלַ֥ח יְהוָ֖ה לְעַבְדֶּ֑ךָ בְּב֣וֹא אֲדֹנִ֣י בֵית־רִמּוֹן֩ לְהִשְׁתַּחֲוֹ֨ת שָׁ֜מָּה וְה֣וּא׀ נִשְׁעָ֣ן עַל־יָדִ֗י וְהִֽשְׁתַּחֲוֵ֙יתִי֙ בֵּ֣ית רִמֹּ֔ן בְּהִשְׁתַּחֲוָיָ֙תִי֙ בֵּ֣ית רִמֹּ֔ן יִסְלַח־נא יְהוָ֥ה לְעַבְדְּךָ֖ בַּדָּבָ֥ר הַזֶּֽה׃

‎19 ‏וַיֹּ֥אמֶר ל֖וֹ לֵ֣ךְ לְשָׁל֑וֹם וַיֵּ֥לֶךְ מֵאִתּ֖וֹ כִּבְרַת־אָֽרֶץ׃ ס

‎20 ‏וַיֹּ֣אמֶר גֵּיחֲזִ֗י נַעַר֮ אֱלִישָׁ֣ע אִישׁ־הָאֱלֹהִים֒ הִנֵּ֣ה׀ חָשַׂ֣ךְ אֲדֹנִ֗י אֶֽת־נַעֲמָ֤ן הָֽאֲרַמִּי֙ הַזֶּ֔ה מִקַּ֥חַת מִיָּד֖וֹ אֵ֣ת אֲשֶׁר־הֵבִ֑יא חַי־יְהוָה֙ כִּֽי־אִם־רַ֣צְתִּי אַחֲרָ֔יו וְלָקַחְתִּ֥י מֵאִתּ֖וֹ מְאֽוּמָה׃

‎21 ‏וַיִּרְדֹּ֥ף גֵּיחֲזִ֖י אַחֲרֵ֣י נַֽעֲמָ֑ן וַיִּרְאֶ֤ה נַֽעֲמָן֙ רָ֣ץ אַחֲרָ֔יו וַיִּפֹּ֞ל מֵעַ֧ל הַמֶּרְכָּבָ֛ה לִקְרָאת֖וֹ וַיֹּ֥אמֶר הֲשָׁלֽוֹם׃

‎22 ‏וַיֹּ֣אמֶר׀ שָׁל֗וֹם אֲדֹנִי֮ שְׁלָחַ֣נִי לֵאמֹר֒ הִנֵּ֣ה עַתָּ֡ה זֶ֠ה בָּ֣אוּ אֵלַ֧י שְׁנֵֽי־נְעָרִ֛ים מֵהַ֥ר אֶפְרַ֖יִם מִבְּנֵ֣י הַנְּבִיאִ֑ים תְּנָה־נָּ֤א לָהֶם֙ כִּכַּר־כֶּ֔סֶף וּשְׁתֵּ֖י חֲלִפ֥וֹת בְּגָדִֽים׃

‎23 ‏וַיֹּ֣אמֶר נַעֲמָ֔ן הוֹאֵ֖ל קַ֣ח כִּכָּרָ֑יִם וַיִּפְרָץ־בּ֗וֹ וַיָּצַר֩ כִּכְּרַ֨יִם כֶּ֜סֶף בִּשְׁנֵ֣י חֲרִטִ֗ים וּשְׁתֵּי֙ חֲלִפ֣וֹת בְּגָדִ֔ים וַיִּתֵּן֙ אֶל־שְׁנֵ֣י נְעָרָ֔יו וַיִּשְׂא֖וּ לְפָנָֽיו׃

‎24 ‏וַיָּבֹא֙ אֶל־הָעֹ֔פֶל וַיִּקַּ֥ח מִיָּדָ֖ם וַיִּפְקֹ֣ד בַּבָּ֑יִת וַיְשַׁלַּ֥ח אֶת־הָאֲנָשִׁ֖ים וַיֵּלֵֽכוּ׃

‎25 ‏וְהוּא־בָא֙ וַיַּעֲמֹ֣ד אֶל־אֲדֹנָ֔יו וַיֹּ֤אמֶר אֵלָיו֙ אֱלִישָׁ֔ע מאן מֵאַ֖יִן גֵּחֲזִ֑י וַיֹּ֕אמֶר לֹֽא־הָלַ֥ךְ עַבְדְּךָ֖ אָ֥נֶה וָאָֽנָה׃

‎26 ‏וַיֹּ֤אמֶר אֵלָיו֙ לֹא־לִבִּ֣י הָלַ֔ךְ כַּאֲשֶׁ֧ר הָֽפַךְ־אִ֛ישׁ מֵעַ֥ל מֶרְכַּבְתּ֖וֹ לִקְרָאתֶ֑ךָ הַעֵ֞ת לָקַ֤חַת אֶת־הַכֶּ֙סֶף֙ וְלָקַ֣חַת בְּגָדִ֔ים וְזֵיתִ֤ים וּכְרָמִים֙ וְצֹ֣אן וּבָקָ֔ר וַעֲבָדִ֖ים וּשְׁפָחֽוֹת׃

‎27 ‏וְצָרַ֤עַת נַֽעֲמָן֙ תִּֽדְבַּק־בְּךָ֔ וּֽבְזַרְעֲךָ לְעוֹלָ֑ם וַיֵּצֵ֥א מִלְּפָנָ֖יו מְצֹרָ֥ע כַּשָּֽׁלֶג׃ ס

Vul

1 Naaman princeps militiæ regis Syriæ erat vir magnus apud dominum suum, et honoratus: per illum enim dedit Dominus salutem Syriæ: erat autem vir fortis et dives, sed leprosus.

2 Porro de Syria egressi fuerant latrunculi, et captivam duxerant de terra Israël puellam parvulam, quæ erat in obsequio uxoris Naaman:

3 quæ ait ad dominam suam: Utinam fuisset dominus meus ad prophetam qui est in Samaria, profecto curasset eum a lepra quam habet.

4 Ingressus est itaque Naaman ad dominum suum, et nuntiavit ei, dicens: Sic et sic locuta est puella de terra Israël.

5 Dixitque ei rex Syriæ: Vade, et mittam litteras ad regem Israël. Qui cum profectus esset, et tulisset secum decem talenta argenti, et sex millia aureos, et decem mutatoria vestimentorum,

6 detulit litteras ad regem Israël in hæc verba: Cum acceperis epistolam hanc, scito quod miserim ad te Naaman servum meum, ut cures eum a lepra sua.

7 Cumque legisset rex Israël litteras, scidit vestimenta sua, et ait: Numquid deus ego sum, ut occidere possim et vivificare, quia iste misit ad me ut curem hominem a lepra sua? animadvertite, et videte quod occasiones quærat adversum me.

8 Quod cum audisset Eliseus vir Dei, scidisse videlicet regem Israël vestimenta sua, misit ad eum, dicens: Quare scidisti vestimenta tua? veniat ad me, et sciat esse prophetam in Israël.

9 Venit ergo Naaman cum equis et curribus, et stetit ad ostium domus Elisei:

10 misitque ad eum Eliseus nuntium, dicens: Vade, et lavare septies in Jordane, et recipiet sanitatem caro tua, atque mundaberis.

11 Iratus Naaman recedebat, dicens: Putabam quod egrederetur ad me, et stans invocaret nomen Domini Dei sui, et tangeret manu sua locum lepræ, et curaret me.

12 Numquid non meliores sunt Abana et Pharphar fluvii Damasci, omnibus aquis Israël, ut laver in eis, et munder? Cum ergo vertisset se, et abiret indignans,

13 accesserunt ad eum servi sui, et locuti sunt ei: Pater, etsi rem grandem dixisset tibi propheta, certe facere debueras: quanto magis quia nunc dixit tibi: Lavare, et mundaberis?

14 Descendit, et lavit in Jordane septies juxta sermonem viri Dei: et restituta est caro ejus sicut caro pueri parvuli, et mundatus est.

15 Reversusque ad virum Dei cum universo comitatu suo, venit, et stetit coram eo, et ait: Vere scio quod non sit alius deus in universa terra, nisi tantum in Israël. Obsecro itaque ut accipias benedictionem a servo tuo.

16 At ille respondit: Vivit Dominus, ante quem sto, quia non accipiam. Cumque vim faceret, penitus non acquievit.

17 Dixitque Naaman: Ut vis: sed, obsecro, concede mihi servo tuo ut tollam onus duorum burdonum de terra: non enim faciet ultra servus tuus holocaustum aut victimam diis alienis, nisi Domino.

18 Hoc autem solum est, de quo depreceris Dominum pro servo tuo, quando ingredietur dominus meus templum Remmon ut adoret: et illo innitente super manum meam, si adoravero in templo Remmon, adorante eo in eodem loco, ut ignoscat mihi Dominus servo tuo pro hac re.

19 Qui dixit ei: Vade in pace. Abiit ergo ab eo electo terræ tempore.

20 Dixitque Giezi puer viri Dei: Pepercit dominus meus Naaman Syro isti, ut non acciperet ab eo quæ attulit: vivit Dominus, quia curram post eum, et accipiam ab eo aliquid.

21 Et secutus est Giezi post tergum Naaman: quem cum vidisset ille currentem ad se, desiliit de curru in occursum ejus, et ait: Rectene sunt omnia?

22 Et ille ait: Recte. Dominus meus misit me ad te dicens: Modo venerunt ad me duo adolescentes de monte Ephraim, ex filiis prophetarum: da eis talentum argenti, et vestes mutatorias duplices.

23 Dixitque Naaman: Melius est ut accipias duo talenta. Et coëgit eum, ligavitque duo talenta argenti in duobus saccis, et duplicia vestimenta, et imposuit duobus pueris suis, qui et portaverunt coram eo.

24 Cumque venisset jam vesperi, tulit de manu eorum, et reposuit in domo, dimisitque viros, et abierunt.

25 Ipse autem ingressus, stetit coram domino suo. Et dixit Eliseus: Unde venis, Giezi? Qui respondit: Non ivit servus tuus quoquam.

26 At ille ait: Nonne cor meum in præsenti erat, quando reversus est homo de curru suo in occursum tui? nunc igitur accepisti argentum, et accepisti vestes ut emas oliveta, et vineas, et oves, et boves, et servos, et ancillas.

27 Sed et lepra Naaman adhærebit tibi, et semini tuo usque in sempiternum. Et egressus est ab eo leprosus quasi nix.
