1  And Ahab²⁵⁶ had seventy⁷⁶⁵⁷ sons¹¹²¹ in Samaria.⁸¹¹¹ And Jehu³⁰⁵⁸ wrote³⁷⁸⁹ letters,⁵⁶¹² and sent⁷⁹⁷¹ to Samaria,⁸¹¹¹ unto⁴¹³ the rulers⁸²⁶⁹ of Jezreel,³¹⁵⁷ to the elders,²²⁰⁵ and to⁴¹³ them that brought up⁵³⁹ Ahab's²⁵⁶ children, saying,⁵⁵⁹

2  Now⁶²⁵⁸ as soon as this²⁰⁸⁸ letter⁵⁶¹² cometh⁹³⁵ to⁴¹³ you, seeing your master's¹¹³ sons¹¹²¹ are with⁸⁵⁴ you, and there are with⁸⁵⁴ you chariots⁷³⁹³ and horses,⁵⁴⁸³ a fenced⁴⁰¹³ city⁵⁸⁹² also, and armor;⁵⁴⁰²

3  Look even out⁷²⁰⁰ the best²⁸⁹⁶ and meetest³⁴⁷⁷ of your master's sons,^{4480 1121 113} and set⁷⁷⁶⁰ him on⁵⁹²¹ his father's¹ throne,³⁶⁷⁸ and fight³⁸⁹⁸ for⁵⁹²¹ your master's¹¹³ house.¹⁰⁰⁴

4  But they were exceedingly^{3966 3966} afraid,³³⁷² and said,⁵⁵⁹ Behold,²⁰⁰⁹ two⁸¹⁴⁷ kings⁴⁴²⁸ stood⁵⁹⁷⁵ not³⁸⁰⁸ before⁶⁴⁴⁰ him: how³⁴⁹ then shall we⁵⁸⁷ stand?⁵⁹⁷⁵

5  And he that⁸³⁴ was over⁵⁹²¹ the house,¹⁰⁰⁴ and he that⁸³⁴ was over⁵⁹²¹ the city,⁵⁸⁹² the elders²²⁰⁵ also, and the bringers up⁵³⁹ of the children, sent⁷⁹⁷¹ to⁴¹³ Jehu,³⁰⁵⁸ saying,⁵⁵⁹ We⁵⁸⁷ are thy servants,⁵⁶⁵⁰ and will do⁶²¹³ all³⁶⁰⁵ that⁸³⁴ thou shalt bid^{559 413} us; we will not³⁸⁰⁸ make any king:^{4427 376} do⁶²¹³ thou that which is good²⁸⁹⁶ in thine eyes.⁵⁸⁶⁹

6  Then he wrote³⁷⁸⁹ a letter⁵⁶¹² the second time⁸¹⁴⁵ to⁴¹³ them, saying,⁵⁵⁹ If⁵¹⁸ ye⁸⁵⁹ be mine, and if ye⁸⁵⁹ will hearken⁸⁰⁸⁵ unto my voice,⁶⁹⁶³ take³⁹⁴⁷ ye ⁸⁵³ the heads⁷²¹⁸ of the men³⁷⁶ your master's¹¹³ sons,¹¹²¹ and come⁹³⁵ to⁴¹³ me to Jezreel³¹⁵⁷ by tomorrow⁴²⁷⁹ this time.⁶²⁵⁶ Now the king's⁴⁴²⁸ sons,¹¹²¹ being seventy⁷⁶⁵⁷ persons,³⁷⁶ were with⁸⁵⁴ the great men¹⁴¹⁹ of the city,⁵⁸⁹² which brought them up.^{1431 853}

7  And it came to pass,¹⁹⁶¹ when the letter⁵⁶¹² came⁹³⁵ to⁴¹³ them, that they took^{3947 853} the king's⁴⁴²⁸ sons,¹¹²¹ and slew⁷⁸¹⁹ seventy⁷⁶⁵⁷ persons,³⁷⁶ and put^{7760 853} their heads⁷²¹⁸ in baskets,¹⁷³¹ and sent^{7971 413} him them to Jezreel.³¹⁵⁷

8  And there came⁹³⁵ a messenger,⁴³⁹⁷ and told⁵⁰⁴⁶ him, saying,⁵⁵⁹ They have brought⁹³⁵ the heads⁷²¹⁸ of the king's⁴⁴²⁸ sons.¹¹²¹ And he said,⁵⁵⁹ Lay⁷⁷⁶⁰ ye them in two⁸¹⁴⁷ heaps⁶⁶⁵² at the entering in⁶⁶⁰⁷ of the gate⁸¹⁷⁹ until⁵⁷⁰⁴ the morning.¹²⁴²

9  And it came to pass¹⁹⁶¹ in the morning,¹²⁴² that he went out,³³¹⁸ and stood,⁵⁹⁷⁵ and said⁵⁵⁹ to⁴¹³ all³⁶⁰⁵ the people,⁵⁹⁷¹ Ye⁸⁵⁹ be righteous:⁶⁶⁶² behold,²⁰⁰⁹ I⁵⁸⁹ conspired⁷¹⁹⁴ against⁵⁹²¹ my master,¹¹³ and slew²⁰²⁶ him: but who⁴³¹⁰ slew^{5221 853} all³⁶⁰⁵ these?⁴²⁸

10  Know³⁰⁴⁵ now⁶⁴⁵ that³⁵⁸⁸ there shall fall⁵³⁰⁷ unto the earth⁷⁷⁶ nothing³⁸⁰⁸ of the word^{4480 1697} of the LORD,³⁰⁶⁸ which⁸³⁴ the LORD³⁰⁶⁸ spoke¹⁶⁹⁶ concerning⁵⁹²¹ the house¹⁰⁰⁴ of Ahab:²⁵⁶ for the LORD³⁰⁶⁸ hath done^{6213 853} that which⁸³⁴ he spoke¹⁶⁹⁶ by³⁰²⁷ his servant⁵⁶⁵⁰ Elijah.⁴⁵²

11  So Jehu³⁰⁵⁸ slew^{5221 853} all³⁶⁰⁵ that remained⁷⁶⁰⁴ of the house¹⁰⁰⁴ of Ahab²⁵⁶ in Jezreel,³¹⁵⁷ and all³⁶⁰⁵ his great men,¹⁴¹⁹ and his kinsfolk,³⁰⁴⁵ and his priests,³⁵⁴⁸ until⁵⁷⁰⁴ he left⁷⁶⁰⁴ him none¹¹¹⁵ remaining.⁸³⁰⁰

12  And he arose⁶⁹⁶⁵ and departed,⁹³⁵ and came¹⁹⁸⁰ to Samaria.⁸¹¹¹ And as he¹⁹³¹ was at the shearing house¹⁰⁴⁴ in the way,¹⁸⁷⁰

13  Jehu³⁰⁵⁸ met⁴⁶⁷² with ⁸⁵³ the brethren²⁵¹ of Ahaziah²⁷⁴ king⁴⁴²⁸ of Judah,³⁰⁶³ and said,⁵⁵⁹ Who⁴³¹⁰ are ye?⁸⁵⁹ And they answered,⁵⁵⁹ We⁵⁸⁷ are the brethren²⁵¹ of Ahaziah;²⁷⁴ and we go down³³⁸¹ to salute⁷⁹⁶⁵ the children¹¹²¹ of the king⁴⁴²⁸ and the children¹¹²¹ of the queen.¹³⁷⁷

14  And he said,⁵⁵⁹ Take⁸⁶¹⁰ them alive.²⁴¹⁶ And they took⁸⁶¹⁰ them alive,²⁴¹⁶ and slew⁷⁸¹⁹ them at⁴¹³ the pit⁹⁵³ of the shearing house,¹⁰⁴⁴ even two⁸¹⁴⁷ and forty⁷⁰⁵ men;³⁷⁶ neither³⁸⁰⁸ left⁷⁶⁰⁴ he any³⁷⁶ of⁴⁴⁸⁰ them.

15  And when he was departed¹⁹⁸⁰ thence,^{4480 8033} he lighted on^{4672 853} Jehonadab³⁰⁸² the son¹¹²¹ of Rechab⁷³⁹⁴ coming to meet⁷¹²² him: and he saluted¹²⁸⁸ him, and said⁵⁵⁹ to⁴¹³ him, Is^{3426 853} thine heart³⁸²⁴ right,³⁴⁷⁷ as⁸³⁴ my heart³⁸²⁴ is with⁵⁹⁷³ thy heart?³⁸²⁴ And Jehonadab³⁰⁸² answered,⁵⁵⁹ It is.³⁴²⁶ If it be,³⁴²⁶ give⁵⁴¹⁴ me ⁸⁵³ thine hand.³⁰²⁷ And he gave⁵⁴¹⁴ him his hand;³⁰²⁷ and he took him up⁵⁹²⁷ to⁴¹³ him into⁴¹³ the chariot.⁴⁸¹⁸

16  And he said,⁵⁵⁹ Come¹⁹⁸⁰ with⁸⁵⁴ me, and see⁷²⁰⁰ my zeal⁷⁰⁶⁸ for the LORD.³⁰⁶⁸ So they made him ride⁷³⁹² in his chariot.⁷³⁹³

17  And when he came⁹³⁵ to Samaria,⁸¹¹¹ he slew^{5221 853} all³⁶⁰⁵ that remained⁷⁶⁰⁴ unto Ahab²⁵⁶ in Samaria,⁸¹¹¹ till⁵⁷⁰⁴ he had destroyed⁸⁰⁴⁵ him, according to the saying¹⁶⁹⁷ of the LORD,³⁰⁶⁸ which⁸³⁴ he spoke¹⁶⁹⁶ to⁴¹³ Elijah.⁴⁵²

18  And Jehu³⁰⁵⁸ gathered^{6908 853} all³⁶⁰⁵ the people⁵⁹⁷¹ together, and said⁵⁵⁹ unto⁴¹³ them, Ahab²⁵⁶ served^{5647 853} Baal¹¹⁶⁸ a little;⁴⁵⁹² but Jehu³⁰⁵⁸ shall serve⁵⁶⁴⁷ him much.⁷²³⁵

19  Now⁶²⁵⁸ therefore call⁷¹²¹ unto⁴¹³ me all³⁶⁰⁵ the prophets⁵⁰³⁰ of Baal,¹¹⁶⁸ all³⁶⁰⁵ his servants,⁵⁶⁴⁷ and all³⁶⁰⁵ his priests;³⁵⁴⁸ let none^{376 408} be wanting:⁶⁴⁸⁵ for³⁵⁸⁸ I have a great¹⁴¹⁹ sacrifice²⁰⁷⁷ to do to Baal;¹¹⁶⁸ whosoever^{3605 834} shall be wanting,⁶⁴⁸⁵ he shall not³⁸⁰⁸ live.²⁴²¹ But Jehu³⁰⁵⁸ did⁶²¹³ it in subtlety,⁶¹²² to the intent⁴⁶¹⁶ that he might destroy^{6 853} the worshipers⁵⁶⁴⁷ of Baal.¹¹⁶⁸

20  And Jehu³⁰⁵⁸ said,⁵⁵⁹ Proclaim⁶⁹⁴² a solemn assembly⁶¹¹⁶ for Baal.¹¹⁶⁸ And they proclaimed⁷¹²¹ it.

21  And Jehu³⁰⁵⁸ sent⁷⁹⁷¹ through all³⁶⁰⁵ Israel:³⁴⁷⁸ and all³⁶⁰⁵ the worshipers⁵⁶⁴⁷ of Baal¹¹⁶⁸ came,⁹³⁵ so that there was not³⁸⁰⁸ a man³⁷⁶ left⁷⁶⁰⁴ that⁸³⁴ came⁹³⁵ not.³⁸⁰⁸ And they came⁹³⁵ into the house¹⁰⁰⁴ of Baal;¹¹⁶⁸ and the house¹⁰⁰⁴ of Baal¹¹⁶⁸ was full⁴³⁹⁰ from one end⁶³¹⁰ to another.⁶³¹⁰

22  And he said⁵⁵⁹ unto him that⁸³⁴ was over⁵⁹²¹ the vestry,⁴⁴⁵⁸ Bring forth³³¹⁸ vestments³⁸³⁰ for all³⁶⁰⁵ the worshipers⁵⁶⁴⁷ of Baal.¹¹⁶⁸ And he brought them forth³³¹⁸ vestments.⁴⁴⁰³

23  And Jehu³⁰⁵⁸ went,⁹³⁵ and Jehonadab³⁰⁸² the son¹¹²¹ of Rechab,⁷³⁹⁴ into the house¹⁰⁰⁴ of Baal,¹¹⁶⁸ and said⁵⁵⁹ unto the worshipers⁵⁶⁴⁷ of Baal,¹¹⁶⁸ Search,²⁶⁶⁴ and look⁷²⁰⁰ that⁶⁴³⁵ there be³⁴²⁶ here⁶³¹¹ with⁵⁹⁷³ you none of the servants^{4480 5650} of the LORD,³⁰⁶⁸ but^{3588 518} the worshipers⁵⁶⁴⁷ of Baal¹¹⁶⁸ only.⁹⁰⁵

24  And when they went in⁹³⁵ to offer⁶²¹³ sacrifices²⁰⁷⁷ and burnt offerings,⁵⁹³⁰ Jehu³⁰⁵⁸ appointed⁷⁷⁶⁰ fourscore⁸⁰⁸⁴ men³⁷⁶ without,²³⁵¹ and said,⁵⁵⁹ If any³⁷⁶ of⁴⁴⁸⁰ the men³⁷⁶ whom⁸³⁴ I⁵⁸⁹ have brought⁹³⁵ into⁵⁹²¹ your hands³⁰²⁷ escape,⁴⁴²² he that letteth him go, his life⁵³¹⁵ shall be for⁸⁴⁷⁸ the life⁵³¹⁵ of him.

25  And it came to pass,¹⁹⁶¹ as soon as he had made an end³⁶¹⁵ of offering⁶²¹³ the burnt offering,⁵⁹³⁰ that Jehu³⁰⁵⁸ said⁵⁵⁹ to the guard⁷³²³ and to the captains,⁷⁹⁹¹ Go in,⁹³⁵ and slay⁵²²¹ them; let none^{376 408} come forth.³³¹⁸ And they smote⁵²²¹ them with the edge⁶³¹⁰ of the sword;²⁷¹⁹ and the guard⁷³²³ and the captains⁷⁹⁹¹ cast them out,⁷⁹⁹³ and went¹⁹⁸⁰ to⁵⁷⁰⁴ the city⁵⁸⁹² of the house¹⁰⁰⁴ of Baal.¹¹⁶⁸

26  And they brought forth^{3318 853} the images⁴⁶⁷⁶ out of the house¹⁰⁰⁴ of Baal,¹¹⁶⁸ and burned⁸³¹³ them.

27  And they broke down^{5422 853} the image⁴⁶⁷⁶ of Baal,¹¹⁶⁸ and broke down^{5422 853} the house¹⁰⁰⁴ of Baal,¹¹⁶⁸ and made⁷⁷⁶⁰ it a draught house⁴¹⁶³ unto⁵⁷⁰⁴ this day.³¹¹⁷

28  Thus Jehu³⁰⁵⁸ destroyed^{8045 853} Baal¹¹⁶⁸ out of Israel.^{4480 3478}

29  Howbeit⁷⁵³⁵ from the sins²³⁹⁹ of Jeroboam³³⁷⁹ the son¹¹²¹ of Nebat,⁵⁰²⁸ who⁸³⁴ made ⁸⁵³ Israel³⁴⁷⁸ to sin,²³⁹⁸ Jehu³⁰⁵⁸ departed⁵⁴⁹³ not³⁸⁰⁸ from after^{4480 310} them, to wit, the golden²⁰⁹¹ calves⁵⁶⁹⁵ that⁸³⁴ were in Bethel,¹⁰⁰⁸ and that⁸³⁴ were in Dan.¹⁸³⁵

30  And the LORD³⁰⁶⁸ said⁵⁵⁹ unto⁴¹³ Jehu,³⁰⁵⁸ Because^{3282 834} thou hast done well²⁸⁹⁵ in executing⁶²¹³ that which is right³⁴⁷⁷ in mine eyes,⁵⁸⁶⁹ and hast done⁶²¹³ unto the house¹⁰⁰⁴ of Ahab²⁵⁶ according to all³⁶⁰⁵ that⁸³⁴ was in mine heart,³⁸²⁴ thy children¹¹²¹ of the fourth⁷²⁴³ generation shall sit³⁴²⁷ on⁵⁹²¹ the throne³⁶⁷⁸ of Israel.³⁴⁷⁸

31  But Jehu³⁰⁵⁸ took no heed^{8104 3808} to walk¹⁹⁸⁰ in the law⁸⁴⁵¹ of the LORD³⁰⁶⁸ God⁴³⁰ of Israel³⁴⁷⁸ with all³⁶⁰⁵ his heart:³⁸²⁴ for he departed⁵⁴⁹³ not³⁸⁰⁸ from^{4480 5921} the sins²⁴⁰³ of Jeroboam,³³⁷⁹ which⁸³⁴ made ⁸⁵³ Israel³⁴⁷⁸ to sin.²³⁹⁸

32  In those¹⁹⁹² days³¹¹⁷ the LORD³⁰⁶⁸ began²⁴⁹⁰ to cut Israel short:^{7096 3478} and Hazael²³⁷¹ smote⁵²²¹ them in all³⁶⁰⁵ the coasts¹³⁶⁶ of Israel;³⁴⁷⁸

33  From⁴⁴⁸⁰ Jordan³³⁸³ eastward,^{4217 8121 853} all³⁶⁰⁵ the land⁷⁷⁶ of Gilead,¹⁵⁶⁸ the Gadites,¹⁴²⁵ and the Reubenites,⁷²⁰⁶ and the Manassites,⁴⁵²⁰ from Aroer,^{4480 6177} which⁸³⁴ is by⁵⁹²¹ the river⁵¹⁵⁸ Arnon,⁷⁶⁹ even Gilead¹⁵⁶⁸ and Bashan.¹³¹⁶

34  Now the rest³⁴⁹⁹ of the acts¹⁶⁹⁷ of Jehu,³⁰⁵⁸ and all³⁶⁰⁵ that⁸³⁴ he did,⁶²¹³ and all³⁶⁰⁵ his might,¹³⁶⁹ are they¹⁹⁹² not³⁸⁰⁸ written³⁷⁸⁹ in⁵⁹²¹ the book⁵⁶¹² of the chronicles^{1697 3117} of the kings⁴⁴²⁸ of Israel?³⁴⁷⁸

35  And Jehu³⁰⁵⁸ slept⁷⁹⁰¹ with⁵⁹⁷³ his fathers:¹ and they buried⁶⁹¹² him in Samaria.⁸¹¹¹ And Jehoahaz³⁰⁵⁹ his son¹¹²¹ reigned⁴⁴²⁷ in his stead.⁸⁴⁷⁸

36  And the time³¹¹⁷ that⁸³⁴ Jehu³⁰⁵⁸ reigned⁴⁴²⁷ over⁵⁹²¹ Israel³⁴⁷⁸ in Samaria⁸¹¹¹ was twenty⁶²⁴² and eight⁸⁰⁸³ years.⁸¹⁴¹

1 καὶ τῷ Αχααβ ἑβδομήκοντα υἱοὶ ἐν Σαμαρείᾳ καὶ ἔγραψεν Ιου βιβλίον καὶ ἀπέστειλεν ἐν Σαμαρείᾳ πρὸς τοὺς ἄρχοντας Σαμαρείας καὶ πρὸς τοὺς πρεσβυτέρους καὶ πρὸς τοὺς τιθηνοὺς υἱῶν Αχααβ λέγων

2 καὶ νῦν ὡς ἐὰν ἔλθῃ τὸ βιβλίον τοῦτο πρὸς ὑμᾶς μεθ᾽ ὑμῶν οἱ υἱοὶ τοῦ κυρίου ὑμῶν καὶ μεθ᾽ ὑμῶν τὸ ἅρμα καὶ οἱ ἵπποι καὶ πόλεις ὀχυραὶ καὶ τὰ ὅπλα

3 καὶ ὄψεσθε τὸν ἀγαθὸν καὶ τὸν εὐθῆ ἐν τοῖς υἱοῖς τοῦ κυρίου ὑμῶν καὶ καταστήσετε αὐτὸν ἐπὶ τὸν θρόνον τοῦ πατρὸς αὐτοῦ καὶ πολεμεῖτε ὑπὲρ τοῦ οἴκου τοῦ κυρίου ὑμῶν

4 καὶ ἐφοβήθησαν σφόδρα καὶ εἶπον ἰδοὺ οἱ δύο βασιλεῖς οὐκ ἔστησαν κατὰ πρόσωπον αὐτοῦ καὶ πῶς στησόμεθα ἡμεῖς

5 καὶ ἀπέστειλαν οἱ ἐπὶ τοῦ οἴκου καὶ οἱ ἐπὶ τῆς πόλεως καὶ οἱ πρεσβύτεροι καὶ οἱ τιθηνοὶ πρὸς Ιου λέγοντες παῖδές σου ἡμεῖς καὶ ὅσα ἐὰν εἴπῃς πρὸς ἡμᾶς ποιήσομεν οὐ βασιλεύσομεν ἄνδρα τὸ ἀγαθὸν ἐν ὀφθαλμοῖς σου ποιήσομεν

6 καὶ ἔγραψεν πρὸς αὐτοὺς βιβλίον δεύτερον λέγων εἰ ἐμοὶ ὑμεῖς καὶ τῆς φωνῆς μου ὑμεῖς εἰσακούετε λάβετε τὴν κεφαλὴν ἀνδρῶν τῶν υἱῶν τοῦ κυρίου ὑμῶν καὶ ἐνέγκατε πρός με ὡς ἡ ὥρα αὔριον εἰς Ιεζραελ καὶ οἱ υἱοὶ τοῦ βασιλέως ἦσαν ἑβδομήκοντα ἄνδρες οὗτοι ἁδροὶ τῆς πόλεως ἐξέτρεφον αὐτούς

7 καὶ ἐγένετο ὡς ἦλθεν τὸ βιβλίον πρὸς αὐτούς καὶ ἔλαβον τοὺς υἱοὺς τοῦ βασιλέως καὶ ἔσφαξαν αὐτούς ἑβδομήκοντα ἄνδρας καὶ ἔθηκαν τὰς κεφαλὰς αὐτῶν ἐν καρτάλλοις καὶ ἀπέστειλαν αὐτὰς πρὸς αὐτὸν εἰς Ιεζραελ

8 καὶ ἦλθεν ὁ ἄγγελος καὶ ἀπήγγειλεν λέγων ἤνεγκαν τὰς κεφαλὰς τῶν υἱῶν τοῦ βασιλέως καὶ εἶπεν θέτε αὐτὰς βουνοὺς δύο παρὰ τὴν θύραν τῆς πύλης εἰς πρωί

9 καὶ ἐγένετο πρωὶ καὶ ἐξῆλθεν καὶ ἔστη ἐν τῷ πυλῶνι τῆς πόλεως καὶ εἶπεν πρὸς πάντα τὸν λαόν δίκαιοι ὑμεῖς ἰδοὺ ἐγώ εἰμι συνεστράφην ἐπὶ τὸν κύριόν μου καὶ ἀπέκτεινα αὐτόν καὶ τίς ἐπάταξεν πάντας τούτους

10 ἴδετε αφφω ὅτι οὐ πεσεῖται ἀπὸ τοῦ ῥήματος κυρίου εἰς τὴν γῆν οὗ ἐλάλησεν κύριος ἐπὶ τὸν οἶκον Αχααβ καὶ κύριος ἐποίησεν ὅσα ἐλάλησεν ἐν χειρὶ δούλου αὐτοῦ Ηλιου

11 καὶ ἐπάταξεν Ιου πάντας τοὺς καταλειφθέντας ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ Αχααβ ἐν Ιεζραελ καὶ πάντας τοὺς ἁδροὺς αὐτοῦ καὶ τοὺς γνωστοὺς αὐτοῦ καὶ τοὺς ἱερεῖς αὐτοῦ ὥστε μὴ καταλιπεῖν αὐτοῦ κατάλειμμα

12 καὶ ἀνέστη καὶ ἐπορεύθη εἰς Σαμάρειαν αὐτὸς ἐν Βαιθακαδ τῶν ποιμένων ἐν τῇ ὁδῷ

13 καὶ Ιου εὗρεν τοὺς ἀδελφοὺς Οχοζιου βασιλέως Ιουδα καὶ εἶπεν τίνες ὑμεῖς καὶ εἶπον οἱ ἀδελφοὶ Οχοζιου ἡμεῖς καὶ κατέβημεν εἰς εἰρήνην τῶν υἱῶν τοῦ βασιλέως καὶ τῶν υἱῶν τῆς δυναστευούσης

14 καὶ εἶπεν συλλάβετε αὐτοὺς ζῶντας καὶ συνέλαβον αὐτοὺς ζῶντας καὶ ἔσφαξαν αὐτοὺς εἰς Βαιθακαδ τεσσαράκοντα καὶ δύο ἄνδρας οὐ κατέλιπεν ἄνδρα ἐξ αὐτῶν

15 καὶ ἐπορεύθη ἐκεῖθεν καὶ εὗρεν τὸν Ιωναδαβ υἱὸν Ρηχαβ ἐν τῇ ὁδῷ εἰς ἀπαντὴν αὐτοῦ καὶ εὐλόγησεν αὐτόν καὶ εἶπεν πρὸς αὐτὸν Ιου εἰ ἔστιν καρδία σου μετὰ καρδίας μου εὐθεῖα καθὼς ἡ καρδία μου μετὰ τῆς καρδίας σου καὶ εἶπεν Ιωναδαβ ἔστιν καὶ εἶπεν Ιου καὶ εἰ ἔστιν δὸς τὴν χεῖρά σου καὶ ἔδωκεν τὴν χεῖρα αὐτοῦ καὶ ἀνεβίβασεν αὐτὸν πρὸς αὐτὸν ἐπὶ τὸ ἅρμα

16 καὶ εἶπεν πρὸς αὐτόν δεῦρο μετ᾽ ἐμοῦ καὶ ἰδὲ ἐν τῷ ζηλῶσαί με τῷ κυρίῳ Σαβαωθ καὶ ἐπεκάθισεν αὐτὸν ἐν τῷ ἅρματι αὐτοῦ

17 καὶ εἰσῆλθεν εἰς Σαμάρειαν καὶ ἐπάταξεν πάντας τοὺς καταλειφθέντας τοῦ Αχααβ ἐν Σαμαρείᾳ ἕως τοῦ ἀφανίσαι αὐτὸν κατὰ τὸ ῥῆμα κυρίου ὃ ἐλάλησεν πρὸς Ηλιου

18 καὶ συνήθροισεν Ιου πάντα τὸν λαὸν καὶ εἶπεν πρὸς αὐτούς Αχααβ ἐδούλευσεν τῷ Βααλ ὀλίγα καί γε Ιου δουλεύσει αὐτῷ πολλά

19 καὶ νῦν πάντες οἱ προφῆται τοῦ Βααλ πάντας τοὺς δούλους αὐτοῦ καὶ τοὺς ἱερεῖς αὐτοῦ καλέσατε πρός με ἀνὴρ μὴ ἐπισκεπήτω ὅτι θυσία μεγάλη μοι τῷ Βααλ πᾶς ὃς ἐὰν ἐπισκεπῇ οὐ ζήσεται καὶ Ιου ἐποίησεν ἐν πτερνισμῷ ἵνα ἀπολέσῃ τοὺς δούλους τοῦ Βααλ

20 καὶ εἶπεν Ιου ἁγιάσατε ἱερείαν τῷ Βααλ καὶ ἐκήρυξαν

21 καὶ ἀπέστειλεν Ιου ἐν παντὶ Ισραηλ λέγων καὶ νῦν πάντες οἱ δοῦλοι τοῦ Βααλ καὶ πάντες οἱ ἱερεῖς αὐτοῦ καὶ πάντες οἱ προφῆται αὐτοῦ μηδεὶς ἀπολειπέσθω ὅτι θυσίαν μεγάλην ποιῶ ὃς ἂν ἀπολειφθῇ οὐ ζήσεται καὶ ἦλθον πάντες οἱ δοῦλοι τοῦ Βααλ καὶ πάντες οἱ ἱερεῖς αὐτοῦ καὶ πάντες οἱ προφῆται αὐτοῦ οὐ κατελείφθη ἀνήρ ὃς οὐ παρεγένετο καὶ εἰσῆλθον εἰς τὸν οἶκον τοῦ Βααλ καὶ ἐπλήσθη ὁ οἶκος τοῦ Βααλ στόμα εἰς στόμα

22 καὶ εἶπεν Ιου τῷ ἐπὶ τοῦ οἴκου μεσθααλ ἐξάγαγε ἐνδύματα πᾶσι τοῖς δούλοις τοῦ Βααλ καὶ ἐξήνεγκεν αὐτοῖς ὁ στολιστής

23 καὶ εἰσῆλθεν Ιου καὶ Ιωναδαβ υἱὸς Ρηχαβ εἰς οἶκον τοῦ Βααλ καὶ εἶπεν τοῖς δούλοις τοῦ Βααλ ἐρευνήσατε καὶ ἴδετε εἰ ἔστιν μεθ᾽ ὑμῶν τῶν δούλων κυρίου ὅτι ἀλλ᾽ ἢ οἱ δοῦλοι τοῦ Βααλ μονώτατοι

24 καὶ εἰσῆλθεν τοῦ ποιῆσαι τὰ θύματα καὶ τὰ ὁλοκαυτώματα καὶ Ιου ἔταξεν ἑαυτῷ ἔξω ὀγδοήκοντα ἄνδρας καὶ εἶπεν ἀνήρ ὃς ἐὰν διασωθῇ ἀπὸ τῶν ἀνδρῶν ὧν ἐγὼ ἀνάγω ἐπὶ χεῖρας ὑμῶν ἡ ψυχὴ αὐτοῦ ἀντὶ τῆς ψυχῆς αὐτοῦ

25 καὶ ἐγένετο ὡς συνετέλεσεν ποιῶν τὴν ὁλοκαύτωσιν καὶ εἶπεν Ιου τοῖς παρατρέχουσιν καὶ τοῖς τριστάταις εἰσελθόντες πατάξατε αὐτούς ἀνὴρ μὴ ἐξελθάτω ἐξ αὐτῶν καὶ ἐπάταξαν αὐτοὺς ἐν στόματι ῥομφαίας καὶ ἔρριψαν οἱ παρατρέχοντες καὶ οἱ τριστάται καὶ ἐπορεύθησαν ἕως πόλεως οἴκου τοῦ Βααλ

26 καὶ ἐξήνεγκαν τὴν στήλην τοῦ Βααλ καὶ ἐνέπρησαν αὐτήν

27 καὶ κατέσπασαν τὰς στήλας τοῦ Βααλ καὶ καθεῖλον τὸν οἶκον τοῦ Βααλ καὶ ἔταξαν αὐτὸν εἰς λυτρῶνας ἕως τῆς ἡμέρας ταύτης

28 καὶ ἠφάνισεν Ιου τὸν Βααλ ἐξ Ισραηλ

29 πλὴν ἁμαρτιῶν Ιεροβοαμ υἱοῦ Ναβατ ὃς ἐξήμαρτεν τὸν Ισραηλ οὐκ ἀπέστη Ιου ἀπὸ ὄπισθεν αὐτῶν αἱ δαμάλεις αἱ χρυσαῖ ἐν Βαιθηλ καὶ ἐν Δαν

30 καὶ εἶπεν κύριος πρὸς Ιου ἀνθ᾽ ὧν ὅσα ἠγάθυνας ποιῆσαι τὸ εὐθὲς ἐν ὀφθαλμοῖς μου καὶ πάντα ὅσα ἐν τῇ καρδίᾳ μου ἐποίησας τῷ οἴκῳ Αχααβ υἱοὶ τέταρτοι καθήσονταί σοι ἐπὶ θρόνου Ισραηλ

31 καὶ Ιου οὐκ ἐφύλαξεν πορεύεσθαι ἐν νόμῳ κυρίου θεοῦ Ισραηλ ἐν ὅλῃ καρδίᾳ αὐτοῦ οὐκ ἀπέστη ἐπάνωθεν ἁμαρτιῶν Ιεροβοαμ υἱοῦ Ναβατ ὃς ἐξήμαρτεν τὸν Ισραηλ

32 ἐν ταῖς ἡμέραις ἐκείναις ἤρξατο κύριος συγκόπτειν ἐν τῷ Ισραηλ καὶ ἐπάταξεν αὐτοὺς Αζαηλ ἐν παντὶ ὁρίῳ Ισραηλ

33 ἀπὸ τοῦ Ιορδάνου κατ᾽ ἀνατολὰς ἡλίου πᾶσαν τὴν γῆν Γαλααδ τοῦ Γαδδι καὶ τοῦ Ρουβην καὶ τοῦ Μανασση ἀπὸ Αροηρ ἥ ἐστιν ἐπὶ τοῦ χείλους χειμάρρου Αρνων καὶ τὴν Γαλααδ καὶ τὴν Βασαν

34 καὶ τὰ λοιπὰ τῶν λόγων Ιου καὶ πάντα ὅσα ἐποίησεν καὶ πᾶσα ἡ δυναστεία αὐτοῦ καὶ τὰς συνάψεις ἃς συνῆψεν οὐχὶ ταῦτα γεγραμμένα ἐπὶ βιβλίῳ λόγων τῶν ἡμερῶν τοῖς βασιλεῦσιν Ισραηλ

35 καὶ ἐκοιμήθη Ιου μετὰ τῶν πατέρων αὐτοῦ καὶ ἔθαψαν αὐτὸν ἐν Σαμαρείᾳ καὶ ἐβασίλευσεν Ιωαχας υἱὸς αὐτοῦ ἀντ᾽ αὐτοῦ

36 καὶ αἱ ἡμέραι ἃς ἐβασίλευσεν Ιου ἐπὶ Ισραηλ εἴκοσι ὀκτὼ ἔτη ἐν Σαμαρείᾳ

‎1 ‏וּלְאַחְאָ֛ב שִׁבְעִ֥ים בָּנִ֖ים בְּשֹׁמְר֑וֹן וַיִּכְתֹּב֩ יֵה֨וּא סְפָרִ֜ים וַיִּשְׁלַ֣ח שֹׁמְר֗וֹן אֶל־שָׂרֵ֤י יִזְרְעֶאל֙ הַזְּקֵנִ֔ים וְאֶל־הָאֹמְנִ֥ים אַחְאָ֖ב לֵאמֹֽר׃

‎2 ‏וְעַתָּ֗ה כְּבֹ֨א³ הַסֵּ֤פֶר הַזֶּה֙ אֲלֵיכֶ֔ם וְאִתְּכֶ֖ם בְּנֵ֣י אֲדֹנֵיכֶ֑ם וְאִתְּכֶם֙ הָרֶ֣כֶב וְהַסּוּסִ֔ים וְעִ֥יר מִבְצָ֖ר וְהַנָּֽשֶׁק׃

‎3 ‏וּרְאִיתֶ֞ם הַטּ֤וֹב וְהַיָּשָׁר֙ מִבְּנֵ֣י אֲדֹנֵיכֶ֔ם וְשַׂמְתֶּ֖ם עַל־כִּסֵּ֣א אָבִ֑יו וְהִֽלָּחֲמ֖וּ עַל־בֵּ֥ית אֲדֹנֵיכֶֽם׃

‎4 ‏וַיִּֽרְאוּ֙ מְאֹ֣ד מְאֹ֔ד וַיֹּ֣אמְר֔וּ הִנֵּה֙ שְׁנֵ֣י הַמְּלָכִ֔ים לֹ֥א עָמְד֖וּ לְפָנָ֑יו וְאֵ֖יךְ נַעֲמֹ֥ד אֲנָֽחְנוּ׃

‎5 ‏וַיִּשְׁלַ֣ח אֲשֶׁר־עַל־הַבַּ֣יִת וַאֲשֶׁ֪ר עַל־הָעִ֟יר וְהַזְּקֵנִים֩ וְהָאֹמְנִ֨ים אֶל־יֵה֤וּא׀ לֵאמֹר֙ עֲבָדֶ֣יךָ אֲנַ֔חְנוּ וְכֹ֛ל אֲשֶׁר־תֹּאמַ֥ר אֵלֵ֖ינוּ נַעֲשֶׂ֑ה לֹֽא־נַמְלִ֣יךְ אִ֔ישׁ הַטּ֥וֹב בְּעֵינֶ֖יךָ עֲשֵֽׂה׃

‎6 ‏וַיִּכְתֹּ֣ב אֲלֵיהֶם֩ סֵ֨פֶר׀ שֵׁנִ֜ית לֵאמֹ֗ר אִם־לִ֨י אַתֶּ֜ם וּלְקֹלִ֣י׀ אַתֶּ֣ם שֹׁמְעִ֗ים קְחוּ֙ אֶת־רָאשֵׁי֙ אַנְשֵׁ֣י בְנֵֽי־אֲדֹנֵיכֶ֔ם וּבֹ֧אוּ אֵלַ֛י כָּעֵ֥ת מָחָ֖ר יִזְרְעֶ֑אלָה וּבְנֵ֤י הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ שִׁבְעִ֣ים אִ֔ישׁ אֶת־גְּדֹלֵ֥י הָעִ֖יר מְגַדְּלִ֥ים אוֹתָֽם׃

‎7 ‏וַיְהִ֗י כְּבֹ֤א הַסֵּ֙פֶר֙ אֲלֵיהֶ֔ם וַיִּקְחוּ֙ אֶת־בְּנֵ֣י הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ וַֽיִּשְׁחֲט֖וּ שִׁבְעִ֣ים אִ֑ישׁ וַיָּשִׂ֤ימוּ אֶת־רָֽאשֵׁיהֶם֙ בַּדּוּדִ֔ים וַיִּשְׁלְח֥וּ אֵלָ֖יו יִזְרְעֶֽאלָה׃

‎8 ‏וַיָּבֹ֤א הַמַּלְאָךְ֙ וַיַּגֶּד־ל֣וֹ לֵאמֹ֔ר הֵבִ֖יאוּ רָאשֵׁ֣י בְנֵֽי־הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ וַיֹּ֗אמֶר שִׂ֣ימוּ אֹתָ֞ם שְׁנֵ֧י צִבֻּרִ֛ים פֶּ֥תַח הַשַּׁ֖עַר עַד־הַבֹּֽקֶר׃

‎9 ‏וַיְהִ֤י בַבֹּ֙קֶר֙ וַיֵּצֵ֣א וַֽיַּעֲמֹ֔ד וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ אֶל־כָּל־הָעָ֔ם צַדִּקִ֖ים אַתֶּ֑ם הִנֵּ֨ה אֲנִ֜י קָשַׁ֤רְתִּי עַל־אֲדֹנִי֙ וָאֶהְרְגֵ֔הוּ וּמִ֥י הִכָּ֖ה אֶת־כָּל־אֵֽלֶּה׃

‎10 ‏דְּע֣וּ אֵפ֗וֹא כִּי֩ לֹ֨א יִפֹּ֜ל מִדְּבַ֤ר יְהוָה֙ אַ֔רְצָה אֲשֶׁר־דִּבֶּ֥ר יְהוָ֖ה עַל־בֵּ֣ית אַחְאָ֑ב וַיהוָ֣ה עָשָׂ֔ה אֵ֚ת אֲשֶׁ֣ר דִּבֶּ֔ר בְּיַ֖ד עַבְדּ֥וֹ אֵלִיָּֽהוּ׃

‎11 ‏וַיַּ֣ךְ יֵה֗וּא אֵ֣ת כָּל־הַנִּשְׁאָרִ֤ים לְבֵית־אַחְאָב֙ בְּיִזְרְעֶ֔אל וְכָל־גְּדֹלָ֖יו וּמְיֻדָּעָ֣יו וְכֹהֲנָ֑יו עַד־בִּלְתִּ֥י הִשְׁאִֽיר־ל֖וֹ שָׂרִֽיד׃

‎12 ‏וַיָּ֙קָם֙ וַיָּבֹ֔א וַיֵּ֖לֶךְ שֹׁמְר֑וֹן ה֛וּא בֵּֽית־עֵ֥קֶד הָרֹעִ֖ים בַּדָּֽרֶךְ׃

‎13 ‏וְיֵה֗וּא מָצָא֙ אֶת־אֲחֵי֙ אֲחַזְיָ֣הוּ מֶֽלֶךְ־יְהוּדָ֔ה וַיֹּ֖אמֶר מִ֣י אַתֶּ֑ם וַיֹּאמְר֗וּ אֲחֵ֤י אֲחַזְיָ֙הוּ֙ אֲנַ֔חְנוּ וַנֵּ֛רֶד לִשְׁל֥וֹם בְּנֵֽי־הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ וּבְנֵ֥י הַגְּבִירָֽה׃

‎14 ‏וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ תִּפְשׂ֣וּם חַיִּ֔ים וַֽיִּתְפְּשׂ֖וּם חַיִּ֑ים וַֽיִּשְׁחָט֞וּם אֶל־בּ֣וֹר בֵּֽית־עֵ֗קֶד אַרְבָּעִ֤ים וּשְׁנַ֙יִם֙ אִ֔ישׁ וְלֹֽא־הִשְׁאִ֥יר אִ֖ישׁ מֵהֶֽם׃ ס

‎15 ‏וַיֵּ֣לֶךְ מִשָּׁ֡ם וַיִּמְצָ֣א אֶת־יְהוֹנָדָב֩ בֶּן־רֵכָ֨ב לִקְרָאת֜וֹ וַֽיְבָרְכֵ֗הוּ וַיֹּ֨אמֶר אֵלָ֜יו הֲיֵ֧שׁ אֶת־לְבָבְךָ֣ יָשָׁ֗ר כַּאֲשֶׁ֤ר לְבָבִי֙ עִם־לְבָבֶ֔ךָ וַיֹּ֨אמֶר יְהוֹנָדָ֥ב יֵ֛שׁ וָיֵ֖שׁ תְּנָ֣ה אֶת־יָדֶ֑ךָ וַיִּתֵּ֣ן יָד֔וֹ וַיַּעֲלֵ֥הוּ אֵלָ֖יו אֶל־הַמֶּרְכָּבָֽה׃

‎16 ‏וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ לְכָ֣ה אִתִּ֔י וּרְאֵ֖ה בְּקִנְאָתִ֣י לַיהוָ֑ה וַיַּרְכִּ֥בוּ אֹת֖וֹ בְּרִכְבּֽוֹ׃

‎17 ‏וַיָּבֹא֙ שֹֽׁמְר֔וֹן וַ֠יַּךְ אֶת־כָּל־הַנִּשְׁאָרִ֧ים לְאַחְאָ֛ב בְּשֹׁמְר֖וֹן עַד־הִשְׁמִיד֑וֹ כִּדְבַ֣ר יְהוָ֔ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר דִּבֶּ֖ר אֶל־אֵלִיָּֽהוּ׃ פ

‎18 ‏וַיִּקְבֹּ֤ץ יֵהוּא֙ אֶת־כָּל־הָעָ֔ם וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֲלֵהֶ֔ם אַחְאָ֕ב עָבַ֥ד אֶת־הַבַּ֖עַל מְעָ֑ט יֵה֖וּא יַעַבְדֶ֥נּוּ הַרְבֵּֽה׃

‎19 ‏וְעַתָּ֣ה כָל־נְבִיאֵ֣י הַבַּ֡עַל כָּל־עֹבְדָ֣יו וְכָל־כֹּהֲנָיו֩ קִרְא֨וּ אֵלַ֜י אִ֣ישׁ אַל־יִפָּקֵ֗ד כִּי֩ זֶ֨בַח גָּד֥וֹל לִי֙ לַבַּ֔עַל כֹּ֥ל אֲשֶׁר־יִפָּקֵ֖ד לֹ֣א יִֽחְיֶ֑ה וְיֵהוּא֙ עָשָׂ֣ה בְעָקְבָּ֔ה לְמַ֥עַן הַאֲבִ֖יד אֶת־עֹבְדֵ֥י הַבָּֽעַל׃

‎20 ‏וַיֹּ֣אמֶר יֵה֗וּא קַדְּשׁ֧וּ עֲצָרָ֛ה לַבַּ֖עַל וַיִּקְרָֽאוּ׃

‎21 ‏וַיִּשְׁלַ֤ח יֵהוּא֙ בְּכָל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל וַיָּבֹ֙אוּ֙ כָּל־עֹבְדֵ֣י הַבַּ֔עַל וְלֹֽא־נִשְׁאַ֥ר אִ֖ישׁ אֲשֶׁ֣ר לֹֽא־בָ֑א וַיָּבֹ֙אוּ֙ בֵּ֣ית הַבַּ֔עַל וַיִּמָּלֵ֥א בֵית־הַבַּ֖עַל פֶּ֥ה לָפֶֽה׃

‎22 ‏וַיֹּ֗אמֶר לַֽאֲשֶׁר֙ עַל־הַמֶּלְתָּחָ֔ה הוֹצֵ֣א לְב֔וּשׁ לְכֹ֖ל עֹבְדֵ֣י הַבָּ֑עַל וַיֹּצֵ֥א לָהֶ֖ם הַמַּלְבּֽוּשׁ׃

‎23 ‏וַיָּבֹ֥א יֵה֛וּא וִיהוֹנָדָ֥ב בֶּן־רֵכָ֖ב בֵּ֣ית הַבָּ֑עַל וַיֹּ֜אמֶר לְעֹבְדֵ֣י הַבַּ֗עַל חַפְּשׂ֤וּ וּרְאוּ֙ פֶּן־יֶשׁ־פֹּ֤ה עִמָּכֶם֙ מֵעַבְדֵ֣י יְהוָ֔ה כִּ֛י אִם־עֹבְדֵ֥י הַבַּ֖עַל לְבַדָּֽם׃

‎24 ‏וַיָּבֹ֕אוּ לַעֲשׂ֖וֹת זְבָחִ֣ים וְעֹל֑וֹת וְיֵה֞וּא שָׂם־ל֤וֹ בַחוּץ֙ שְׁמֹנִ֣ים אִ֔ישׁ וַיֹּ֗אמֶר הָאִ֤ישׁ אֲשֶׁר־יִמָּלֵט֙ מִן־הָאֲנָשִׁ֗ים אֲשֶׁ֤ר אֲנִי֙ מֵבִ֣יא עַל־יְדֵיכֶ֔ם נַפְשׁ֖וֹ תַּ֥חַת נַפְשֽׁוֹ׃

‎25 ‏וַיְהִ֞י כְּכַלֹּת֣וֹ׀ לַעֲשׂ֣וֹת הָעֹלָ֗ה וַיֹּ֣אמֶר יֵ֠הוּא לָרָצִ֨ים וְלַשָּׁלִשִׁ֜ים בֹּ֤אוּ הַכּוּם֙ אִ֣ישׁ אַל־יֵצֵ֔א וַיַּכּ֖וּם לְפִי־חָ֑רֶב וַיַּשְׁלִ֗כוּ הָֽרָצִים֙ וְהַשָּׁ֣לִשִׁ֔ים וַיֵּלְכ֖וּ עַד־עִ֥יר בֵּית־הַבָּֽעַל׃

‎26 ‏וַיֹּצִ֛אוּ אֶת־מַצְּב֥וֹת בֵּית־הַבַּ֖עַל וַֽיִּשְׂרְפֽוּהָ׃

‎27 ‏וַֽיִּתְּצ֔וּ אֵ֖ת מַצְּבַ֣ת הַבָּ֑עַל וַֽיִּתְּצוּ֙ אֶת־בֵּ֣ית הַבַּ֔עַל וַיְשִׂמֻ֥הוּ למחראות לְמֽוֹצָא֖וֹת עַד־הַיּֽוֹם׃

‎28 ‏וַיַּשְׁמֵ֥ד יֵה֛וּא אֶת־הַבַּ֖עַל מִיִּשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

‎29 ‏רַ֠ק חֲטָאֵ֞י יָרָבְעָ֤ם בֶּן־נְבָט֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר הֶחֱטִ֣יא אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל לֹֽא־סָ֥ר יֵה֖וּא מֵאַֽחֲרֵיהֶ֑ם עֶגְלֵי֙ הַזָּהָ֔ב אֲשֶׁ֥ר בֵּֽית־אֵ֖ל וַאֲשֶׁ֥ר בְּדָֽן׃ ס

‎30 ‏וַיֹּ֨אמֶר יְהוָ֜ה אֶל־יֵה֗וּא יַ֤עַן אֲשֶׁר־הֱטִיבֹ֙תָ֙ לַעֲשׂ֤וֹת הַיָּשָׁר֙ בְּעֵינַ֔י כְּכֹל֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר בִּלְבָבִ֔י עָשִׂ֖יתָ לְבֵ֣ית אַחְאָ֑ב בְּנֵ֣י רְבִעִ֔ים יֵשְׁב֥וּ לְךָ֖ עַל־כִּסֵּ֥א יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

‎31 ‏וְיֵה֗וּא לֹ֥א שָׁמַ֛ר לָלֶ֛כֶת בְּתֽוֹרַת־יְהוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֵֽי־יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל בְּכָל־לְבָב֑וֹ לֹ֣א סָ֗ר מֵעַל֙ חַטֹּ֣אות יָֽרָבְעָ֔ם אֲשֶׁ֥ר הֶחֱטִ֖יא אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

‎32 ‏בַּיָּמִ֣ים הָהֵ֔ם הֵחֵ֣ל יְהוָ֔ה לְקַצּ֖וֹת בְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וַיַּכֵּ֥ם חֲזָאֵ֖ל בְּכָל־גְּב֥וּל יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

‎33 ‏מִן־הַיַּרְדֵּן֙ מִזְרַ֣ח הַשֶּׁ֔מֶשׁ אֵ֚ת כָּל־אֶ֣רֶץ הַגִּלְעָ֔ד הַגָּדִ֥י וְהָרֻאובֵנִ֖י וְהַֽמְנַשִּׁ֑י מֵעֲרֹעֵר֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר עַל־נַ֣חַל אַרְנֹ֔ן וְהַגִּלְעָ֖ד וְהַבָּשָֽׁן׃

‎34 ‏וְיֶ֨תֶר דִּבְרֵ֥י יֵה֛וּא וְכָל־אֲשֶׁ֥ר עָשָׂ֖ה וְכָל־גְּבוּרָת֑וֹ הֲלֽוֹא־הֵ֣ם כְּתוּבִ֗ים עַל־סֵ֛פֶר דִּבְרֵ֥י הַיָּמִ֖ים לְמַלְכֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

‎35 ‏וַיִּשְׁכַּ֤ב יֵהוּא֙ עִם־אֲבֹתָ֔יו וַיִּקְבְּר֥וּ אֹת֖וֹ בְּשֹׁמְר֑וֹן וַיִּמְלֹ֛ךְ יְהוֹאָחָ֥ז בְּנ֖וֹ תַּחְתָּֽיו׃

‎36 ‏וְהַיָּמִ֗ים אֲשֶׁ֨ר מָלַ֤ךְ יֵהוּא֙ עַל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל עֶשְׂרִ֥ים וּשְׁמֹנֶֽה־שָׁנָ֖ה בְּשֹׁמְרֽוֹן׃ פ

1 Erant autem Achab septuaginta filii in Samaria: scripsit ergo Jehu litteras, et misit in Samariam, ad optimates civitatis, et ad majores natu, et ad nutritios Achab, dicens:

2 Statim ut acceperitis litteras has, qui habetis filios domini vestri, et currus, et equos, et civitates firmas, et arma,

3 eligite meliorem, et eum qui vobis placuerit de filiis domini vestri, et eum ponite super solium patris sui, et pugnate pro domo domini vestri.

4 Timuerunt illi vehementer, et dixerunt: Ecce duo reges non potuerunt stare coram eo, et quomodo nos valebimus resistere?

5 Miserunt ergo præpositi domus, et præfecti civitatis, et majores natu, et nutritii, ad Jehu, dicentes: Servi tui sumus: quæcumque jusseris faciemus, nec constituemus nobis regem: quæcumque tibi placent, fac.

6 Rescripsit autem eis litteras secundo, dicens: Si mei estis, et obeditis mihi, tollite capita filiorum domini vestri, et venite ad me hac eadem hora cras in Jezrahel. Porro filii regis, septuaginta viri, apud optimates civitates nutriebantur.

7 Cumque venissent litteras ad eos, tulerunt filios regis, et occiderunt septuaginta viros, et posuerunt capita eorum in cophinis, et miserunt ad eum in Jezrahel.

8 Venit autem nuntius, et indicavit ei, dicens: Attulerunt capita filiorum regis. Qui respondit: Ponite ea ad duos acervos juxta introitum portæ usque mane.

9 Cumque diluxisset, egressus est, et stans dixit ad omnem populum: Justi estis: si ego conjuravi contra dominum meum et interfeci eum, quis percussit omnes hos?

10 videte ergo nunc quoniam non cecidit de sermonibus Domini in terram, quos locutus est Dominus super domum Achab: et Dominus fecit quod locutus est in manu servi sui Eliæ.

11 Percussit igitur Jehu omnes qui reliqui erant de domo Achab in Jezrahel, et universos optimates ejus, et notos, et sacerdotes, donec non remanerent ex eo reliquiæ.

12 Et surrexit, et venit in Samariam: cumque venisset ad Cameram pastorum in via,

13 invenit fratres Ochoziæ regis Juda: dixitque ad eos: Quinam estis vos? Qui responderunt: Fratres Ochoziæ sumus, et descendimus ad salutandos filios regis, et filios reginæ.

14 Qui ait: Comprehendite eos vivos. Quos cum comprehendissent vivos, jugulaverunt eos in cisterna juxta Cameram, quadraginta duos viros: et non reliquit ex eis quemquam.

15 Cumque abiisset inde, invenit Jonadab filium Rechab in occursum sibi, et benedixit ei. Et ait ad eum: Numquid est cor tuum rectum, sicut cor meum cum corde tuo? Et ait Jonadab: Est. Si est, inquit, da manum tuam. Qui dedit ei manum suam. At ille levavit eum ad se in currum:

16 dixitque ad eum: Veni mecum, et vide zelum meum pro Domino. Et impositum in curru suo

17 duxit in Samariam. Et percussit omnes qui reliqui fuerant de Achab in Samaria usque ad unum, juxta verbum Domini quod locutus est per Eliam.

18 Congregavit ergo Jehu omnem populum, et dixit ad eos: Achab coluit Baal parum, ego autem colam eum amplius.

19 Nunc igitur omnes prophetas Baal, et universos servos ejus, et cunctos sacerdotes ipsius vocate ad me: nullus sit qui non veniat: sacrificium enim grande est mihi Baal: quicumque defuerit, non vivet. Porro Jehu faciebat hoc insidiose, ut disperderet cultores Baal.

20 Et dixit: Sanctificate diem solemnem Baal. Vocavitque,

21 et misit in universos terminos Israël, et venerunt cuncti servi Baal: non fuit residuus ne unus quidem qui non veniret. Et ingressi sunt templum Baal: et repleta est domus Baal, a summo usque ad summum.

22 Dixitque his qui erant super vestes: Proferte vestimenta universis servis Baal. Et protulerunt eis vestes.

23 Ingressusque Jehu, et Jonadab filius Rechab, templum Baal, ait cultoribus Baal: Perquirite, et videte, ne quis forte vobiscum sit de servis Domini, sed ut sint servi Baal soli.

24 Ingressi sunt igitur ut facerent victimas et holocausta: Jehu autem præparaverat sibi foris octoginta viros, et dixerat eis: Quicumque fugerit de hominibus his, quos ego adduxero in manus vestras, anima ejus erit pro anima illius.

25 Factum est autem, cum completum esset holocaustum, præcepit Jehu militibus et ducibus suis: Ingredimini, et percutite eos: nullus evadat. Percusseruntque eos in ore gladii, et projecerunt milites et duces: et ierunt in civitatem templi Baal,

26 et protulerunt statuam de fano Baal, et combusserunt,

27 et comminuerunt eam. Destruxerunt quoque ædem Baal, et fecerunt pro ea latrinas usque in diem hanc.

28 Delevit itaque Jehu Baal de Israël:

29 verumtamen a peccatis Jeroboam filii Nabat, qui peccare fecit Israël, non recessit, nec dereliquit vitulos aureos qui erant in Bethel et in Dan.

30 Dixit autem Dominus ad Jehu: Quia studiose egisti quod rectum erat, et placebat in oculis meis, et omnia quæ erant in corde meo fecisti contra domum Achab: filii tui usque ad quartam generationem sedebunt super thronum Israël.

31 Porro Jehu non custodivit ut ambularet in lege Domini Dei Israël in toto corde suo: non enim recessit a peccatis Jeroboam, qui peccare fecerat Israël.

32 In diebus illis cœpit Dominus tædere super Israël: percussitque eos Hazaël in universis finibus Israël,

33 a Jordane contra orientalem plagam, omnem terram Galaad, et Gad, et Ruben, et Manasse, ab Aroër, quæ est super torrentem Arnon, et Galaad, et Basan.

34 Reliqua autem verborum Jehu, et universa quæ fecit, et fortitudo ejus, nonne hæc scripta sunt in libro verborum dierum regum Israël?

35 Et dormivit Jehu cum patribus suis, sepelieruntque eum in Samaria: et regnavit Joachaz filius ejus pro eo.

36 Dies autem quos regnavit Jehu super Israël, viginti et octo anni sunt in Samaria.
