1  In the twelfth^{8147 6240} year⁸¹⁴¹ of Ahaz²⁷¹ king⁴⁴²⁸ of Judah³⁰⁶³ began Hoshea¹⁹⁵⁴ the son¹¹²¹ of Elah⁴²⁵ to reign⁴⁴²⁷ in Samaria⁸¹¹¹ over⁵⁹²¹ Israel³⁴⁷⁸ nine⁸⁶⁷² years.⁸¹⁴¹

2  And he did⁶²¹³ that which was evil⁷⁴⁵¹ in the sight⁵⁸⁶⁹ of the LORD,³⁰⁶⁸ but⁷⁵³⁵ not³⁸⁰⁸ as the kings⁴⁴²⁸ of Israel³⁴⁷⁸ that⁸³⁴ were¹⁹⁶¹ before⁶⁴⁴⁰ him.

3  Against⁵⁹²¹ him came up⁵⁹²⁷ Shalmaneser⁸⁰²² king⁴⁴²⁸ of Assyria;⁸⁰⁴ and Hoshea¹⁹⁵⁴ became¹⁹⁶¹ his servant,⁵⁶⁵⁰ and gave⁷⁷²⁵ him presents.⁴⁵⁰³

4  And the king⁴⁴²⁸ of Assyria⁸⁰⁴ found⁴⁶⁷² conspiracy⁷¹⁹⁵ in Hoshea:¹⁹⁵⁴ for he had sent⁷⁹⁷¹ messengers⁴³⁹⁷ to⁴¹³ So⁵⁴⁷¹ king⁴⁴²⁸ of Egypt,⁴⁷¹⁴ and brought⁵⁹²⁷ no³⁸⁰⁸ present⁴⁵⁰³ to the king⁴⁴²⁸ of Assyria,⁸⁰⁴ as he had done year⁸¹⁴¹ by year:⁸¹⁴¹ therefore the king⁴⁴²⁸ of Assyria⁸⁰⁴ shut him up,⁶¹¹³ and bound⁶³¹ him in prison.^{1004 3608}

5  Then the king⁴⁴²⁸ of Assyria⁸⁰⁴ came up⁵⁹²⁷ throughout all³⁶⁰⁵ the land,⁷⁷⁶ and went up⁵⁹²⁷ to Samaria,⁸¹¹¹ and besieged^{6696 5921} it three⁷⁹⁶⁹ years.⁸¹⁴¹

6  In the ninth⁸⁶⁷¹ year⁸¹⁴¹ of Hoshea¹⁹⁵⁴ the king⁴⁴²⁸ of Assyria⁸⁰⁴ took^{3920 853} Samaria,⁸¹¹¹ and carried Israel away^{1540 853 3478} into Assyria,⁸⁰⁴ and placed³⁴²⁷ them in Halah²⁴⁷⁷ and in Habor²²⁴⁹ by the river⁵¹⁰⁴ of Gozan,¹⁴⁷⁰ and in the cities⁵⁸⁹² of the Medes.⁴⁰⁷⁴

7  For so it was,¹⁹⁶¹ that³⁵⁸⁸ the children¹¹²¹ of Israel³⁴⁷⁸ had sinned²³⁹⁸ against the LORD³⁰⁶⁸ their God,⁴³⁰ which had brought them up^{5927 853} out of the land^{4480 776} of Egypt,⁴⁷¹⁴ from under^{4480 8478} the hand³⁰²⁷ of Pharaoh⁶⁵⁴⁷ king⁴⁴²⁸ of Egypt,⁴⁷¹⁴ and had feared³³⁷² other³¹² gods,⁴³⁰

8  And walked¹⁹⁸⁰ in the statutes²⁷⁰⁸ of the heathen,¹⁴⁷¹ whom⁸³⁴ the LORD³⁰⁶⁸ cast out³⁴²³ from before^{4480 6440} the children¹¹²¹ of Israel,³⁴⁷⁸ and of the kings⁴⁴²⁸ of Israel,³⁴⁷⁸ which⁸³⁴ they had made.⁶²¹³

9  And the children¹¹²¹ of Israel³⁴⁷⁸ did secretly²⁶⁴⁴ those things¹⁶⁹⁷ that⁸³⁴ were not³⁸⁰⁸ right³⁶⁵¹ against⁵⁹²¹ the LORD³⁰⁶⁸ their God,⁴³⁰ and they built¹¹²⁹ them high places¹¹¹⁶ in all³⁶⁰⁵ their cities,⁵⁸⁹² from the tower^{4480 4026} of the watchmen⁵³⁴¹ to⁵⁷⁰⁴ the fenced⁴⁰¹³ city.⁵⁸⁹²

10  And they set them up⁵³²⁴ images⁴⁶⁷⁶ and groves⁸⁴² in⁵⁹²¹ every³⁶⁰⁵ high¹³⁶⁴ hill,¹³⁸⁹ and under⁸⁴⁷⁸ every³⁶⁰⁵ green⁷⁴⁸⁸ tree:⁶⁰⁸⁶

11  And there⁸⁰³³ they burnt incense⁶⁹⁹⁹ in all³⁶⁰⁵ the high places,¹¹¹⁶ as did the heathen¹⁴⁷¹ whom⁸³⁴ the LORD³⁰⁶⁸ carried away¹⁵⁴⁰ before^{4480 6440} them; and wrought⁶²¹³ wicked⁷⁴⁵¹ things¹⁶⁹⁷ to provoke^{3707 853} the LORD³⁰⁶⁸ to anger:

12  For they served⁵⁶⁴⁷ idols,¹⁵⁴⁴ whereof⁸³⁴ the LORD³⁰⁶⁸ had said⁵⁵⁹ unto them, Ye shall not³⁸⁰⁸ do^{6213 853} this²⁰⁸⁸ thing.¹⁶⁹⁷

13  Yet the LORD³⁰⁶⁸ testified⁵⁷⁴⁹ against Israel,³⁴⁷⁸ and against Judah,³⁰⁶³ by³⁰²⁷ all³⁶⁰⁵ the prophets,⁵⁰³⁰ and by all³⁶⁰⁵ the seers,²³⁷⁴ saying,⁵⁵⁹ Turn⁷⁷²⁵ ye from your evil ways,^{4480 1870 7451} and keep⁸¹⁰⁴ my commandments⁴⁶⁸⁷ and my statutes,²⁷⁰⁸ according to all³⁶⁰⁵ the law⁸⁴⁵¹ which⁸³⁴ I commanded^{6680 853} your fathers,¹ and which⁸³⁴ I sent⁷⁹⁷¹ to⁴¹³ you by³⁰²⁷ my servants⁵⁶⁵⁰ the prophets.⁵⁰³⁰

14  Notwithstanding they would not³⁸⁰⁸ hear,⁸⁰⁸⁵ but hardened^{7185 853} their necks,⁶²⁰³ like to the neck⁶²⁰³ of their fathers,¹ that⁸³⁴ did not³⁸⁰⁸ believe⁵³⁹ in the LORD³⁰⁶⁸ their God.⁴³⁰

15  And they rejected^{3988 853} his statutes,²⁷⁰⁶ and his covenant¹²⁸⁵ that⁸³⁴ he made³⁷⁷² with⁸⁵⁴ their fathers,¹ and his testimonies⁵⁷¹⁵ which⁸³⁴ he testified⁵⁷⁴⁹ against them; and they followed^{1980 310} vanity,¹⁸⁹² and became vain,¹⁸⁹¹ and went after³¹⁰ the heathen¹⁴⁷¹ that⁸³⁴ were round about⁵⁴³⁹ them, concerning whom⁸³⁴ the LORD³⁰⁶⁸ had charged⁶⁶⁸⁰ them, that they should not¹¹¹⁵ do⁶²¹³ like them.

16  And they left^{5800 853} all³⁶⁰⁵ the commandments⁴⁶⁸⁷ of the LORD³⁰⁶⁸ their God,⁴³⁰ and made⁶²¹³ them molten images,⁴⁵⁴¹ even two⁸¹⁴⁷ calves,⁵⁶⁹⁵ and made⁶²¹³ a grove,⁸⁴² and worshiped⁷⁸¹² all³⁶⁰⁵ the host⁶⁶³⁵ of heaven,⁸⁰⁶⁴ and served^{5647 853} Baal.¹¹⁶⁸

17  And they caused ⁸⁵³ their sons¹¹²¹ and their daughters¹³²³ to pass through⁵⁶⁷⁴ the fire,⁷⁸⁴ and used⁷⁰⁸⁰ divination⁷⁰⁸¹ and enchantments,⁵¹⁷² and sold themselves⁴³⁷⁶ to do⁶²¹³ evil⁷⁴⁵¹ in the sight⁵⁸⁶⁹ of the LORD,³⁰⁶⁸ to provoke him to anger.³⁷⁰⁷

18  Therefore the LORD³⁰⁶⁸ was very angry^{599 3966} with Israel,³⁴⁷⁸ and removed⁵⁴⁹³ them out of^{4480 5921} his sight:⁶⁴⁴⁰ there was none³⁸⁰⁸ left⁷⁶⁰⁴ but⁷⁵³⁵ the tribe⁷⁶²⁶ of Judah³⁰⁶³ only.⁹⁰⁵

19  Also¹⁵⁷¹ Judah³⁰⁶³ kept⁸¹⁰⁴ not^{3808 853} the commandments⁴⁶⁸⁷ of the LORD³⁰⁶⁸ their God,⁴³⁰ but walked¹⁹⁸⁰ in the statutes²⁷⁰⁸ of Israel³⁴⁷⁸ which⁸³⁴ they made.⁶²¹³

20  And the LORD³⁰⁶⁸ rejected³⁹⁸⁸ all³⁶⁰⁵ the seed²²³³ of Israel,³⁴⁷⁸ and afflicted⁶⁰³¹ them, and delivered⁵⁴¹⁴ them into the hand³⁰²⁷ of spoilers,⁸¹⁵⁴ until^{5704 834} he had cast them out⁷⁹⁹³ of his sight.^{4480 6440}

21  For³⁵⁸⁸ he rent⁷¹⁶⁷ Israel³⁴⁷⁸ from^{4480 5921} the house¹⁰⁰⁴ of David;¹⁷³² and they made ⁸⁵³ Jeroboam³³⁷⁹ the son¹¹²¹ of Nebat⁵⁰²⁸ king:⁴⁴²⁷ and Jeroboam³³⁷⁹ drove^{5080 853} Israel³⁴⁷⁸ from following^{4480 310} the LORD,³⁰⁶⁸ and made them sin²³⁹⁸ a great¹⁴¹⁹ sin.²⁴⁰¹

22  For the children¹¹²¹ of Israel³⁴⁷⁸ walked¹⁹⁸⁰ in all³⁶⁰⁵ the sins²⁴⁰³ of Jeroboam³³⁷⁹ which⁸³⁴ he did;⁶²¹³ they departed⁵⁴⁹³ not³⁸⁰⁸ from⁴⁴⁸⁰ them;

23  Until^{5704 834} the LORD³⁰⁶⁸ removed^{5493 853} Israel³⁴⁷⁸ out of^{4480 5921} his sight,⁶⁴⁴⁰ as⁸³⁴ he had said¹⁶⁹⁶ by³⁰²⁷ all³⁶⁰⁵ his servants⁵⁶⁵⁰ the prophets.⁵⁰³⁰ So was Israel³⁴⁷⁸ carried away¹⁵⁴⁰ out of^{4480 5921} their own land¹²⁷ to Assyria⁸⁰⁴ unto⁵⁷⁰⁴ this²⁰⁸⁸ day.³¹¹⁷

24  And the king⁴⁴²⁸ of Assyria⁸⁰⁴ brought⁹³⁵ men from Babylon,^{4480 894} and from Cuthah,^{4480 3575} and from Ava,^{4480 5755} and from Hamath,^{4480 2574} and from Sepharvaim,⁵⁶¹⁷ and placed³⁴²⁷ them in the cities⁵⁸⁹² of Samaria⁸¹¹¹ instead⁸⁴⁷⁸ of the children¹¹²¹ of Israel:³⁴⁷⁸ and they possessed^{3423 853} Samaria,⁸¹¹¹ and dwelt³⁴²⁷ in the cities⁵⁸⁹² thereof.

25  And so it was¹⁹⁶¹ at the beginning⁸⁴⁶² of their dwelling³⁴²⁷ there,⁸⁰³³ that they feared³³⁷² not^{3808 853} the LORD:³⁰⁶⁸ therefore the LORD³⁰⁶⁸ sent^{7971 853} lions⁷³⁸ among them, which slew²⁰²⁶ some of them.

26  Wherefore they spoke⁵⁵⁹ to the king⁴⁴²⁸ of Assyria,⁸⁰⁴ saying,⁵⁵⁹ The nations¹⁴⁷¹ which⁸³⁴ thou hast removed,¹⁵⁴⁰ and placed³⁴²⁷ in the cities⁵⁸⁹² of Samaria,⁸¹¹¹ know³⁰⁴⁵ not^{3808 853} the manner⁴⁹⁴¹ of the God⁴³⁰ of the land:⁷⁷⁶ therefore he hath sent^{7971 853} lions⁷³⁸ among them, and, behold,²⁰⁰⁹ they slay⁴¹⁹¹ them, because⁸³⁴ they know³⁰⁴⁵ not^{369 853} the manner⁴⁹⁴¹ of the God⁴³⁰ of the land.⁷⁷⁶

27  Then the king⁴⁴²⁸ of Assyria⁸⁰⁴ commanded,⁶⁶⁸⁰ saying,⁵⁵⁹ Carry¹⁹⁸⁰ thither⁸⁰³³ one²⁵⁹ of the priests^{4480 3548} whom⁸³⁴ ye brought¹⁵⁴⁰ from thence;^{4480 8033} and let them go¹⁹⁸⁰ and dwell³⁴²⁷ there,⁸⁰³³ and let him teach³³⁸⁴ them ⁸⁵³ the manner⁴⁹⁴¹ of the God⁴³⁰ of the land.⁷⁷⁶

28  Then one²⁵⁹ of the priests^{4480 3548} whom⁸³⁴ they had carried away¹⁵⁴⁰ from Samaria^{4480 8111} came⁹³⁵ and dwelt³⁴²⁷ in Bethel,¹⁰⁰⁸ and taught³³⁸⁴ them how³⁴⁹ they should fear^{3372 853} the LORD.³⁰⁶⁸

29  Howbeit every nation^{1471 1471} made⁶²¹³ gods⁴³⁰ of their own, and put⁵¹¹⁷ them in the houses¹⁰⁰⁴ of the high places¹¹¹⁶ which⁸³⁴ the Samaritans⁸¹¹⁸ had made,⁶²¹³ every nation^{1471 1471} in their cities⁵⁸⁹² wherein^{834 8033} they¹⁹⁹² dwelt.³⁴²⁷

30  And the men³⁷⁶ of Babylon⁸⁹⁴ made^{6213 853} Succothbenoth,⁵⁵²⁴ and the men³⁷⁶ of Cuth³⁵⁷⁵ made^{6213 853} Nergal,⁵³⁷⁰ and the men³⁷⁶ of Hamath²⁵⁷⁴ made^{6213 853} Ashima,⁸⁰⁷

31  And the Avites⁵⁷⁶¹ made⁶²¹³ Nibhaz⁵⁰²⁶ and Tartak,⁸⁶⁶² and the Sepharvites⁵⁶¹⁷ burnt^{8313 853} their children¹¹²¹ in fire⁷⁸⁴ to Adrammelech¹⁵² and Anammelech,⁶⁰⁴⁸ the gods⁴³⁰ of Sepharvaim.⁵⁶¹⁷

32  So they feared^{1961 3372 853} the LORD,³⁰⁶⁸ and made⁶²¹³ unto themselves of the lowest^{4480 7098} of them priests³⁵⁴⁸ of the high places,¹¹¹⁶ which sacrificed⁶²¹³ for them in the houses¹⁰⁰⁴ of the high places.¹¹¹⁶

33  They feared^{1961 3372 853} the LORD,³⁰⁶⁸ and served^{1961 5647} their own gods,⁴³⁰ after the manner⁴⁹⁴¹ of the nations¹⁴⁷¹ whom^{834 853} they carried away¹⁵⁴⁰ from thence.^{4480 8033}

34  Unto⁵⁷⁰⁴ this²⁰⁸⁸ day³¹¹⁷ they¹⁹⁹² do⁶²¹³ after the former⁷²²³ manners:⁴⁹⁴¹ they fear³³⁷² not^{369 853} the LORD,³⁰⁶⁸ neither³⁶⁹ do⁶²¹³ they after their statutes,²⁷⁰⁸ or after their ordinances,⁴⁹⁴¹ or after the law⁸⁴⁵¹ and commandment⁴⁶⁸⁷ which⁸³⁴ the LORD³⁰⁶⁸ commanded^{6680 853} the children¹¹²¹ of Jacob,³²⁹⁰ whom⁸³⁴ he named^{7760 8034} Israel;³⁴⁷⁸

35  With⁸⁵⁴ whom the LORD³⁰⁶⁸ had made³⁷⁷² a covenant,¹²⁸⁵ and charged⁶⁶⁸⁰ them, saying,⁵⁵⁹ Ye shall not³⁸⁰⁸ fear³³⁷² other³¹² gods,⁴³⁰ nor³⁸⁰⁸ bow yourselves⁷⁸¹² to them, nor³⁸⁰⁸ serve⁵⁶⁴⁷ them, nor³⁸⁰⁸ sacrifice²⁰⁷⁶ to them:

36  But^{3588 518 853} the LORD,³⁰⁶⁸ who⁸³⁴ brought you up^{5927 853} out of the land^{4480 776} of Egypt⁴⁷¹⁴ with great¹⁴¹⁹ power³⁵⁸¹ and a stretched out⁵¹⁸⁶ arm,²²²⁰ him shall ye fear,³³⁷² and him shall ye worship,⁷⁸¹² and to him shall ye do sacrifice.²⁰⁷⁶

37  And the statutes,²⁷⁰⁶ and the ordinances,⁴⁹⁴¹ and the law,⁸⁴⁵¹ and the commandment,⁴⁶⁸⁷ which⁸³⁴ he wrote³⁷⁸⁹ for you, ye shall observe⁸¹⁰⁴ to do⁶²¹³ forevermore;^{3605 3117} and ye shall not³⁸⁰⁸ fear³³⁷² other³¹² gods.⁴³⁰

38  And the covenant¹²⁸⁵ that⁸³⁴ I have made³⁷⁷² with⁸⁵⁴ you ye shall not³⁸⁰⁸ forget;⁷⁹¹¹ neither³⁸⁰⁸ shall ye fear³³⁷² other³¹² gods.⁴³⁰

39  But^{3588 518 853} the LORD³⁰⁶⁸ your God⁴³⁰ ye shall fear;³³⁷² and he¹⁹³¹ shall deliver⁵³³⁷ you out of the hand^{4480 3027} of all³⁶⁰⁵ your enemies.³⁴¹

40  Howbeit they did not³⁸⁰⁸ hearken,⁸⁰⁸⁵ but^{3588 518} they¹⁹⁹² did⁶²¹³ after their former⁷²²³ manner.⁴⁹⁴¹

41  So these⁴²⁸ nations¹⁴⁷¹ feared^{1961 3372 853} the LORD,³⁰⁶⁸ and served⁵⁶⁴⁷ their graven images,⁶⁴⁵⁶ both¹⁵⁷¹ their children,¹¹²¹ and their children's¹¹²¹ children:¹¹²¹ as⁸³⁴ did⁶²¹³ their fathers,¹ so do⁶²¹³ they¹⁹⁹² unto⁵⁷⁰⁴ this²⁰⁸⁸ day.³¹¹⁷

2 καὶ ἐποίησεν τὸ πονηρὸν ἐν ὀφθαλμοῖς κυρίου πλὴν οὐχ ὡς οἱ βασιλεῖς Ισραηλ οἳ ἦσαν ἔμπροσθεν αὐτοῦ

3 ἐπ᾽ αὐτὸν ἀνέβη Σαλαμανασαρ βασιλεὺς Ἀσσυρίων καὶ ἐγενήθη αὐτῷ Ωσηε δοῦλος καὶ ἐπέστρεψεν αὐτῷ μαναα

4 καὶ εὗρεν βασιλεὺς Ἀσσυρίων ἐν τῷ Ωσηε ἀδικίαν ὅτι ἀπέστειλεν ἀγγέλους πρὸς Σηγωρ βασιλέα Αἰγύπτου καὶ οὐκ ἤνεγκεν μαναα τῷ βασιλεῖ Ἀσσυρίων ἐν τῷ ἐνιαυτῷ ἐκείνῳ καὶ ἐπολιόρκησεν αὐτὸν ὁ βασιλεὺς Ἀσσυρίων καὶ ἔδησεν αὐτὸν ἐν οἴκῳ φυλακῆς

5 καὶ ἀνέβη ὁ βασιλεὺς Ἀσσυρίων ἐν πάσῃ τῇ γῇ καὶ ἀνέβη εἰς Σαμάρειαν καὶ ἐπολιόρκησεν ἐπ᾽ αὐτὴν τρία ἔτη

6 ἐν ἔτει ἐνάτῳ Ωσηε συνέλαβεν βασιλεὺς Ἀσσυρίων τὴν Σαμάρειαν καὶ ἀπῴκισεν τὸν Ισραηλ εἰς Ἀσσυρίους καὶ κατῴκισεν αὐτοὺς ἐν Αλαε καὶ ἐν Αβωρ ποταμοῖς Γωζαν καὶ Ορη Μήδων

7 καὶ ἐγένετο ὅτι ἥμαρτον οἱ υἱοὶ Ισραηλ τῷ κυρίῳ θεῷ αὐτῶν τῷ ἀναγαγόντι αὐτοὺς ἐκ γῆς Αἰγύπτου ὑποκάτωθεν χειρὸς Φαραω βασιλέως Αἰγύπτου καὶ ἐφοβήθησαν θεοὺς ἑτέρους

8 καὶ ἐπορεύθησαν τοῖς δικαιώμασιν τῶν ἐθνῶν ὧν ἐξῆρεν κύριος ἀπὸ προσώπου υἱῶν Ισραηλ καὶ οἱ βασιλεῖς Ισραηλ ὅσοι ἐποίησαν

9 καὶ ὅσοι ἠμφιέσαντο οἱ υἱοὶ Ισραηλ λόγους οὐχ οὕτως κατὰ κυρίου θεοῦ αὐτῶν καὶ ᾠκοδόμησαν ἑαυτοῖς ὑψηλὰ ἐν πάσαις ταῖς πόλεσιν αὐτῶν ἀπὸ πύργου φυλασσόντων ἕως πόλεως ὀχυρᾶς

10 καὶ ἐστήλωσαν ἑαυτοῖς στήλας καὶ ἄλση ἐπὶ παντὶ βουνῷ ὑψηλῷ καὶ ὑποκάτω παντὸς ξύλου ἀλσώδους

11 καὶ ἐθυμίασαν ἐκεῖ ἐν πᾶσιν ὑψηλοῖς καθὼς τὰ ἔθνη ἃ ἀπῴκισεν κύριος ἐκ προσώπου αὐτῶν καὶ ἐποίησαν κοινωνοὺς καὶ ἐχάραξαν τοῦ παροργίσαι τὸν κύριον

12 καὶ ἐλάτρευσαν τοῖς εἰδώλοις οἷς εἶπεν κύριος αὐτοῖς οὐ ποιήσετε τὸ ῥῆμα τοῦτο κυρίῳ

13 καὶ διεμαρτύρατο κύριος ἐν τῷ Ισραηλ καὶ ἐν τῷ Ιουδα ἐν χειρὶ πάντων τῶν προφητῶν αὐτοῦ παντὸς ὁρῶντος λέγων ἀποστράφητε ἀπὸ τῶν ὁδῶν ὑμῶν τῶν πονηρῶν καὶ φυλάξατε τὰς ἐντολάς μου καὶ τὰ δικαιώματά μου καὶ πάντα τὸν νόμον ὃν ἐνετειλάμην τοῖς πατράσιν ὑμῶν ὅσα ἀπέστειλα αὐτοῖς ἐν χειρὶ τῶν δούλων μου τῶν προφητῶν

14 καὶ οὐκ ἤκουσαν καὶ ἐσκλήρυναν τὸν νῶτον αὐτῶν ὑπὲρ τὸν νῶτον τῶν πατέρων αὐτῶν

15 καὶ τὰ μαρτύρια αὐτοῦ ὅσα διεμαρτύρατο αὐτοῖς οὐκ ἐφύλαξαν καὶ ἐπορεύθησαν ὀπίσω τῶν ματαίων καὶ ἐματαιώθησαν καὶ ὀπίσω τῶν ἐθνῶν τῶν περικύκλῳ αὐτῶν ὧν ἐνετείλατο αὐτοῖς τοῦ μὴ ποιῆσαι κατὰ ταῦτα

16 ἐγκατέλιπον τὰς ἐντολὰς κυρίου θεοῦ αὐτῶν καὶ ἐποίησαν ἑαυτοῖς χώνευμα δύο δαμάλεις καὶ ἐποίησαν ἄλση καὶ προσεκύνησαν πάσῃ τῇ δυνάμει τοῦ οὐρανοῦ καὶ ἐλάτρευσαν τῷ Βααλ

17 καὶ διῆγον τοὺς υἱοὺς αὐτῶν καὶ τὰς θυγατέρας αὐτῶν ἐν πυρὶ καὶ ἐμαντεύοντο μαντείας καὶ οἰωνίζοντο καὶ ἐπράθησαν τοῦ ποιῆσαι τὸ πονηρὸν ἐν ὀφθαλμοῖς κυρίου παροργίσαι αὐτόν

18 καὶ ἐθυμώθη κύριος σφόδρα ἐν τῷ Ισραηλ καὶ ἀπέστησεν αὐτοὺς ἀπὸ τοῦ προσώπου αὐτοῦ καὶ οὐχ ὑπελείφθη πλὴν φυλὴ Ιουδα μονωτάτη

19 καί γε Ιουδας οὐκ ἐφύλαξεν τὰς ἐντολὰς κυρίου τοῦ θεοῦ αὐτῶν καὶ ἐπορεύθησαν ἐν τοῖς δικαιώμασιν Ισραηλ οἷς ἐποίησαν

20 καὶ ἀπεώσαντο τὸν κύριον ἐν παντὶ σπέρματι Ισραηλ καὶ ἐσάλευσεν αὐτοὺς καὶ ἔδωκεν αὐτοὺς ἐν χειρὶ διαρπαζόντων αὐτούς ἕως οὗ ἀπέρριψεν αὐτοὺς ἀπὸ προσώπου αὐτοῦ

21 ὅτι πλὴν Ισραηλ ἐπάνωθεν οἴκου Δαυιδ καὶ ἐβασίλευσαν τὸν Ιεροβοαμ υἱὸν Ναβατ καὶ ἐξέωσεν Ιεροβοαμ τὸν Ισραηλ ἐξόπισθεν κυρίου καὶ ἐξήμαρτεν αὐτοὺς ἁμαρτίαν μεγάλην

22 καὶ ἐπορεύθησαν οἱ υἱοὶ Ισραηλ ἐν πάσῃ ἁμαρτίᾳ Ιεροβοαμ ᾗ ἐποίησεν οὐκ ἀπέστησαν ἀπ᾽ αὐτῆς

23 ἕως οὗ μετέστησεν κύριος τὸν Ισραηλ ἀπὸ προσώπου αὐτοῦ καθὼς ἐλάλησεν κύριος ἐν χειρὶ πάντων τῶν δούλων αὐτοῦ τῶν προφητῶν καὶ ἀπῳκίσθη Ισραηλ ἐπάνωθεν τῆς γῆς αὐτοῦ εἰς Ἀσσυρίους ἕως τῆς ἡμέρας ταύτης

24 καὶ ἤγαγεν βασιλεὺς Ἀσσυρίων ἐκ Βαβυλῶνος τὸν ἐκ Χουνθα καὶ ἀπὸ Αια καὶ ἀπὸ Αιμαθ καὶ Σεπφαρουαιν καὶ κατῳκίσθησαν ἐν πόλεσιν Σαμαρείας ἀντὶ τῶν υἱῶν Ισραηλ καὶ ἐκληρονόμησαν τὴν Σαμάρειαν καὶ κατῴκησαν ἐν ταῖς πόλεσιν αὐτῆς

25 καὶ ἐγένετο ἐν ἀρχῇ τῆς καθέδρας αὐτῶν οὐκ ἐφοβήθησαν τὸν κύριον καὶ ἀπέστειλεν κύριος ἐν αὐτοῖς τοὺς λέοντας καὶ ἦσαν ἀποκτέννοντες ἐν αὐτοῖς

26 καὶ εἶπον τῷ βασιλεῖ Ἀσσυρίων λέγοντες τὰ ἔθνη ἃ ἀπῴκισας καὶ ἀντεκάθισας ἐν πόλεσιν Σαμαρείας οὐκ ἔγνωσαν τὸ κρίμα τοῦ θεοῦ τῆς γῆς καὶ ἀπέστειλεν εἰς αὐτοὺς τοὺς λέοντας καὶ ἰδού εἰσιν θανατοῦντες αὐτούς καθότι οὐκ οἴδασιν τὸ κρίμα τοῦ θεοῦ τῆς γῆς

27 καὶ ἐνετείλατο ὁ βασιλεὺς Ἀσσυρίων λέγων ἀπάγετε ἐκεῖθεν καὶ πορευέσθωσαν καὶ κατοικείτωσαν ἐκεῖ καὶ φωτιοῦσιν αὐτοὺς τὸ κρίμα τοῦ θεοῦ τῆς γῆς

28 καὶ ἤγαγον ἕνα τῶν ἱερέων ὧν ἀπῴκισαν ἀπὸ Σαμαρείας καὶ ἐκάθισεν ἐν Βαιθηλ καὶ ἦν φωτίζων αὐτοὺς πῶς φοβηθῶσιν τὸν κύριον

29 καὶ ἦσαν ποιοῦντες ἔθνη ἔθνη θεοὺς αὐτῶν καὶ ἔθηκαν ἐν οἴκῳ τῶν ὑψηλῶν ὧν ἐποίησαν οἱ Σαμαρῖται ἔθνη ἐν ταῖς πόλεσιν αὐτῶν ἐν αἷς κατῴκουν ἐν αὐταῖς

30 καὶ οἱ ἄνδρες Βαβυλῶνος ἐποίησαν τὴν Σοκχωθβαινιθ καὶ οἱ ἄνδρες Χουθ ἐποίησαν τὴν Νηριγελ καὶ οἱ ἄνδρες Αιμαθ ἐποίησαν τὴν Ασιμαθ

31 καὶ οἱ Ευαῖοι ἐποίησαν τὴν Εβλαζερ καὶ τὴν Θαρθακ καὶ οἱ Σεπφαρουαιν κατέκαιον τοὺς υἱοὺς αὐτῶν ἐν πυρὶ τῷ Αδραμελεχ καὶ Ανημελεχ θεοῖς Σεπφαρουαιν

32 καὶ ἦσαν φοβούμενοι τὸν κύριον καὶ κατῴκισαν τὰ βδελύγματα αὐτῶν ἐν τοῖς οἴκοις τῶν ὑψηλῶν ἃ ἐποίησαν ἐν Σαμαρείᾳ ἔθνος ἔθνος ἐν πόλει ἐν ᾗ κατῴκουν ἐν αὐτῇ καὶ ἦσαν φοβούμενοι τὸν κύριον καὶ ἐποίησαν ἑαυτοῖς ἱερεῖς τῶν ὑψηλῶν καὶ ἐποίησαν ἑαυτοῖς ἐν οἴκῳ τῶν ὑψηλῶν

33 τὸν κύριον ἐφοβοῦντο καὶ τοῖς θεοῖς αὐτῶν ἐλάτρευον κατὰ τὸ κρίμα τῶν ἐθνῶν ὅθεν ἀπῴκισεν αὐτοὺς ἐκεῖθεν

34 ἕως τῆς ἡμέρας ταύτης αὐτοὶ ἐποίουν κατὰ τὸ κρίμα αὐτῶν αὐτοὶ φοβοῦνται καὶ αὐτοὶ ποιοῦσιν κατὰ τὰ δικαιώματα αὐτῶν καὶ κατὰ τὴν κρίσιν αὐτῶν καὶ κατὰ τὸν νόμον καὶ κατὰ τὴν ἐντολήν ἣν ἐνετείλατο κύριος τοῖς υἱοῖς Ιακωβ οὗ ἔθηκεν τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ Ισραηλ

35 καὶ διέθετο κύριος μετ᾽ αὐτῶν διαθήκην καὶ ἐνετείλατο αὐτοῖς λέγων οὐ φοβηθήσεσθε θεοὺς ἑτέρους καὶ οὐ προσκυνήσετε αὐτοῖς καὶ οὐ λατρεύσετε αὐτοῖς καὶ οὐ θυσιάσετε αὐτοῖς

36 ὅτι ἀλλ᾽ ἢ τῷ κυρίῳ ὃς ἀνήγαγεν ὑμᾶς ἐκ γῆς Αἰγύπτου ἐν ἰσχύι μεγάλῃ καὶ ἐν βραχίονι ὑψηλῷ αὐτὸν φοβηθήσεσθε καὶ αὐτῷ προσκυνήσετε καὶ αὐτῷ θύσετε

37 καὶ τὰ δικαιώματα καὶ τὰ κρίματα καὶ τὸν νόμον καὶ τὰς ἐντολάς ἃς ἔγραψεν ὑμῖν φυλάσσεσθε ποιεῖν πάσας τὰς ἡμέρας καὶ οὐ φοβηθήσεσθε θεοὺς ἑτέρους

38 καὶ τὴν διαθήκην ἣν διέθετο μεθ᾽ ὑμῶν οὐκ ἐπιλήσεσθε καὶ οὐ φοβηθήσεσθε θεοὺς ἑτέρους

39 ὅτι ἀλλ᾽ ἢ τὸν κύριον θεὸν ὑμῶν φοβηθήσεσθε καὶ αὐτὸς ἐξελεῖται ὑμᾶς ἐκ πάντων τῶν ἐχθρῶν ὑμῶν

40 καὶ οὐκ ἀκούσεσθε ἐπὶ τῷ κρίματι αὐτῶν ὃ αὐτοὶ ποιοῦσιν

41 καὶ ἦσαν τὰ ἔθνη ταῦτα φοβούμενοι τὸν κύριον καὶ τοῖς γλυπτοῖς αὐτῶν ἦσαν δουλεύοντες καί γε οἱ υἱοὶ καὶ οἱ υἱοὶ τῶν υἱῶν αὐτῶν καθὰ ἐποίησαν οἱ πατέρες αὐτῶν ποιοῦσιν ἕως τῆς ἡμέρας ταύτης

‎1 ‏בִּשְׁנַת֙ שְׁתֵּ֣ים עֶשְׂרֵ֔ה לְאָחָ֖ז מֶ֣לֶךְ יְהוּדָ֑ה מָ֠לַךְ הוֹשֵׁ֨עַ בֶּן־אֵלָ֧ה בְשֹׁמְר֛וֹן עַל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל תֵּ֥שַׁע שָׁנִֽים׃

‎2 ‏וַיַּ֥עַשׂ הָרַ֖ע בְּעֵינֵ֣י יְהוָ֑ה רַ֗ק לֹ֚א כְּמַלְכֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל אֲשֶׁ֥ר הָי֖וּ לְפָנָֽיו׃

‎3 ‏עָלָ֣יו עָלָ֔ה שַׁלְמַנְאֶ֖סֶר מֶ֣לֶךְ אַשּׁ֑וּר וַֽיְהִי־ל֤וֹ הוֹשֵׁ֙עַ֙ עֶ֔בֶד וַיָּ֥שֶׁב ל֖וֹ מִנְחָֽה׃

‎4 ‏וַיִּמְצָא֩ מֶֽלֶךְ־אַשּׁ֨וּר בְּהוֹשֵׁ֜עַ קֶ֗שֶׁר אֲשֶׁ֨ר שָׁלַ֤ח מַלְאָכִים֙ אֶל־ס֣וֹא מֶֽלֶךְ־מִצְרַ֔יִם וְלֹא־הֶעֱלָ֥ה מִנְחָ֛ה לְמֶ֥לֶךְ אַשּׁ֖וּר כְּשָׁנָ֣ה בְשָׁנָ֑ה וַֽיַּעַצְרֵ֙הוּ֙ מֶ֣לֶךְ אַשּׁ֔וּר וַיַּאַסְרֵ֖הוּ בֵּ֥ית כֶּֽלֶא׃

‎5 ‏וַיַּ֥עַל מֶֽלֶךְ־אַשּׁ֖וּר¹ בְּכָל־הָאָ֑רֶץ וַיַּ֙עַל֙ שֹׁמְר֔וֹן וַיָּ֥צַר עָלֶ֖יהָ שָׁלֹ֥שׁ שָׁנִֽים׃

‎6 ‏בִּשְׁנַ֨ת הַתְּשִׁיעִ֜ית³ לְהוֹשֵׁ֗עַ לָכַ֤ד מֶֽלֶךְ־אַשּׁוּר֙ אֶת־שֹׁ֣מְר֔וֹן וַיֶּ֥גֶל אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל אַשּׁ֑וּרָה וַיֹּ֨שֶׁב אֹתָ֜ם בַּחְלַ֧ח וּבְחָב֛וֹר נְהַ֥ר גּוֹזָ֖ן וְעָרֵ֥י מָדָֽי׃ פ

‎7 ‏וַיְהִ֗י כִּֽי־חָטְא֤וּ בְנֵֽי־יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ לַיהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֵיהֶ֔ם הַמַּעֲלֶ֤ה אֹתָם֙ מֵאֶ֣רֶץ מִצְרַ֔יִם מִתַּ֕חַת יַ֖ד פַּרְעֹ֣ה מֶֽלֶךְ־מִצְרָ֑יִם וַיִּֽירְא֖וּ אֱלֹהִ֥ים אֲחֵרִֽים׃

‎8 ‏וַיֵּֽלְכוּ֙ בְּחֻקּ֣וֹת הַגּוֹיִ֔ם אֲשֶׁר֙ הוֹרִ֣ישׁ יְהוָ֔ה מִפְּנֵ֖י בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וּמַלְכֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל אֲשֶׁ֥ר עָשֽׂוּ׃

‎9 ‏וַיְחַפְּא֣וּ בְנֵֽי־יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל דְּבָרִים֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר לֹא־כֵ֔ן עַל־יְהוָ֖ה אֱלֹהֵיהֶ֑ם וַיִּבְנ֨וּ לָהֶ֤ם בָּמוֹת֙ בְּכָל־עָ֣רֵיהֶ֔ם מִמִּגְדַּ֥ל נוֹצְרִ֖ים עַד־עִ֥יר מִבְצָֽר׃

‎10 ‏וַיַּצִּ֧בוּ לָהֶ֛ם מַצֵּב֖וֹת וַאֲשֵׁרִ֑ים עַ֚ל כָּל־גִּבְעָ֣ה גְבֹהָ֔ה וְתַ֖חַת כָּל־עֵ֥ץ רַעֲנָֽן׃

‎11 ‏וַיְקַטְּרוּ־שָׁם֙ בְּכָל־בָּמ֔וֹת כַּגּוֹיִ֕ם אֲשֶׁר־הֶגְלָ֥ה יְהוָ֖ה מִפְּנֵיהֶ֑ם וַֽיַּעֲשׂוּ֙ דְּבָרִ֣ים רָעִ֔ים לְהַכְעִ֖יס אֶת־יְהוָֽה׃

‎12 ‏וַיַּֽעַבְד֖וּ הַגִּלֻּלִ֑ים אֲשֶׁ֨ר אָמַ֤ר יְהוָה֙ לָהֶ֔ם לֹ֥א תַעֲשׂ֖וּ אֶת־הַדָּבָ֥ר הַזֶּֽה׃

‎13 ‏וַיָּ֣עַד יְהוָ֡ה בְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֣ל וּבִיהוּדָ֡ה בְּיַד֩ כָּל־נביאו נְבִיאֵ֨י כָל־חֹזֶ֜ה לֵאמֹ֗ר שֻׁ֝֩בוּ³ מִדַּרְכֵיכֶ֤ם הָֽרָעִים֙ וְשִׁמְרוּ֙ מִצְוֹתַ֣י חֻקּוֹתַ֔י כְּכָ֨ל־הַתּוֹרָ֔ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר צִוִּ֖יתִי אֶת־אֲבֹֽתֵיכֶ֑ם וַֽאֲשֶׁר֙ שָׁלַ֣חְתִּי אֲלֵיכֶ֔ם בְּיַ֖ד עֲבָדַ֥י הַנְּבִיאִֽים׃

‎14 ‏וְלֹ֖א שָׁמֵ֑עוּ וַיַּקְשׁ֤וּ אֶת־עָרְפָּם֙ כְּעֹ֣רֶף אֲבוֹתָ֔ם אֲשֶׁר֙ לֹ֣א הֶאֱמִ֔ינוּ בַּֽיהוָ֖ה אֱלֹהֵיהֶֽם׃

‎15 ‏וַיִּמְאֲס֣וּ אֶת־חֻקָּ֗יו וְאֶת־בְּרִיתוֹ֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר כָּרַ֣ת אֶת־אֲבוֹתָ֔ם וְאֵת֙ עֵֽדְוֹתָ֔יו אֲשֶׁ֥ר הֵעִ֖יד בָּ֑ם וַיֵּ֨לְכוּ֜ אַחֲרֵ֤י הַהֶ֙בֶל֙ וַיֶּהְבָּ֔לוּ וְאַחֲרֵ֤י הַגּוֹיִם֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר סְבִֽיבֹתָ֔ם אֲשֶׁ֨ר צִוָּ֤ה יְהוָה֙ אֹתָ֔ם לְבִלְתִּ֖י עֲשׂ֥וֹת כָּהֶֽם׃

‎16 ‏וַיַּעַזְב֗וּ אֶת־כָּל־מִצְוֹת֙ יְהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֵיהֶ֔ם וַיַּעֲשׂ֥וּ לָהֶ֛ם מַסֵּכָ֖ה שנים שְׁנֵ֣י עֲגָלִ֑ים וַיַּעֲשׂ֣וּ אֲשֵׁירָ֗ה וַיִּֽשְׁתַּחֲווּ֙ לְכָל־צְבָ֣א הַשָּׁמַ֔יִם וַיַּעַבְד֖וּ אֶת־הַבָּֽעַל׃

‎17 ‏וַֽ֠יַּעֲבִירוּ אֶת־בְּנֵיהֶ֤ם וְאֶת־בְּנֽוֹתֵיהֶם֙ בָּאֵ֔שׁ וַיִּקְסְמ֥וּ קְסָמִ֖ים וַיְנַחֵ֑שׁוּ וַיִּֽתְמַכְּר֗וּ לַעֲשׂ֥וֹת הָרַ֛ע בְּעֵינֵ֥י יְהוָ֖ה לְהַכְעִיסֽוֹ׃

‎18 ‏וַיִּתְאַנַּ֨ף יְהוָ֤ה מְאֹד֙ בְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל וַיְסִרֵ֖ם מֵעַ֣ל פָּנָ֑יו לֹ֣א נִשְׁאַ֔ר רַ֛ק שֵׁ֥בֶט יְהוּדָ֖ה לְבַדּֽוֹ׃

‎19 ‏גַּם־יְהוּדָ֕ה לֹ֣א שָׁמַ֔ר אֶת־מִצְוֹ֖ת יְהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֵיהֶ֑ם וַיֵּ֣לְכ֔וּ בְּחֻקּ֥וֹת יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל אֲשֶׁ֥ר עָשֽׂוּ׃

‎20 ‏וַיִּמְאַ֨ס יְהוָ֜ה בְּכָל־זֶ֤רַע יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ וַיְעַנֵּ֔ם וַֽיִּתְּנֵ֖ם בְּיַד־שֹׁסִ֑ים עַ֛ד אֲשֶׁ֥ר הִשְׁלִיכָ֖ם מִפָּנָֽיו׃

‎21 ‏כִּֽי־קָרַ֣ע יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל מֵעַל֙ בֵּ֣ית דָּוִ֔ד וַיַּמְלִ֖יכוּ אֶת־יָרָבְעָ֣ם בֶּן־נְבָ֑ט וידא וַיַּדַּ֨ח יָרָבְעָ֤ם אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ מֵאַחֲרֵ֣י יְהוָ֔ה וְהֶחֱטֵיאָ֖ם¹ חֲטָאָ֥ה גְדוֹלָֽה׃

‎22 ‏וַיֵּֽלְכוּ֙ בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל בְּכָל־חַטֹּ֥אות יָרָבְעָ֖ם אֲשֶׁ֣ר עָשָׂ֑ה לֹא־סָ֖רוּ מִמֶּֽנָּה׃

‎23 ‏עַ֠ד אֲשֶׁר־הֵסִ֨יר יְהוָ֤ה אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ מֵעַ֣ל פָּנָ֔יו כַּאֲשֶׁ֣ר דִּבֶּ֔ר בְּיַ֖ד כָּל־עֲבָדָ֣יו הַנְּבִיאִ֑ים וַיִּ֨גֶל יִשְׂרָאֵ֜ל מֵעַ֤ל אַדְמָתוֹ֙ אַשּׁ֔וּרָה עַ֖ד הַיּ֥וֹם הַזֶּֽה׃ פ

‎24 ‏וַיָּבֵ֣א מֶֽלֶךְ־אַשּׁ֡וּר מִבָּבֶ֡ל וּ֠מִ֠כּוּתָה³ וּמֵעַוָּ֤א וּמֵֽחֲמָת֙ וּסְפַרְוַ֔יִם וַיֹּ֙שֶׁב֙ בְּעָרֵ֣י שֹֽׁמְר֔וֹן תַּ֖חַת בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וַיִּֽרְשׁוּ֙ אֶת־שֹׁ֣מְר֔וֹן וַיֵּֽשְׁב֖וּ בְּעָרֶֽיהָ׃

‎25 ‏וַיְהִ֗י בִּתְחִלַּת֙ שִׁבְתָּ֣ם שָׁ֔ם לֹ֥א יָרְא֖וּ אֶת־יְהוָ֑ה וַיְשַׁלַּ֨ח יְהוָ֤ה בָּהֶם֙ אֶת־הָ֣אֲרָי֔וֹת וַיִּֽהְי֥וּ הֹרְגִ֖ים בָּהֶֽם׃

‎26 ‏וַיֹּאמְר֗וּ לְמֶ֣לֶךְ אַשּׁוּר֮ לֵאמֹר֒ הַגּוֹיִ֗ם אֲשֶׁ֤ר הִגְלִ֙יתָ֙ וַתּ֙וֹשֶׁב֙ בְּעָרֵ֣י שֹׁמְר֔וֹן לֹ֣א יָֽדְע֔וּ אֶת־מִשְׁפַּ֖ט אֱלֹהֵ֣י הָאָ֑רֶץ וַיְשַׁלַּח־בָּ֣ם אֶת־הָאֲרָי֗וֹת וְהִנָּם֙ מְמִיתִ֣ים אוֹתָ֔ם כַּאֲשֶׁר֙ אֵינָ֣ם יֹדְעִ֔ים אֶת־מִשְׁפַּ֖ט אֱלֹהֵ֥י הָאָֽרֶץ׃

‎27 ‏וַיְצַ֨ו מֶֽלֶךְ־אַשּׁ֜וּר לֵאמֹ֗ר הֹלִ֤יכוּ שָׁ֙מָּה֙ אֶחָ֤ד מֵהַכֹּֽהֲנִים֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר הִגְלִיתֶ֣ם מִשָּׁ֔ם וְיֵלְכ֖וּ וְיֵ֣שְׁבוּ שָׁ֑ם וְיֹרֵ֕ם אֶת־מִשְׁפַּ֖ט אֱלֹהֵ֥י הָאָֽרֶץ׃

‎28 ‏וַיָּבֹ֞א אֶחָ֣ד מֵהַכֹּהֲנִ֗ים אֲשֶׁ֤ר הִגְלוּ֙ מִשֹּׁ֣מְר֔וֹן וַיֵּ֖שֶׁב בְּבֵֽית־אֵ֑ל וַֽיְהִי֙ מוֹרֶ֣ה אֹתָ֔ם אֵ֖יךְ יִֽירְא֥וּ אֶת־יְהוָֽה׃

‎29 ‏וַיִּהְי֣וּ עֹשִׂ֔ים גּ֥וֹי גּ֖וֹי אֱלֹהָ֑יו וַיַּנִּ֣יחוּ׀ בְּבֵ֣ית הַבָּמ֗וֹת אֲשֶׁ֤ר עָשׂוּ֙ הַשֹּׁ֣מְרֹנִ֔ים גּ֥וֹי גּוֹי֙ בְּעָ֣רֵיהֶ֔ם אֲשֶׁ֛ר הֵ֥ם יֹשְׁבִ֖ים שָֽׁם׃

‎30 ‏וְאַנְשֵׁ֣י בָבֶ֗ל עָשׂוּ֙ אֶת־סֻכּ֣וֹת בְּנ֔וֹת וְאַנְשֵׁי־כ֔וּת³ עָשׂ֖וּ אֶת־נֵֽרְגַ֑ל וְאַנְשֵׁ֥י חֲמָ֖ת עָשׂ֥וּ אֶת־אֲשִׁימָֽא׃

‎31 ‏וְהָעַוִּ֛ים עָשׂ֥וּ נִבְחַ֖ז וְאֶת־תַּרְתָּ֑ק וְהַסְפַרְוִ֗ים שֹׂרְפִ֤ים אֶת־בְּנֵיהֶם֙ בָּאֵ֔שׁ לְאַדְרַמֶּ֥לֶךְ וַֽעֲנַמֶּ֖לֶךְ אלה אֱלֹהֵ֥י ספרים סְפַרְוָֽיִם׃

‎32 ‏וַיִּהְי֥וּ יְרֵאִ֖ים אֶת־יְהוָ֑ה וַיַּעֲשׂ֨וּ לָהֶ֤ם מִקְצוֹתָם֙ כֹּהֲנֵ֣י בָמ֔וֹת וַיִּהְי֛וּ עֹשִׂ֥ים לָהֶ֖ם בְּבֵ֥ית הַבָּמֽוֹת׃

‎33 ‏אֶת־יְהוָ֖ה הָי֣וּ יְרֵאִ֑ים וְאֶת־אֱלֹֽהֵיהֶם֙ הָי֣וּ עֹֽבְדִ֔ים כְּמִשְׁפַּט֙ הַגּוֹיִ֔ם אֲשֶׁר־הִגְל֥וּ אֹתָ֖ם מִשָּֽׁם׃

‎34 ‏עַ֣ד הַיּ֤וֹם הַזֶּה֙ הֵ֣ם עֹשִׂ֔ים כַּמִּשְׁפָּטִ֖ים הָרִֽאשֹׁנִ֑ים אֵינָ֤ם יְרֵאִים֙ אֶת־יְהוָ֔ה וְאֵינָ֣ם עֹשִׂ֗ים כְּחֻקֹּתָם֙ וּכְמִשְׁפָּטָ֔ם וְכַתּוֹרָ֣ה וְכַמִּצְוָ֗ה אֲשֶׁ֨ר צִוָּ֤ה יְהוָה֙ אֶת־בְּנֵ֣י יַעֲקֹ֔ב אֲשֶׁר־שָׂ֥ם שְׁמ֖וֹ יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

‎35 ‏וַיִּכְרֹ֨ת יְהוָ֤ה אִתָּם֙ בְּרִ֔ית וַיְצַוֵּ֣ם לֵאמֹ֔ר לֹ֥א תִֽירְא֖וּ אֱלֹהִ֣ים אֲחֵרִ֑ים וְלֹא־תִשְׁתַּחֲו֣וּ לָהֶ֔ם וְלֹ֣א תַעַבְד֔וּם וְלֹ֥א תִזְבְּח֖וּ לָהֶֽם׃

‎36 ‏כִּ֣י אִֽם־אֶת־יְהוָ֗ה אֲשֶׁר֩ הֶעֱלָ֨ה אֶתְכֶ֜ם מֵאֶ֧רֶץ מִצְרַ֛יִם בְּכֹ֧חַ גָּד֛וֹל וּבִזְר֥וֹעַ נְטוּיָ֖ה אֹת֣וֹ תִירָ֑אוּ וְל֥וֹ תִֽשְׁתַּחֲו֖וּ וְל֥וֹ תִזְבָּֽחוּ׃

‎37 ‏וְאֶת־הַחֻקִּ֨ים וְאֶת־הַמִּשְׁפָּטִ֜ים וְהַתּוֹרָ֤ה וְהַמִּצְוָה֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר כָּתַ֣ב לָכֶ֔ם תִּשְׁמְר֥וּן לַעֲשׂ֖וֹת כָּל־הַיָּמִ֑ים וְלֹ֥א תִֽירְא֖וּ אֱלֹהִ֥ים אֲחֵרִֽים׃

‎38 ‏וְהַבְּרִ֛ית אֲשֶׁר־כָּרַ֥תִּי אִתְּכֶ֖ם לֹ֣א תִשְׁכָּ֑חוּ וְלֹ֥א תִֽירְא֖וּ אֱלֹהִ֥ים אֲחֵרִֽים׃

‎39 ‏כִּ֛י אִֽם־אֶת־יְהוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֵיכֶ֖ם תִּירָ֑אוּ וְהוּא֙ יַצִּ֣יל אֶתְכֶ֔ם מִיַּ֖ד כָּל־אֹיְבֵיכֶֽם׃

‎40 ‏וְלֹ֖א שָׁמֵ֑עוּ כִּ֛י אִֽם־כְּמִשְׁפָּטָ֥ם הָֽרִאשׁ֖וֹן הֵ֥ם עֹשִֽׂים׃

‎41 ‏וַיִּהְי֣וּ׀ הַגּוֹיִ֣ם הָאֵ֗לֶּה יְרֵאִים֙ אֶת־יְהוָ֔ה וְאֶת־פְּסִֽילֵיהֶ֖ם הָי֣וּ עֹֽבְדִ֑ים גַּם־בְּנֵיהֶ֣ם׀ וּבְנֵ֣י בְנֵיהֶ֗ם כַּאֲשֶׁ֨ר עָשׂ֤וּ אֲבֹתָם֙ הֵ֣ם עֹשִׂ֔ים עַ֖ד הַיּ֥וֹם הַזֶּֽה׃ פ

Vul

1 Anno duodecimo Achaz regis Juda, regnavit Osee filius Ela in Samaria super Israël novem annis.

2 Fecitque malum coram Domino, sed non sicut reges Israël qui ante eum fuerant.

3 Contra hunc ascendit Salmanasar rex Assyriorum, et factus est ei Osee servus, reddebatque illi tributa.

4 Cumque deprehendisset rex Assyriorum Osee, quod rebellare nitens misisset nuntios ad Sua regem Ægypti ne præstaret tributa regi Assyriorum sicut singulis annis solitus erat, obsedit eum, et vinctum misit in carcerem.

5 Pervagatusque est omnem terram: et ascendens Samariam, obsedit eam tribus annis.

6 Anno autem nono Osee, cepit rex Assyriorum Samariam, et transtulit Israël in Assyrios: posuitque eos in Hala et in Habor juxta fluvium Gozan, in civitatibus Medorum.

7 Factum est enim, cum peccassent filii Israël Domino Deo suo, qui eduxerat eos de terra Ægypti, de manu Pharaonis regis Ægypti, coluerunt deos alienos.

8 Et ambulaverunt juxta ritum gentium quas consumpserat Dominus in conspectu filiorum Israël et regum Israël, quia similiter fecerant.

9 Et offenderunt filii Israël verbis non rectis Dominum Deum suum: et ædificaverunt sibi excelsa in cunctis urbibus suis, a turre custodum usque ad civitatem munitam.

10 Feceruntque sibi statuas et lucos in omni colle sublimi, et subter omne lignum nemorosum:

11 et adolebant ibi incensum super aras in morem gentium quas transtulerat Dominus a facie eorum: feceruntque verba pessima irritantes Dominum.

12 Et coluerunt immunditias de quibus præcepit eis Dominus ne facerent verbum hoc.

13 Et testificatus est Dominus in Israël et in Juda per manum omnium prophetarum et videntium, dicens: Revertimini a viis vestris pessimis, et custodite præcepta mea et cæremonias, juxta omnem legem quam præcepi patribus vestris, et sicut misi ad vos in manu servorum meorum prophetarum.

14 Qui non audierunt, sed induraverunt cervicem suam juxta cervicem patrum suorum, qui noluerunt obedire Domino Deo suo.

15 Et abjecerunt legitima ejus, et pactum quod pepigit cum patribus eorum, et testificationes quibus contestatus est eos: secutique sunt vanitates, et vane egerunt: et secuti sunt gentes quæ erant per circuitum eorum, super quibus præceperat Dominus eis ut non facerent sicut et illæ faciebant.

16 Et dereliquerunt omnia præcepta Domini Dei sui: feceruntque sibi conflatiles duos vitulos, et lucos, et adoraverunt universam militiam cæli: servieruntque Baal,

17 et consecraverunt filios suos et filias suas per ignem: et divinationibus inserviebant, et auguriis: et tradiderunt se ut facerent malum coram Domino, ut irritarent eum.

18 Iratusque est Dominus vehementer Israëli, et abstulit eos a conspectu suo, et non remansit nisi tribus Juda tantummodo.

19 Sed nec ipse Juda custodivit mandata Domini Dei sui: verum ambulavit in erroribus Israël, quos operatus fuerat.

20 Projecitque Dominus omne semen Israël, et afflixit eos, et tradidit eos in manu diripientium, donec projiceret eos a facie sua:

21 ex eo jam tempore quo scissus est Israël a domo David, et constituerunt sibi regem Jeroboam filium Nabat: separavit enim Jeroboam Israël a Domino, et peccare eos fecit peccatum magnum.

22 Et ambulaverunt filii Israël in universis peccatis Jeroboam quæ fecerat: et non recesserunt ab eis,

23 usquequo Dominus auferret Israël a facie sua, sicut locutus fuerat in manu omnium servorum suorum prophetarum: translatusque est Israël de terra sua in Assyrios, usque in diem hanc.

24 Adduxit autem rex Assyriorum de Babylone, et de Cutha, et de Avah, et de Emath, et de Sepharvaim: et collocavit eos in civitatibus Samariæ pro filiis Israël: qui possederunt Samariam, et habitaverunt in urbibus ejus.

25 Cumque ibi habitare cœpissent, non timebant Dominum: et immisit in eos Dominus leones, qui interficiebant eos.

26 Nuntiatumque est regi Assyriorum, et dictum: Gentes quas transtulisti, et habitare fecisti in civitatibus Samariæ, ignorant legitima Dei terræ: et immisit in eos Dominus leones, et ecce interficiunt eos, eo quod ignorent ritum Dei terræ.

27 Præcepit autem rex Assyriorum, dicens: Ducite illuc unum de sacerdotibus quos inde captivos adduxistis, et vadat, et habitet cum eis: et doceat eos legitima Dei terræ.

28 Igitur cum venisset unus de sacerdotibus his qui captivi ducti fuerant de Samaria, habitavit in Bethel, et docebat eos quomodo colerent Dominum.

29 Et unaquæque gens fabricata est deum suum: posueruntque eos in fanis excelsis quæ fecerant Samaritæ, gens et gens in urbibus suis, in quibus habitabat.

30 Viri enim Babylonii fecerunt Sochothbenoth: viri autem Cuthæi fecerunt Nergel: et viri de Emath fecerunt Asima.

31 Porro Hevæi fecerunt Nebahaz et Tharthac. Hi autem qui erant de Sepharvaim, comburebant filios suos igni, Adramelech et Anamelech diis Sepharvaim,

32 et nihilominus colebant Dominum. Fecerunt autem sibi de novissimis sacerdotes excelsorum, et ponebant eos in fanis sublimibus.

33 Et cum Dominum colerent, diis quoque suis serviebant juxta consuetudinem gentium, de quibus translati fuerant Samariam.

34 Usque in præsentem diem morem sequuntur antiquum: non timent Dominum, neque custodiunt cæremonias ejus, judicia, et legem, et mandatum, quod præceperat Dominus filiis Jacob, quem cognominavit Israël:

35 et percusserat cum eis pactum, et mandaverat eis, dicens: Nolite timere deos alienos, et non adoretis eos, neque colatis eos, et non immoletis eis:

36 sed Dominum Deum vestrum, qui eduxit vos de terra Ægypti in fortitudine magna et in brachio extento, ipsum timete, et illum adorate, et ipsi immolate.

37 Cæremonias quoque, et judicia, et legem, et mandatum, quod scripsit vobis, custodite ut faciatis cunctis diebus: et non timeatis deos alienos.

38 Et pactum quod percussit vobiscum, nolite oblivisci: nec colatis deos alienos,

39 sed Dominum Deum vestrum timete, et ipse eruet vos de manu omnium inimicorum vestrorum.

40 Illi vero non audierunt, sed juxta consuetudinem suam pristinam perpetrabant.

41 Fuerunt igitur gentes istæ timentes quidem Dominum, sed nihilominus et idolis suis servientes: nam et filii eorum, et nepotes, sicut fecerunt patres sui, ita faciunt usque in præsentem diem.
