1  And Dinah¹⁷⁸³ the daughter¹³²³ of Leah,³⁸¹² which⁸³⁴ she bore³²⁰⁵ unto Jacob,³²⁹⁰ went out³³¹⁸ to see⁷²⁰⁰ the daughters¹³²³ of the land.⁷⁷⁶

2  And when Shechem⁷⁹²⁸ the son¹¹²¹ of Hamor²⁵⁴⁴ the Hivite,²³⁴⁰ prince⁵³⁸⁷ of the country,⁷⁷⁶ saw⁷²⁰⁰ her, he took³⁹⁴⁷ her, and lay with⁷⁹⁰¹ her, and defiled⁶⁰³¹ her.

3  And his soul⁵³¹⁵ cleaved¹⁶⁹² unto Dinah¹⁷⁸³ the daughter¹³²³ of Jacob,³²⁹⁰ and he loved^{157 853} the damsel,⁵²⁹¹ and spoke¹⁶⁹⁶ kindly^{5921 3820} unto the damsel.⁵²⁹¹

4  And Shechem⁷⁹²⁸ spoke⁵⁵⁹ unto⁴¹³ his father¹ Hamor,²⁵⁴⁴ saying,⁵⁵⁹ Get³⁹⁴⁷ me ⁸⁵³ this²⁰⁶³ damsel³²⁰⁷ to wife.⁸⁰²

5  And Jacob³²⁹⁰ heard⁸⁰⁸⁵ that³⁵⁸⁸ he had defiled^{2930 853} Dinah¹⁷⁸³ his daughter:¹³²³ now his sons¹¹²¹ were¹⁹⁶¹ with⁸⁵⁴ his cattle⁴⁷³⁵ in the field:⁷⁷⁰⁴ and Jacob³²⁹⁰ held his peace²⁷⁹⁰ until⁵⁷⁰⁴ they were come.⁹³⁵

6  And Hamor²⁵⁴⁴ the father¹ of Shechem⁷⁹²⁷ went out³³¹⁸ unto⁴¹³ Jacob³²⁹⁰ to commune¹⁶⁹⁶ with⁸⁵⁴ him.

7  And the sons¹¹²¹ of Jacob³²⁹⁰ came⁹³⁵ out of⁴⁴⁸⁰ the field⁷⁷⁰⁴ when they heard⁸⁰⁸⁵ it: and the men³⁷⁶ were grieved,⁶⁰⁸⁷ and they were very wroth,^{2734 3966} because³⁵⁸⁸ he had wrought⁶²¹³ folly⁵⁰³⁹ in Israel³⁴⁷⁸ in lying with^{7901 853} Jacob's³²⁹⁰ daughter;¹³²³ which thing³⁶⁵¹ ought not³⁸⁰⁸ to be done.⁶²¹³

8  And Hamor²⁵⁴⁴ communed¹⁶⁹⁶ with⁸⁵⁴ them, saying,⁵⁵⁹ The soul⁵³¹⁵ of my son¹¹²¹ Shechem⁷⁹²⁸ longeth²⁸³⁶ for your daughter:¹³²³ I pray you⁴⁹⁹⁴ give⁵⁴¹⁴ her him to wife.⁸⁰²

9  And make ye marriages²⁸⁵⁹ with⁸⁵⁴ us, and give⁵⁴¹⁴ your daughters¹³²³ unto us, and take³⁹⁴⁷ our daughters¹³²³ unto you.

10  And ye shall dwell³⁴²⁷ with⁸⁵⁴ us: and the land⁷⁷⁶ shall be¹⁹⁶¹ before⁶⁴⁴⁰ you; dwell³⁴²⁷ and trade⁵⁵⁰³ ye therein, and get you possessions²⁷⁰ therein.

11  And Shechem⁷⁹²⁸ said⁵⁵⁹ unto⁴¹³ her father¹ and unto⁴¹³ her brethren,²⁵¹ Let me find⁴⁶⁷² grace²⁵⁸⁰ in your eyes,⁵⁸⁶⁹ and what⁸³⁴ ye shall say⁵⁵⁹ unto⁴¹³ me I will give.⁵⁴¹⁴

12  Ask^{7235 5921} me never so much³⁹⁶⁶ dowry⁴¹¹⁹ and gift,⁴⁹⁷⁶ and I will give⁵⁴¹⁴ according as⁸³⁴ ye shall say⁵⁵⁹ unto⁴¹³ me: but give⁵⁴¹⁴ me ⁸⁵³ the damsel⁵²⁹¹ to wife.⁸⁰²

13  And the sons¹¹²¹ of Jacob³²⁹⁰ answered^{6030 853} Shechem⁷⁹²⁸ and Hamor²⁵⁴⁴ his father¹ deceitfully,⁴⁸²⁰ and said,¹⁶⁹⁶ because⁸³⁴ he had defiled^{2930 853} Dinah¹⁷⁸³ their sister:²⁶⁹

14  And they said⁵⁵⁹ unto⁴¹³ them, We cannot^{3808 3201} do⁶²¹³ this²⁰⁸⁸ thing,¹⁶⁹⁷ to give^{5414 853} our sister²⁶⁹ to one³⁷⁶ that⁸³⁴ is uncircumcised;⁶¹⁹⁰ for³⁵⁸⁸ that¹⁹³¹ were a reproach²⁷⁸¹ unto us:

15  But³⁸⁹ in this²⁰⁶³ will we consent²²⁵ unto you: If⁵¹⁸ ye will be¹⁹⁶¹ as we be, that every³⁶⁰⁵ male²¹⁴⁵ of you be circumcised;⁴¹³⁵

16  Then will we give^{5414 853} our daughters¹³²³ unto you, and we will take³⁹⁴⁷ your daughters¹³²³ to us, and we will dwell³⁴²⁷ with⁸⁵⁴ you, and we will become¹⁹⁶¹ one²⁵⁹ people.⁵⁹⁷¹

17  But if⁵¹⁸ ye will not³⁸⁰⁸ hearken⁸⁰⁸⁵ unto⁴¹³ us, to be circumcised;⁴¹³⁵ then will we take^{3947 853} our daughter,¹³²³ and we will be gone.¹⁹⁸⁰

18  And their words¹⁶⁹⁷ pleased^{3190 5869} Hamor,²⁵⁴⁴ and Shechem⁷⁹²⁸ Hamor's²⁵⁴⁴ son.¹¹²¹

19  And the young man⁵²⁸⁸ deferred³⁰⁹ not³⁸⁰⁸ to do⁶²¹³ the thing,¹⁶⁹⁷ because³⁵⁸⁸ he had delight²⁶⁵⁴ in Jacob's³²⁹⁰ daughter:¹³²³ and he¹⁹³¹ was more honorable³⁵¹³ than all^{4480 3605} the house¹⁰⁰⁴ of his father.¹

20  And Hamor²⁵⁴⁴ and Shechem⁷⁹²⁸ his son¹¹²¹ came⁹³⁵ unto⁴¹³ the gate⁸¹⁷⁹ of their city,⁵⁸⁹² and communed¹⁶⁹⁶ with⁴¹³ the men³⁷⁶ of their city,⁵⁸⁹² saying,⁵⁵⁹

21  These⁴²⁸ men³⁷⁶ are peaceable⁸⁰⁰³ with⁸⁵⁴ us; therefore let them dwell³⁴²⁷ in the land,⁷⁷⁶ and trade⁵⁵⁰³ therein; for the land,⁷⁷⁶ behold,²⁰⁰⁹ it is large enough^{7342 3027} for⁶⁴⁴⁰ them; let us take^{3947 853} their daughters¹³²³ to us for wives,⁸⁰² and let us give⁵⁴¹⁴ them our daughters.¹³²³

22  Only³⁸⁹ herein²⁰⁶³ will the men³⁷⁶ consent²²⁵ unto us for to dwell³⁴²⁷ with⁸⁵⁴ us, to be¹⁹⁶¹ one²⁵⁹ people,⁵⁹⁷¹ if every³⁶⁰⁵ male²¹⁴⁵ among us be circumcised,⁴¹³⁵ as⁸³⁴ they¹⁹⁹² are circumcised.⁴¹³⁵

23  Shall not³⁸⁰⁸ their cattle⁴⁷³⁵ and their substance⁷⁰⁷⁵ and every³⁶⁰⁵ beast⁹²⁹ of theirs be ours? only³⁸⁹ let us consent²²⁵ unto them, and they will dwell³⁴²⁷ with⁸⁵⁴ us.

24  And unto⁴¹³ Hamor²⁵⁴⁴ and unto⁴¹³ Shechem⁷⁹²⁸ his son¹¹²¹ hearkened⁸⁰⁸⁵ all³⁶⁰⁵ that went out³³¹⁸ of the gate⁸¹⁷⁹ of his city;⁵⁸⁹² and every³⁶⁰⁵ male²¹⁴⁵ was circumcised,⁴¹³⁵ all³⁶⁰⁵ that went out³³¹⁸ of the gate⁸¹⁷⁹ of his city.⁵⁸⁹²

25  And it came to pass¹⁹⁶¹ on the third⁷⁹⁹² day,³¹¹⁷ when they were¹⁹⁶¹ sore,³⁵¹⁰ that two⁸¹⁴⁷ of the sons¹¹²¹ of Jacob,³²⁹⁰ Simeon⁸⁰⁹⁵ and Levi,³⁸⁷⁸ Dinah's¹⁷⁸³ brethren,²⁵¹ took³⁹⁴⁷ each man³⁷⁶ his sword,²⁷¹⁹ and came⁹³⁵ upon⁵⁹²¹ the city⁵⁸⁹² boldly,⁹⁸³ and slew²⁰²⁶ all³⁶⁰⁵ the males.²¹⁴⁵

26  And they slew²⁰²⁶ Hamor²⁵⁴⁴ and Shechem⁷⁹²⁸ his son¹¹²¹ with the edge⁶³¹⁰ of the sword,²⁷¹⁹ and took^{3947 853} Dinah¹⁷⁸³ out of Shechem's⁷⁹²⁸ house,^{4480 1004} and went out.³³¹⁸

27  The sons¹¹²¹ of Jacob³²⁹⁰ came⁹³⁵ upon⁵⁹²¹ the slain,²⁴⁹¹ and spoiled⁹⁶² the city,⁵⁸⁹² because⁸³⁴ they had defiled²⁹³⁰ their sister.²⁶⁹

28  They took^{3947 853} their sheep,⁶⁶²⁹ and their oxen,¹²⁴¹ and their asses,²⁵⁴³ and that which⁸³⁴ was in the city,⁵⁸⁹² and that which⁸³⁴ was in the field,⁷⁷⁰⁴

29  And all³⁶⁰⁵ their wealth,²⁴²⁸ and all³⁶⁰⁵ their little ones,²⁹⁴⁵ and their wives⁸⁰² took they captive,⁷⁶¹⁷ and spoiled⁹⁶² even all³⁶⁰⁵ that⁸³⁴ was in the house.¹⁰⁰⁴

30  And Jacob³²⁹⁰ said⁵⁵⁹ to⁴¹³ Simeon⁸⁰⁹⁵ and Levi,³⁸⁷⁸ Ye have troubled⁵⁹¹⁶ me to make me to stink⁸⁸⁷ among the inhabitants³⁴²⁷ of the land,⁷⁷⁶ among the Canaanites³⁶⁶⁹ and the Perizzites:⁶⁵²² and I⁵⁸⁹ being few⁴⁹⁶² in number,⁴⁵⁵⁷ they shall gather themselves together⁶²² against⁵⁹²¹ me, and slay⁵²²¹ me; and I shall be destroyed,⁸⁰⁴⁵ I⁵⁸⁹ and my house.¹⁰⁰⁴

31  And they said,⁵⁵⁹ Should he deal with^{6213 853} our sister²⁶⁹ as with an harlot?²¹⁸¹

1 ἐξῆλθεν δὲ Δινα ἡ θυγάτηρ Λειας ἣν ἔτεκεν τῷ Ιακωβ καταμαθεῖν τὰς θυγατέρας τῶν ἐγχωρίων

2 καὶ εἶδεν αὐτὴν Συχεμ ὁ υἱὸς Εμμωρ ὁ Χορραῖος ὁ ἄρχων τῆς γῆς καὶ λαβὼν αὐτὴν ἐκοιμήθη μετ᾽ αὐτῆς καὶ ἐταπείνωσεν αὐτήν

3 καὶ προσέσχεν τῇ ψυχῇ Δινας τῆς θυγατρὸς Ιακωβ καὶ ἠγάπησεν τὴν παρθένον καὶ ἐλάλησεν κατὰ τὴν διάνοιαν τῆς παρθένου αὐτῇ

4 εἶπεν δὲ Συχεμ πρὸς Εμμωρ τὸν πατέρα αὐτοῦ λέγων λαβέ μοι τὴν παιδίσκην ταύτην εἰς γυναῖκα

5 Ιακωβ δὲ ἤκουσεν ὅτι ἐμίανεν ὁ υἱὸς Εμμωρ Διναν τὴν θυγατέρα αὐτοῦ οἱ δὲ υἱοὶ αὐτοῦ ἦσαν μετὰ τῶν κτηνῶν αὐτοῦ ἐν τῷ πεδίῳ παρεσιώπησεν δὲ Ιακωβ ἕως τοῦ ἐλθεῖν αὐτούς

6 ἐξῆλθεν δὲ Εμμωρ ὁ πατὴρ Συχεμ πρὸς Ιακωβ λαλῆσαι αὐτῷ

7 οἱ δὲ υἱοὶ Ιακωβ ἦλθον ἐκ τοῦ πεδίου ὡς δὲ ἤκουσαν κατενύχθησαν οἱ ἄνδρες καὶ λυπηρὸν ἦν αὐτοῖς σφόδρα ὅτι ἄσχημον ἐποίησεν ἐν Ισραηλ κοιμηθεὶς μετὰ τῆς θυγατρὸς Ιακωβ καὶ οὐχ οὕτως ἔσται

8 καὶ ἐλάλησεν Εμμωρ αὐτοῖς λέγων Συχεμ ὁ υἱός μου προείλατο τῇ ψυχῇ τὴν θυγατέρα ὑμῶν δότε οὖν αὐτὴν αὐτῷ γυναῖκα

9 ἐπιγαμβρεύσασθε ἡμῖν τὰς θυγατέρας ὑμῶν δότε ἡμῖν καὶ τὰς θυγατέρας ἡμῶν λάβετε τοῖς υἱοῖς ὑμῶν

10 καὶ ἐν ἡμῖν κατοικεῖτε καὶ ἡ γῆ ἰδοὺ πλατεῖα ἐναντίον ὑμῶν κατοικεῖτε καὶ ἐμπορεύεσθε ἐπ᾽ αὐτῆς καὶ ἐγκτήσασθε ἐν αὐτῇ

11 εἶπεν δὲ Συχεμ πρὸς τὸν πατέρα αὐτῆς καὶ πρὸς τοὺς ἀδελφοὺς αὐτῆς εὕροιμι χάριν ἐναντίον ὑμῶν καὶ ὃ ἐὰν εἴπητε δώσομεν

12 πληθύνατε τὴν φερνὴν σφόδρα καὶ δώσω καθότι ἂν εἴπητέ μοι καὶ δώσετέ μοι τὴν παῖδα ταύτην εἰς γυναῖκα

13 ἀπεκρίθησαν δὲ οἱ υἱοὶ Ιακωβ τῷ Συχεμ καὶ Εμμωρ τῷ πατρὶ αὐτοῦ μετὰ δόλου καὶ ἐλάλησαν αὐτοῖς ὅτι ἐμίαναν Διναν τὴν ἀδελφὴν αὐτῶν

14 καὶ εἶπαν αὐτοῖς Συμεων καὶ Λευι οἱ ἀδελφοὶ Δινας υἱοὶ δὲ Λειας οὐ δυνησόμεθα ποιῆσαι τὸ ῥῆμα τοῦτο δοῦναι τὴν ἀδελφὴν ἡμῶν ἀνθρώπῳ ὃς ἔχει ἀκροβυστίαν ἔστιν γὰρ ὄνειδος ἡμῖν

15 ἐν τούτῳ ὁμοιωθησόμεθα ὑμῖν καὶ κατοικήσομεν ἐν ὑμῖν ἐὰν γένησθε ὡς ἡμεῖς καὶ ὑμεῖς ἐν τῷ περιτμηθῆναι ὑμῶν πᾶν ἀρσενικόν

16 καὶ δώσομεν τὰς θυγατέρας ἡμῶν ὑμῖν καὶ ἀπὸ τῶν θυγατέρων ὑμῶν λημψόμεθα ἡμῖν γυναῖκας καὶ οἰκήσομεν παρ᾽ ὑμῖν καὶ ἐσόμεθα ὡς γένος ἕν

17 ἐὰν δὲ μὴ εἰσακούσητε ἡμῶν τοῦ περιτέμνεσθαι λαβόντες τὰς θυγατέρας ἡμῶν ἀπελευσόμεθα

18 καὶ ἤρεσαν οἱ λόγοι ἐναντίον Εμμωρ καὶ ἐναντίον Συχεμ τοῦ υἱοῦ Εμμωρ

19 καὶ οὐκ ἐχρόνισεν ὁ νεανίσκος τοῦ ποιῆσαι τὸ ῥῆμα τοῦτο ἐνέκειτο γὰρ τῇ θυγατρὶ Ιακωβ αὐτὸς δὲ ἦν ἐνδοξότατος πάντων τῶν ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ τοῦ πατρὸς αὐτοῦ

20 ἦλθεν δὲ Εμμωρ καὶ Συχεμ ὁ υἱὸς αὐτοῦ πρὸς τὴν πύλην τῆς πόλεως αὐτῶν καὶ ἐλάλησαν πρὸς τοὺς ἄνδρας τῆς πόλεως αὐτῶν λέγοντες

21 οἱ ἄνθρωποι οὗτοι εἰρηνικοί εἰσιν μεθ᾽ ἡμῶν οἰκείτωσαν ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς καὶ ἐμπορευέσθωσαν αὐτήν ἡ δὲ γῆ ἰδοὺ πλατεῖα ἐναντίον αὐτῶν τὰς θυγατέρας αὐτῶν λημψόμεθα ἡμῖν γυναῖκας καὶ τὰς θυγατέρας ἡμῶν δώσομεν αὐτοῖς

22 μόνον ἐν τούτῳ ὁμοιωθήσονται ἡμῖν οἱ ἄνθρωποι τοῦ κατοικεῖν μεθ᾽ ἡμῶν ὥστε εἶναι λαὸν ἕνα ἐν τῷ περιτέμνεσθαι ἡμῶν πᾶν ἀρσενικόν καθὰ καὶ αὐτοὶ περιτέτμηνται

23 καὶ τὰ κτήνη αὐτῶν καὶ τὰ ὑπάρχοντα αὐτῶν καὶ τὰ τετράποδα οὐχ ἡμῶν ἔσται μόνον ἐν τούτῳ ὁμοιωθῶμεν αὐτοῖς καὶ οἰκήσουσιν μεθ᾽ ἡμῶν

24 καὶ εἰσήκουσαν Εμμωρ καὶ Συχεμ τοῦ υἱοῦ αὐτοῦ πάντες οἱ ἐκπορευόμενοι τὴν πύλην τῆς πόλεως αὐτῶν καὶ περιετέμοντο τὴν σάρκα τῆς ἀκροβυστίας αὐτῶν πᾶς ἄρσην

25 ἐγένετο δὲ ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ τῇ τρίτῃ ὅτε ἦσαν ἐν τῷ πόνῳ ἔλαβον οἱ δύο υἱοὶ Ιακωβ Συμεων καὶ Λευι οἱ ἀδελφοὶ Δινας ἕκαστος τὴν μάχαιραν αὐτοῦ καὶ εἰσῆλθον εἰς τὴν πόλιν ἀσφαλῶς καὶ ἀπέκτειναν πᾶν ἀρσενικόν

26 τόν τε Εμμωρ καὶ Συχεμ τὸν υἱὸν αὐτοῦ ἀπέκτειναν ἐν στόματι μαχαίρας καὶ ἔλαβον τὴν Διναν ἐκ τοῦ οἴκου τοῦ Συχεμ καὶ ἐξῆλθον

27 οἱ δὲ υἱοὶ Ιακωβ εἰσῆλθον ἐπὶ τοὺς τραυματίας καὶ διήρπασαν τὴν πόλιν ἐν ᾗ ἐμίαναν Διναν τὴν ἀδελφὴν αὐτῶν

28 καὶ τὰ πρόβατα αὐτῶν καὶ τοὺς βόας αὐτῶν καὶ τοὺς ὄνους αὐτῶν ὅσα τε ἦν ἐν τῇ πόλει καὶ ὅσα ἦν ἐν τῷ πεδίῳ ἔλαβον

29 καὶ πάντα τὰ σώματα αὐτῶν καὶ πᾶσαν τὴν ἀποσκευὴν αὐτῶν καὶ τὰς γυναῖκας αὐτῶν ᾐχμαλώτευσαν καὶ διήρπασαν ὅσα τε ἦν ἐν τῇ πόλει καὶ ὅσα ἦν ἐν ταῖς οἰκίαις

30 εἶπεν δὲ Ιακωβ Συμεων καὶ Λευι μισητόν με πεποιήκατε ὥστε πονηρόν με εἶναι πᾶσιν τοῖς κατοικοῦσιν τὴν γῆν ἔν τε τοῖς Χαναναίοις καὶ τοῖς Φερεζαίοις ἐγὼ δὲ ὀλιγοστός εἰμι ἐν ἀριθμῷ καὶ συναχθέντες ἐπ᾽ ἐμὲ συγκόψουσίν με καὶ ἐκτριβήσομαι ἐγὼ καὶ ὁ οἶκός μου

31 οἱ δὲ εἶπαν ἀλλ᾽ ὡσεὶ πόρνῃ χρήσωνται τῇ ἀδελφῇ ἡμῶν

‎1 ‏וַתֵּצֵ֤א דִינָה֙ בַּת־לֵאָ֔ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר יָלְדָ֖ה לְיַעֲקֹ֑ב לִרְא֖וֹת בִּבְנ֥וֹת הָאָֽרֶץ׃

‎2 ‏וַיַּ֨רְא אֹתָ֜הּ שְׁכֶ֧ם בֶּן־חֲמ֛וֹר הַֽחִוִּ֖י נְשִׂ֣יא הָאָ֑רֶץ וַיִּקַּ֥ח אֹתָ֛הּ וַיִּשְׁכַּ֥ב אֹתָ֖הּ וַיְעַנֶּֽהָ׃

‎3 ‏וַתִּדְבַּ֣ק נַפְשׁ֔וֹ בְּדִינָ֖ה בַּֽת־יַעֲקֹ֑ב וַיֶּֽאֱהַב֙ אֶת־הַֽנַּעֲרָ֔ וַיְדַבֵּ֖ר עַל־לֵ֥ב הַֽנַּעֲרָֽ׃

‎4 ‏וַיֹּ֣אמֶר שְׁכֶ֔ם אֶל־חֲמ֥וֹר אָבִ֖יו לֵאמֹ֑ר קַֽח־לִ֛י אֶת־הַיַּלְדָּ֥ה הַזֹּ֖את לְאִשָּֽׁה׃

‎5 ‏וְיַעֲקֹ֣ב שָׁמַ֗ע כִּ֤י טִמֵּא֙ אֶת־דִּינָ֣ה בִתּ֔וֹ וּבָנָ֛יו הָי֥וּ אֶת־מִקְנֵ֖הוּ בַּשָּׂדֶ֑ה וְהֶחֱרִ֥שׁ יַעֲקֹ֖ב עַד־בֹּאָֽם׃

‎6 ‏וַיֵּצֵ֛א חֲמ֥וֹר אֲבִֽי־שְׁכֶ֖ם אֶֽל־יַעֲקֹ֑ב לְדַבֵּ֖ר אִתּֽוֹ׃

‎7 ‏וּבְנֵ֨י יַעֲקֹ֜ב בָּ֤אוּ מִן־הַשָּׂדֶה֙ כְּשָׁמְעָ֔ם וַיִּֽתְעַצְּבוּ֙ הָֽאֲנָשִׁ֔ים וַיִּ֥חַר לָהֶ֖ם מְאֹ֑ד כִּֽי־נְבָלָ֞ה עָשָׂ֣ה בְיִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל לִשְׁכַּב֙ אֶת־בַּֽת־יַעֲקֹ֔ב וְכֵ֖ן לֹ֥א יֵעָשֶֽׂה׃

‎8 ‏וַיְדַבֵּ֥ר חֲמ֖וֹר אִתָּ֣ם לֵאמֹ֑ר שְׁכֶ֣ם בְּנִ֗י חָֽשְׁקָ֤ה נַפְשׁוֹ֙ בְּבִתְּכֶ֔ם תְּנ֨וּ נָ֥א אֹתָ֛הּ ל֖וֹ לְאִשָּֽׁה׃

‎9 ‏וְהִֽתְחַתְּנ֖וּ אֹתָ֑נוּ בְּנֹֽתֵיכֶם֙ תִּתְּנוּ־לָ֔נוּ וְאֶת־בְּנֹתֵ֖ינוּ תִּקְח֥וּ לָכֶֽם׃

‎10 ‏וְאִתָּ֖נוּ תֵּשֵׁ֑בוּ וְהָאָ֙רֶץ֙ תִּהְיֶ֣ה לִפְנֵיכֶ֔ם שְׁבוּ֙ וּסְחָר֔וּהָ וְהֵֽאָחֲז֖וּ בָּֽהּ׃

‎11 ‏וַיֹּ֤אמֶר שְׁכֶם֙ אֶל־אָבִ֣יה¹ וְאֶל־אַחֶ֔יהָ אֶמְצָא־חֵ֖ן בְּעֵינֵיכֶ֑ם וַאֲשֶׁ֥ר תֹּאמְר֛וּ אֵלַ֖י אֶתֵּֽן׃

‎12 ‏הַרְבּ֨וּ עָלַ֤י מְאֹד֙ מֹ֣הַר וּמַתָּ֔ן וְאֶ֨תְּנָ֔ה כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר תֹּאמְר֖וּ אֵלָ֑י וּתְנוּ־לִ֥י אֶת־הַֽנַּעֲרָ֖ לְאִשָּֽׁה׃

‎13 ‏וַיַּעֲנ֨וּ בְנֵֽי־יַעֲקֹ֜ב אֶת־שְׁכֶ֨ם וְאֶת־חֲמ֥וֹר אָבִ֛יו בְּמִרְמָ֖ה וַיְדַבֵּ֑רוּ אֲשֶׁ֣ר טִמֵּ֔א אֵ֖ת דִּינָ֥ה אֲחֹתָֽם׃

‎14 ‏וַיֹּאמְר֣וּ אֲלֵיהֶ֗ם לֹ֤א נוּכַל֙ לַעֲשׂוֹת֙ הַדָּבָ֣ר הַזֶּ֔ה לָתֵת֙ אֶת־אֲחֹתֵ֔נוּ לְאִ֖ישׁ אֲשֶׁר־ל֣וֹ עָרְלָ֑ה כִּֽי־חֶרְפָּ֥ה הִ֖וא לָֽנוּ׃

‎15 ‏אַךְ־בְּזֹ֖את נֵא֣וֹת לָכֶ֑ם אִ֚ם תִּהְי֣וּ כָמֹ֔נוּ לְהִמֹּ֥ל לָכֶ֖ם כָּל־זָכָֽר׃

‎16 ‏וְנָתַ֤נּוּ אֶת־בְּנֹתֵ֙ינוּ֙ לָכֶ֔ם וְאֶת־בְּנֹתֵיכֶ֖ם נִֽקַּֽח־לָ֑נוּ וְיָשַׁ֣בְנוּ אִתְּכֶ֔ם וְהָיִ֖ינוּ לְעַ֥ם אֶחָֽד׃

‎17 ‏וְאִם־לֹ֧א תִשְׁמְע֛וּ אֵלֵ֖ינוּ לְהִמּ֑וֹל וְלָקַ֥חְנוּ אֶת־בִּתֵּ֖נוּ וְהָלָֽכְנוּ׃

‎18 ‏וַיִּֽיטְב֥וּ דִבְרֵיהֶ֖ם בְּעֵינֵ֣י חֲמ֑וֹר וּבְעֵינֵ֖י שְׁכֶ֥ם בֶּן־חֲמֽוֹר׃

‎19 ‏וְלֹֽא־אֵחַ֤ר הַנַּ֙עַר֙ לַעֲשׂ֣וֹת הַדָּבָ֔ר כִּ֥י חָפֵ֖ץ בְּבַֽת־יַעֲקֹ֑ב וְה֣וּא נִכְבָּ֔ד מִכֹּ֖ל בֵּ֥ית אָבִֽיו׃

‎20 ‏וַיָּבֹ֥א חֲמ֛וֹר וּשְׁכֶ֥ם בְּנ֖וֹ אֶל־שַׁ֣עַר עִירָ֑ם וַֽיְדַבְּר֛וּ אֶל־אַנְשֵׁ֥י עִירָ֖ם לֵאמֹֽר׃

‎21 ‏הָאֲנָשִׁ֨ים הָאֵ֜לֶּה שְֽׁלֵמִ֧ים הֵ֣ם אִתָּ֗נוּ וְיֵשְׁב֤וּ בָאָ֙רֶץ֙ וְיִסְחֲר֣וּ אֹתָ֔הּ וְהָאָ֛רֶץ הִנֵּ֥ה רַֽחֲבַת־יָדַ֖יִם לִפְנֵיהֶ֑ם אֶת־בְּנֹתָם֙ נִקַּֽח־לָ֣נוּ לְנָשִׁ֔ים וְאֶת־בְּנֹתֵ֖ינוּ נִתֵּ֥ן לָהֶֽם׃

‎22 ‏אַךְ־בְּ֠זֹאת יֵאֹ֨תוּ לָ֤נוּ הָאֲנָשִׁים֙ לָשֶׁ֣בֶת אִתָּ֔נוּ לִהְי֖וֹת לְעַ֣ם אֶחָ֑ד בְּהִמּ֥וֹל לָ֙נוּ֙ כָּל־זָכָ֔ר כַּאֲשֶׁ֖ר הֵ֥ם נִמֹּלִֽים׃

‎23 ‏מִקְנֵהֶ֤ם וְקִנְיָנָם֙ וְכָל־בְּהֶמְתָּ֔ם הֲל֥וֹא לָ֖נוּ הֵ֑ם אַ֚ךְ נֵא֣וֹתָה לָהֶ֔ם וְיֵשְׁב֖וּ אִתָּֽנוּ׃

‎24 ‏וַיִּשְׁמְע֤וּ אֶל־חֲמוֹר֙ וְאֶל־שְׁכֶ֣ם בְּנ֔וֹ כָּל־יֹצְאֵ֖י שַׁ֣עַר עִיר֑וֹ וַיִּמֹּ֙לוּ֙ כָּל־זָכָ֔ר כָּל־יֹצְאֵ֖י שַׁ֥עַר עִירֽוֹ׃

‎25 ‏וַיְהִי֩ בַיּ֨וֹם הַשְּׁלִישִׁ֜י בִּֽהְיוֹתָ֣ם כֹּֽאֲבִ֗ים וַיִּקְח֣וּ שְׁנֵֽי־בְנֵי־יַ֠עֲקֹב שִׁמְע֨וֹן וְלֵוִ֜י אֲחֵ֤י דִינָה֙ אִ֣ישׁ חַרְבּ֔וֹ וַיָּבֹ֥אוּ עַל־הָעִ֖יר בֶּ֑טַח וַיַּֽהַרְג֖וּ כָּל־זָכָֽר׃

‎26 ‏וְאֶת־חֲמוֹר֙ וְאֶת־שְׁכֶ֣ם בְּנ֔וֹ הָרְג֖וּ לְפִי־חָ֑רֶב וַיִּקְח֧וּ אֶת־דִּינָ֛ה מִבֵּ֥ית שְׁכֶ֖ם וַיֵּצֵֽאוּ׃

‎27 ‏בְּנֵ֣י יַעֲקֹ֗ב בָּ֚אוּ עַל־הַ֣חֲלָלִ֔ים וַיָּבֹ֖זּוּ הָעִ֑יר אֲשֶׁ֥ר טִמְּא֖וּ אֲחוֹתָֽם׃

‎28 ‏אֶת־צֹאנָ֥ם וְאֶת־בְּקָרָ֖ם וְאֶת־חֲמֹרֵיהֶּ֑ם¹ וְאֵ֧ת אֲשֶׁר־בָּעִ֛יר וְאֶת־אֲשֶׁ֥ר בַּשָּׂדֶ֖ה לָקָֽחוּ׃

‎29 ‏וְאֶת־כָּל־חֵילָ֤ם וְאֶת־כָּל־טַפָּם֙ וְאֶת־נְשֵׁיהֶ֔ם שָׁב֖וּ וַיָּבֹ֑זּוּ וְאֵ֖ת כָּל־אֲשֶׁ֥ר בַּבָּֽיִת׃

‎30 ‏וַיֹּ֨אמֶר יַעֲקֹ֜ב אֶל־שִׁמְע֣וֹן וְאֶל־לֵוִי֮ עֲכַרְתֶּ֣ם אֹתִי֒ לְהַבְאִישֵׁ֙נִי֙ בְּיֹשֵׁ֣ב הָאָ֔רֶץ בַּֽכְּנַעֲנִ֖י וּבַפְּרִזִּ֑י וַאֲנִי֙ מְתֵ֣י מִסְפָּ֔ר וְנֶאֶסְפ֤וּ עָלַי֙ וְהִכּ֔וּנִי וְנִשְׁמַדְתִּ֖י אֲנִ֥י וּבֵיתִֽי׃

‎31 ‏וַיֹּאמְר֑וּ הַכְזוֹנָ֕ה יַעֲשֶׂ֖ה אֶת־אֲחוֹתֵֽנוּ׃ פ

Vul

1 Egressa est autem Dina filia Liæ ut videret mulieres regionis illius.

2 Quam cum vidisset Sichem filius Hemor Hevæi, princeps terræ illius, adamavit eam: et rapuit, et dormivit cum illa, vi opprimens virginem.

3 Et conglutinata est anima ejus cum ea, tristemque delinivit blanditiis.

4 Et pergens ad Hemor patrem suum: Accipe, inquit, mihi puellam hanc conjugem.

5 Quod cum audisset Jacob absentibus filiis, et in pastu pecorum occupatis, siluit donec redirent.

6 Egresso autem Hemor patre Sichem ut loqueretur ad Jacob,

7 ecce filii ejus veniebant de agro: auditoque quod acciderat, irati sunt valde, eo quod fœdam rem operatus esset in Israël et, violata filia Jacob, rem illicitam perpetrasset.

8 Locutus est itaque Hemor ad eos: Sichem filii mei adhæsit anima filiæ vestræ: date eam illi uxorem:

9 et jungamus vicissim connubia: filias vestras tradite nobis, et filias nostras accipite,

10 et habitate nobiscum: terra in potestate vestra est: exercete, negotiamini, et possidete eam.

11 Sed et Sichem ad patrem et ad fratres ejus ait: Inveniam gratiam coram vobis: et quæcumque statueritis, dabo:

12 augete dotem, et munera postulate, et libenter tribuam quod petieritis: tantum date mihi puellam hanc uxorem.

13 Responderunt filii Jacob Sichem et patri ejus in dolo, sævientes ob stuprum sororis:

14 Non possumus facere quod petitis, nec dare sororem nostram homini incircumciso: quod illicitum et nefarium est apud nos.

15 Sed in hoc valebimus fœderari, si volueritis esse similes nostri, et circumcidatur in vobis omne masculini sexus;

16 tunc dabimus et accipiemus mutuo filias vestras ac nostras: et habitabimus vobiscum, erimusque unus populus.

17 Si autem circumcidi nolueritis, tollemus filiam nostram, et recedemus.

18 Placuit oblatio eorum Hemor, et Sichem filio ejus,

19 nec distulit adolescens quin statim quod petebatur expleret: amabat enim puellam valde, et ipse erat inclytus in omni domo patris sui.

20 Ingressique portam urbis, locuti sunt ad populum:

21 Viri isti pacifici sunt, et volunt habitare nobiscum: negotientur in terra, et exerceant eam, quæ spatiosa et lata cultoribus indiget: filias eorum accipiemus uxores, et nostras illis dabimus.

22 Unum est quo differtur tantum bonum: si circumcidamus masculos nostros, ritum gentis imitantes.

23 Et substantia eorum, et pecora, et cuncta quæ possident, nostra erunt: tantum in hoc acquiescamus, et habitantes simul, unum efficiemus populum.

24 Assensique sunt omnes, circumcisis cunctis maribus.

25 Et ecce, die tertio, quando gravissimus vulnerum dolor est: arreptis duo filii Jacob, Simeon et Levi fratres Dinæ, gladiis, ingressi sunt urbem confidenter: interfectisque omnibus masculis,

26 Hemor et Sichem pariter necaverunt, tollentes Dinam de domo Sichem sororem suam.

27 Quibus egressis, irruerunt super occisos ceteri filii Jacob: et depopulati sunt urbem in ultionem stupri.

28 Oves eorum, et armenta, et asinos, cunctaque vastantes quæ in domibus et in agris erant,

29 parvulos quoque eorum et uxores duxerunt captivas.

30 Quibus patratis audacter, Jacob dixit ad Simeon et Levi: Turbastis me, et odiosum fecistis me Chananæis, et Pherezæis habitatoribus terræ hujus: nos pauci sumus; illi congregati percutient me, et delebor ego, et domus mea.

31 Responderunt: Numquid ut scorto abuti debuere sorore nostra?
