1  Now king⁴⁴²⁸ David¹⁷³² was old²²⁰⁴ and stricken⁹³⁵ in years;³¹¹⁷ and they covered³⁶⁸⁰ him with clothes,⁸⁹⁹ but he got no heat.^{3808 3179}

2  Wherefore his servants⁵⁶⁵⁰ said⁵⁵⁹ unto him, Let there be sought¹²⁴⁵ for my lord¹¹³ the king⁴⁴²⁸ a young⁵²⁹¹ virgin:¹³³⁰ and let her stand⁵⁹⁷⁵ before⁶⁴⁴⁰ the king,⁴⁴²⁸ and let her cherish⁵⁵³² him, and let her lie⁷⁹⁰¹ in thy bosom,²⁴³⁶ that my lord¹¹³ the king⁴⁴²⁸ may get heat.²⁵⁵²

3  So they sought¹²⁴⁵ for a fair³³⁰³ damsel⁵²⁹¹ throughout all³⁶⁰⁵ the coasts¹³⁶⁶ of Israel,³⁴⁷⁸ and found^{4672 853} Abishag⁴⁹ a Shunammite,⁷⁷⁶⁷ and brought⁹³⁵ her to the king.⁴⁴²⁸

4  And the damsel⁵²⁹¹ was very^{5704 3966} fair,³³⁰³ and cherished⁵⁵³² the king,⁴⁴²⁸ and ministered⁸³³⁴ to him: but the king⁴⁴²⁸ knew³⁰⁴⁵ her not.³⁸⁰⁸

5  Then Adonijah¹³⁸ the son¹¹²¹ of Haggith²²⁹⁴ exalted himself,⁴⁹⁸⁴ saying,⁵⁵⁹ I⁵⁸⁹ will be king:⁴⁴²⁷ and he prepared⁶²¹³ him chariots⁷³⁹³ and horsemen,⁶⁵⁷¹ and fifty²⁵⁷² men³⁷⁶ to run⁷³²³ before⁶⁴⁴⁰ him.

6  And his father¹ had not³⁸⁰⁸ displeased⁶⁰⁸⁷ him at any time^{4480 3117} in saying,⁵⁵⁹ Why⁴⁰⁶⁹ hast thou done⁶²¹³ so?³⁶⁰² and he¹⁹³¹ also¹⁵⁷¹ was a very³⁹⁶⁶ goodly^{2896 8389} man; and his mother bore³²⁰⁵ him after³¹⁰ Absalom.⁵³

7  And he conferred¹⁶⁹⁷ with⁵⁹⁷³ Joab³⁰⁹⁷ the son¹¹²¹ of Zeruiah,⁶⁸⁷⁰ and with⁵⁹⁷³ Abiathar⁵⁴ the priest:³⁵⁴⁸ and they following³¹⁰ Adonijah¹³⁸ helped⁵⁸²⁶ him.

8  But Zadok⁶⁶⁵⁹ the priest,³⁵⁴⁸ and Benaiah¹¹⁴¹ the son¹¹²¹ of Jehoiada,³⁰⁷⁷ and Nathan⁵⁴¹⁶ the prophet,⁵⁰³⁰ and Shimei,⁸⁰⁹⁶ and Rei,⁷⁴⁷² and the mighty men¹³⁶⁸ which⁸³⁴ belonged to David,¹⁷³² were¹⁹⁶¹ not³⁸⁰⁸ with⁵⁹⁷³ Adonijah.¹³⁸

9  And Adonijah¹³⁸ slew²⁰⁷⁶ sheep⁶⁶²⁹ and oxen¹²⁴¹ and fat cattle⁴⁸⁰⁶ by⁵⁹⁷³ the stone⁶⁸ of Zoheleth,²¹²⁰ which⁸³⁴ is by⁶⁸¹ En-rogel,⁵⁸⁸³ and called^{7121 853} all³⁶⁰⁵ his brethren²⁵¹ the king's⁴⁴²⁸ sons,¹¹²¹ and all³⁶⁰⁵ the men³⁷⁶ of Judah³⁰⁶³ the king's⁴⁴²⁸ servants:⁵⁶⁵⁰

10  But Nathan⁵⁴¹⁶ the prophet,⁵⁰³⁰ and Benaiah,¹¹⁴¹ and the mighty men,¹³⁶⁸ and Solomon⁸⁰¹⁰ his brother,²⁵¹ he called⁷¹²¹ not.³⁸⁰⁸

11  Wherefore Nathan⁵⁴¹⁶ spoke⁵⁵⁹ unto⁴¹³ Bath-sheba¹³³⁹ the mother⁵¹⁷ of Solomon,⁸⁰¹⁰ saying,⁵⁵⁹ Hast thou not³⁸⁰⁸ heard⁸⁰⁸⁵ that³⁵⁸⁸ Adonijah¹³⁸ the son¹¹²¹ of Haggith²²⁹⁴ doth reign,⁴⁴²⁷ and David¹⁷³² our lord¹¹³ knoweth³⁰⁴⁵ it not?³⁸⁰⁸

12  Now⁶²⁵⁸ therefore come,¹⁹⁸⁰ let me, I pray thee,⁴⁹⁹⁴ give³²⁸⁹ thee counsel,⁶⁰⁹⁸ that thou mayest save^{4422 853} thine own life,⁵³¹⁵ and the life⁵³¹⁵ of thy son¹¹²¹ Solomon.⁸⁰¹⁰

13  Go¹⁹⁸⁰ and get thee in⁹³⁵ unto⁴¹³ king⁴⁴²⁸ David,¹⁷³² and say⁵⁵⁹ unto⁴¹³ him, Didst not³⁸⁰⁸ thou,⁸⁵⁹ my lord,¹¹³ O king,⁴⁴²⁸ swear⁷⁶⁵⁰ unto thine handmaid,⁵¹⁹ saying,⁵⁵⁹ Assuredly³⁵⁸⁸ Solomon⁸⁰¹⁰ thy son¹¹²¹ shall reign⁴⁴²⁷ after³¹⁰ me, and he¹⁹³¹ shall sit³⁴²⁷ upon⁵⁹²¹ my throne?³⁶⁷⁸ why⁴⁰⁶⁹ then doth Adonijah¹³⁸ reign?⁴⁴²⁷

14  Behold,²⁰⁰⁹ while thou yet⁵⁷⁵⁰ talkest¹⁶⁹⁶ there⁸⁰³³ with⁵⁹⁷³ the king,⁴⁴²⁸ I⁵⁸⁹ also will come in⁹³⁵ after³¹⁰ thee, and confirm^{4390 853} thy words.¹⁶⁹⁷

15  And Bath-sheba¹³³⁹ went in⁹³⁵ unto⁴¹³ the king⁴⁴²⁸ into the chamber:²³¹⁵ and the king⁴⁴²⁸ was very³⁹⁶⁶ old;²²⁰⁴ and Abishag⁴⁹ the Shunammite⁷⁷⁶⁷ ministered unto^{8334 853} the king.⁴⁴²⁸

16  And Bath-sheba¹³³⁹ bowed,⁶⁹¹⁵ and did obeisance⁷⁸¹² unto the king.⁴⁴²⁸ And the king⁴⁴²⁸ said,⁵⁵⁹ What⁴¹⁰⁰ wouldest thou?

17  And she said⁵⁵⁹ unto him, My lord,¹¹³ thou⁸⁵⁹ swarest⁷⁶⁵⁰ by the LORD³⁰⁶⁸ thy God⁴³⁰ unto thine handmaid,⁵¹⁹ saying, Assuredly³⁵⁸⁸ Solomon⁸⁰¹⁰ thy son¹¹²¹ shall reign⁴⁴²⁷ after³¹⁰ me, and he¹⁹³¹ shall sit³⁴²⁷ upon⁵⁹²¹ my throne.³⁶⁷⁸

18  And now,⁶²⁵⁸ behold,²⁰⁰⁹ Adonijah¹³⁸ reigneth;⁴⁴²⁷ and now,⁶²⁵⁸ my lord¹¹³ the king,⁴⁴²⁸ thou knowest³⁰⁴⁵ it not:³⁸⁰⁸

19  And he hath slain²⁰⁷⁶ oxen⁷⁷⁹⁴ and fat cattle⁴⁸⁰⁶ and sheep⁶⁶²⁹ in abundance,⁷²³⁰ and hath called⁷¹²¹ all³⁶⁰⁵ the sons¹¹²¹ of the king,⁴⁴²⁸ and Abiathar⁵⁴ the priest,³⁵⁴⁸ and Joab³⁰⁹⁷ the captain⁸²⁶⁹ of the host:⁶⁶³⁵ but Solomon⁸⁰¹⁰ thy servant⁵⁶⁵⁰ hath he not³⁸⁰⁸ called.⁷¹²¹

20  And thou,⁸⁵⁹ my lord,¹¹³ O king,⁴⁴²⁸ the eyes⁵⁸⁶⁹ of all³⁶⁰⁵ Israel³⁴⁷⁸ are upon⁵⁹²¹ thee, that thou shouldest tell⁵⁰⁴⁶ them who⁴³¹⁰ shall sit³⁴²⁷ on⁵⁹²¹ the throne³⁶⁷⁸ of my lord¹¹³ the king⁴⁴²⁸ after³¹⁰ him.

21  Otherwise it shall come to pass,¹⁹⁶¹ when my lord¹¹³ the king⁴⁴²⁸ shall sleep⁷⁹⁰¹ with⁵⁹⁷³ his fathers,¹ that I⁵⁸⁹ and my son¹¹²¹ Solomon⁸⁰¹⁰ shall be counted¹⁹⁶¹ offenders.²⁴⁰⁰

22  And, lo,²⁰⁰⁹ while she yet⁵⁷⁵⁰ talked¹⁶⁹⁶ with⁵⁹⁷³ the king,⁴⁴²⁸ Nathan⁵⁴¹⁶ the prophet⁵⁰³⁰ also came in.⁹³⁵

23  And they told⁵⁰⁴⁶ the king,⁴⁴²⁸ saying,⁵⁵⁹ Behold²⁰⁰⁹ Nathan⁵⁴¹⁶ the prophet.⁵⁰³⁰ And when he was come in⁹³⁵ before⁶⁴⁴⁰ the king,⁴⁴²⁸ he bowed himself⁷⁸¹² before the king⁴⁴²⁸ with⁵⁹²¹ his face⁶³⁹ to the ground.⁷⁷⁶

24  And Nathan⁵⁴¹⁶ said,⁵⁵⁹ My lord,¹¹³ O king,⁴⁴²⁸ hast thou⁸⁵⁹ said,⁵⁵⁹ Adonijah¹³⁸ shall reign⁴⁴²⁷ after³¹⁰ me, and he¹⁹³¹ shall sit³⁴²⁷ upon⁵⁹²¹ my throne?³⁶⁷⁸

25  For³⁵⁸⁸ he is gone down³³⁸¹ this day,³¹¹⁷ and hath slain²⁰⁷⁶ oxen⁷⁷⁹⁴ and fat cattle⁴⁸⁰⁶ and sheep⁶⁶²⁹ in abundance,⁷²³⁰ and hath called⁷¹²¹ all³⁶⁰⁵ the king's⁴⁴²⁸ sons,¹¹²¹ and the captains⁸²⁶⁹ of the host,⁶⁶³⁵ and Abiathar⁵⁴ the priest;³⁵⁴⁸ and, behold,²⁰⁰⁹ they eat³⁹⁸ and drink⁸³⁵⁴ before⁶⁴⁴⁰ him, and say,⁵⁵⁹ God save²⁴²¹ king⁴⁴²⁸ Adonijah.¹³⁸

26  But me, even me⁵⁸⁹ thy servant,⁵⁶⁵⁰ and Zadok⁶⁶⁵⁹ the priest,³⁵⁴⁸ and Benaiah¹¹⁴¹ the son¹¹²¹ of Jehoiada,³⁰⁷⁷ and thy servant⁵⁶⁵⁰ Solomon,⁸⁰¹⁰ hath he not³⁸⁰⁸ called.⁷¹²¹

27  Is this²⁰⁸⁸ thing¹⁶⁹⁷ done¹⁹⁶¹ by^{4480 854} my lord¹¹³ the king,⁴⁴²⁸ and thou hast not³⁸⁰⁸ showed it unto^{3045 853} thy servant,⁵⁶⁵⁰ who⁴³¹⁰ should sit³⁴²⁷ on⁵⁹²¹ the throne³⁶⁷⁸ of my lord¹¹³ the king⁴⁴²⁸ after³¹⁰ him?

28  Then king⁴⁴²⁸ David¹⁷³² answered⁶⁰³⁰ and said,⁵⁵⁹ Call⁷¹²¹ me Bath-sheba.¹³³⁹ And she came into⁹³⁵ the king's⁴⁴²⁸ presence,⁶⁴⁴⁰ and stood⁵⁹⁷⁵ before⁶⁴⁴⁰ the king.⁴⁴²⁸

29  And the king⁴⁴²⁸ swore,⁷⁶⁵⁰ and said,⁵⁵⁹ As the LORD³⁰⁶⁸ liveth,²⁴¹⁶ that⁸³⁴ hath redeemed^{6299 853} my soul⁵³¹⁵ out of all^{4480 3605} distress,⁶⁸⁶⁹

30  Even³⁵⁸⁸ as⁸³⁴ I swore⁷⁶⁵⁰ unto thee by the LORD³⁰⁶⁸ God⁴³⁰ of Israel,³⁴⁷⁸ saying,⁵⁵⁹ Assuredly³⁵⁸⁸ Solomon⁸⁰¹⁰ thy son¹¹²¹ shall reign⁴⁴²⁷ after³¹⁰ me, and he¹⁹³¹ shall sit³⁴²⁷ upon⁵⁹²¹ my throne³⁶⁷⁸ in my stead;⁸⁴⁷⁸ even³⁵⁸⁸ so³⁶⁵¹ will I certainly do⁶²¹³ this²⁰⁸⁸ day.³¹¹⁷

31  Then Bath-sheba¹³³⁹ bowed⁶⁹¹⁵ with her face⁶³⁹ to the earth,⁷⁷⁶ and did reverence⁷⁸¹² to the king,⁴⁴²⁸ and said,⁵⁵⁹ Let my lord¹¹³ king⁴⁴²⁸ David¹⁷³² live²⁴²¹ forever.⁵⁷⁶⁹

32  And king⁴⁴²⁸ David¹⁷³² said,⁵⁵⁹ Call⁷¹²¹ me Zadok⁶⁶⁵⁹ the priest,³⁵⁴⁸ and Nathan⁵⁴¹⁶ the prophet,⁵⁰³⁰ and Benaiah¹¹⁴¹ the son¹¹²¹ of Jehoiada.³⁰⁷⁷ And they came⁹³⁵ before⁶⁴⁴⁰ the king.⁴⁴²⁸

33  The king⁴⁴²⁸ also said⁵⁵⁹ unto them, Take³⁹⁴⁷ with⁵⁹⁷³ you ⁸⁵³ the servants⁵⁶⁵⁰ of your lord,¹¹³ and cause ⁸⁵³ Solomon⁸⁰¹⁰ my son¹¹²¹ to ride⁷³⁹² upon⁵⁹²¹ mine own mule,⁶⁵⁰⁶ and bring him down^{3381 853} to⁴¹³ Gihon:¹⁵²¹

34  And let Zadok⁶⁶⁵⁹ the priest³⁵⁴⁸ and Nathan⁵⁴¹⁶ the prophet⁵⁰³⁰ anoint⁴⁸⁸⁶ him there⁸⁰³³ king⁴⁴²⁸ over⁵⁹²¹ Israel:³⁴⁷⁸ and blow⁸⁶²⁸ ye with the trumpet,⁷⁷⁸² and say,⁵⁵⁹ God save²⁴²¹ king⁴⁴²⁸ Solomon.⁸⁰¹⁰

35  Then ye shall come up⁵⁹²⁷ after³¹⁰ him, that he may come⁹³⁵ and sit³⁴²⁷ upon⁵⁹²¹ my throne;³⁶⁷⁸ for he¹⁹³¹ shall be king⁴⁴²⁷ in my stead:⁸⁴⁷⁸ and I have appointed⁶⁶⁸⁰ him to be¹⁹⁶¹ ruler⁵⁰⁵⁷ over⁵⁹²¹ Israel³⁴⁷⁸ and over⁵⁹²¹ Judah.³⁰⁶³

36  And Benaiah¹¹⁴¹ the son¹¹²¹ of Jehoiada³⁰⁷⁷ answered^{6030 853} the king,⁴⁴²⁸ and said,⁵⁵⁹ Amen:⁵⁴³ the LORD³⁰⁶⁸ God⁴³⁰ of my lord¹¹³ the king⁴⁴²⁸ say⁵⁵⁹ so³⁶⁵¹ too.

37  As⁸³⁴ the LORD³⁰⁶⁸ hath been¹⁹⁶¹ with⁵⁹⁷³ my lord¹¹³ the king,⁴⁴²⁸ even so³⁶⁵¹ be¹⁹⁶¹ he with⁵⁹⁷³ Solomon,⁸⁰¹⁰ and make his throne greater^{1431 853 3678} than the throne^{4480 3678} of my lord¹¹³ king⁴⁴²⁸ David.¹⁷³²

38  So Zadok⁶⁶⁵⁹ the priest,³⁵⁴⁸ and Nathan⁵⁴¹⁶ the prophet,⁵⁰³⁰ and Benaiah¹¹⁴¹ the son¹¹²¹ of Jehoiada,³⁰⁷⁷ and the Cherethites,³⁷⁷⁴ and the Pelethites,⁶⁴³² went down,³³⁸¹ and caused ⁸⁵³ Solomon⁸⁰¹⁰ to ride⁷³⁹² upon⁵⁹²¹ king⁴⁴²⁸ David's¹⁷³² mule,⁶⁵⁰⁶ and brought¹⁹⁸⁰ him to⁵⁹²¹ Gihon.¹⁵²¹

39  And Zadok⁶⁶⁵⁹ the priest³⁵⁴⁸ took^{3947 853} a horn⁷¹⁶¹ of oil⁸⁰⁸¹ out of⁴⁴⁸⁰ the tabernacle,¹⁶⁸ and anointed^{4886 853} Solomon.⁸⁰¹⁰ And they blew⁸⁶²⁸ the trumpet;⁷⁷⁸² and all³⁶⁰⁵ the people⁵⁹⁷¹ said,⁵⁵⁹ God save²⁴²¹ king⁴⁴²⁸ Solomon.⁸⁰¹⁰

40  And all³⁶⁰⁵ the people⁵⁹⁷¹ came up⁵⁹²⁷ after³¹⁰ him, and the people⁵⁹⁷¹ piped²⁴⁹⁰ with pipes,²⁴⁸⁵ and rejoiced⁸⁰⁵⁶ with great¹⁴¹⁹ joy,⁸⁰⁵⁷ so that the earth⁷⁷⁶ rent¹²³⁴ with the sound⁶⁹⁶³ of them.

41  And Adonijah¹³⁸ and all³⁶⁰⁵ the guests⁷¹²¹ that⁸³⁴ were with⁸⁵⁴ him heard⁸⁰⁸⁵ it as they¹⁹⁹² had made an end³⁶¹⁵ of eating.³⁹⁸ And when Joab³⁰⁹⁷ heard^{8085 853} the sound⁶⁹⁶³ of the trumpet,⁷⁷⁸² he said,⁵⁵⁹ Wherefore⁴⁰⁶⁹ is this noise⁶⁹⁶³ of the city⁷¹⁵¹ being in an uproar?¹⁹⁹³

42  And while he yet⁵⁷⁵⁰ spoke,¹⁶⁹⁶ behold,²⁰⁰⁹ Jonathan³¹²⁹ the son¹¹²¹ of Abiathar⁵⁴ the priest³⁵⁴⁸ came:⁹³⁵ and Adonijah¹³⁸ said⁵⁵⁹ unto him, Come in;⁹³⁵ for³⁵⁸⁸ thou⁸⁵⁹ art a valiant²⁴²⁸ man,³⁷⁶ and bringest good tidings.^{2896 1319}

43  And Jonathan³¹²⁹ answered⁶⁰³⁰ and said⁵⁵⁹ to Adonijah,¹³⁸ Verily⁶¹ our lord¹¹³ king⁴⁴²⁸ David¹⁷³² hath made Solomon king.^{4427 853 8010}

44  And the king⁴⁴²⁸ hath sent⁷⁹⁷¹ with⁸⁵⁴ him ⁸⁵³ Zadok⁶⁶⁵⁹ the priest,³⁵⁴⁸ and Nathan⁵⁴¹⁶ the prophet,⁵⁰³⁰ and Benaiah¹¹⁴¹ the son¹¹²¹ of Jehoiada,³⁰⁷⁷ and the Cherethites,³⁷⁷⁴ and the Pelethites,⁶⁴³² and they have caused him to ride^{7392 853} upon⁵⁹²¹ the king's⁴⁴²⁸ mule:⁶⁵⁰⁶

45  And Zadok⁶⁶⁵⁹ the priest³⁵⁴⁸ and Nathan⁵⁴¹⁶ the prophet⁵⁰³⁰ have anointed⁴⁸⁸⁶ him king⁴⁴²⁸ in Gihon:¹⁵²¹ and they are come up⁵⁹²⁷ from thence^{4480 8033} rejoicing,⁸⁰⁵⁶ so that the city⁷¹⁵¹ rang¹⁹⁴⁹ again. This¹⁹³¹ is the noise⁶⁹⁶³ that⁸³⁴ ye have heard.⁸⁰⁸⁵

46  And also¹⁵⁷¹ Solomon⁸⁰¹⁰ sitteth³⁴²⁷ on⁵⁹²¹ the throne³⁶⁷⁸ of the kingdom.⁴⁴¹⁰

47  And moreover¹⁵⁷¹ the king's⁴⁴²⁸ servants⁵⁶⁵⁰ came⁹³⁵ to bless^{1288 853} our lord¹¹³ king⁴⁴²⁸ David,¹⁷³² saying,⁵⁵⁹ God⁴³⁰ make ⁸⁵³ the name⁸⁰³⁴ of Solomon⁸⁰¹⁰ better³¹⁹⁰ than thy name,^{4480 8034} and make ⁸⁵³ his throne³⁶⁷⁸ greater¹⁴³¹ than thy throne.^{4480 3678} And the king⁴⁴²⁸ bowed himself⁷⁸¹² upon⁵⁹²¹ the bed.⁴⁹⁰⁴

48  And also¹⁵⁷¹ thus³⁶⁰² said⁵⁵⁹ the king,⁴⁴²⁸ Blessed¹²⁸⁸ be the LORD³⁰⁶⁸ God⁴³⁰ of Israel,³⁴⁷⁸ which⁸³⁴ hath given⁵⁴¹⁴ one to sit³⁴²⁷ on⁵⁹²¹ my throne³⁶⁷⁸ this day,³¹¹⁷ mine eyes⁵⁸⁶⁹ even seeing⁷²⁰⁰ it.

49  And all³⁶⁰⁵ the guests⁷¹²¹ that⁸³⁴ were with Adonijah¹³⁸ were afraid,²⁷²⁹ and rose up,⁶⁹⁶⁵ and went¹⁹⁸⁰ every man³⁷⁶ his way.¹⁸⁷⁰

50  And Adonijah¹³⁸ feared³³⁷² because^{4480 6440} of Solomon,⁸⁰¹⁰ and arose,⁶⁹⁶⁵ and went,¹⁹⁸⁰ and caught hold²³⁸⁸ on the horns⁷¹⁶¹ of the altar.⁴¹⁹⁶

51  And it was told⁵⁰⁴⁶ Solomon,⁸⁰¹⁰ saying,⁵⁵⁹ Behold,²⁰⁰⁹ Adonijah¹³⁸ feareth^{3372 853} king⁴⁴²⁸ Solomon:⁸⁰¹⁰ for, lo,²⁰⁰⁹ he hath caught hold²⁷⁰ on the horns⁷¹⁶¹ of the altar,⁴¹⁹⁶ saying,⁵⁵⁹ Let king⁴⁴²⁸ Solomon⁸⁰¹⁰ swear⁷⁶⁵⁰ unto me today³¹¹⁷ that he will not⁵¹⁸ slay^{4191 853} his servant⁵⁶⁵⁰ with the sword.²⁷¹⁹

52  And Solomon⁸⁰¹⁰ said,⁵⁵⁹ If⁵¹⁸ he will show¹⁹⁶¹ himself a worthy²⁴²⁸ man,¹¹²¹ there shall not³⁸⁰⁸ a hair of^{4480 8183} him fall⁵³⁰⁷ to the earth:⁷⁷⁶ but if⁵¹⁸ wickedness⁷⁴⁵¹ shall be found⁴⁶⁷² in him, he shall die.⁴¹⁹¹

53  So king⁴⁴²⁸ Solomon⁸⁰¹⁰ sent,⁷⁹⁷¹ and they brought him down³³⁸¹ from^{4480 5921} the altar.⁴¹⁹⁶ And he came⁹³⁵ and bowed himself⁷⁸¹² to king⁴⁴²⁸ Solomon:⁸⁰¹⁰ and Solomon⁸⁰¹⁰ said⁵⁵⁹ unto him, Go¹⁹⁸⁰ to thine house.¹⁰⁰⁴

1 καὶ ὁ βασιλεὺς Δαυιδ πρεσβύτερος προβεβηκὼς ἡμέραις καὶ περιέβαλλον αὐτὸν ἱματίοις καὶ οὐκ ἐθερμαίνετο

2 καὶ εἶπον οἱ παῖδες αὐτοῦ ζητησάτωσαν τῷ κυρίῳ ἡμῶν τῷ βασιλεῖ παρθένον νεάνιδα καὶ παραστήσεται τῷ βασιλεῖ καὶ ἔσται αὐτὸν θάλπουσα καὶ κοιμηθήσεται μετ᾽ αὐτοῦ καὶ θερμανθήσεται ὁ κύριος ἡμῶν ὁ βασιλεύς

3 καὶ ἐζήτησαν νεάνιδα καλὴν ἐκ παντὸς ὁρίου Ισραηλ καὶ εὗρον τὴν Αβισακ τὴν Σωμανῖτιν καὶ ἤνεγκαν αὐτὴν πρὸς τὸν βασιλέα

4 καὶ ἡ νεᾶνις καλὴ ἕως σφόδρα καὶ ἦν θάλπουσα τὸν βασιλέα καὶ ἐλειτούργει αὐτῷ καὶ ὁ βασιλεὺς οὐκ ἔγνω αὐτήν

5 καὶ Αδωνιας υἱὸς Αγγιθ ἐπῄρετο λέγων ἐγὼ βασιλεύσω καὶ ἐποίησεν ἑαυτῷ ἅρματα καὶ ἱππεῖς καὶ πεντήκοντα ἄνδρας παρατρέχειν ἔμπροσθεν αὐτοῦ

6 καὶ οὐκ ἀπεκώλυσεν αὐτὸν ὁ πατὴρ αὐτοῦ οὐδέποτε λέγων διὰ τί σὺ ἐποίησας καί γε αὐτὸς ὡραῖος τῇ ὄψει σφόδρα καὶ αὐτὸν ἔτεκεν ὀπίσω Αβεσσαλωμ

7 καὶ ἐγένοντο οἱ λόγοι αὐτοῦ μετὰ Ιωαβ τοῦ υἱοῦ Σαρουιας καὶ μετὰ Αβιαθαρ τοῦ ἱερέως καὶ ἐβοήθουν ὀπίσω Αδωνιου

8 καὶ Σαδωκ ὁ ἱερεὺς καὶ Βαναιας υἱὸς Ιωδαε καὶ Ναθαν ὁ προφήτης καὶ Σεμεϊ καὶ Ρηι καὶ οἱ δυνατοὶ τοῦ Δαυιδ οὐκ ἦσαν ὀπίσω Αδωνιου

9 καὶ ἐθυσίασεν Αδωνιας πρόβατα καὶ μόσχους καὶ ἄρνας μετὰ λίθου τοῦ Ζωελεθ ὃς ἦν ἐχόμενα τῆς πηγῆς Ρωγηλ καὶ ἐκάλεσεν πάντας τοὺς ἀδελφοὺς αὐτοῦ καὶ πάντας τοὺς ἁδροὺς Ιουδα παῖδας τοῦ βασιλέως

10 καὶ τὸν Ναθαν τὸν προφήτην καὶ Βαναιαν καὶ τοὺς δυνατοὺς καὶ τὸν Σαλωμων ἀδελφὸν αὐτοῦ οὐκ ἐκάλεσεν

11 καὶ εἶπεν Ναθαν πρὸς Βηρσαβεε μητέρα Σαλωμων λέγων οὐκ ἤκουσας ὅτι ἐβασίλευσεν Αδωνιας υἱὸς Αγγιθ καὶ ὁ κύριος ἡμῶν Δαυιδ οὐκ ἔγνω

12 καὶ νῦν δεῦρο συμβουλεύσω σοι δὴ συμβουλίαν καὶ ἐξελοῦ τὴν ψυχήν σου καὶ τὴν ψυχὴν τοῦ υἱοῦ σου Σαλωμων

13 δεῦρο εἴσελθε πρὸς τὸν βασιλέα Δαυιδ καὶ ἐρεῖς πρὸς αὐτὸν λέγουσα οὐχὶ σύ κύριέ μου βασιλεῦ ὤμοσας τῇ δούλῃ σου λέγων ὅτι Σαλωμων ὁ υἱός σου βασιλεύσει μετ᾽ ἐμὲ καὶ αὐτὸς καθιεῖται ἐπὶ τοῦ θρόνου μου καὶ τί ὅτι ἐβασίλευσεν Αδωνιας

14 καὶ ἰδοὺ ἔτι λαλούσης σου ἐκεῖ μετὰ τοῦ βασιλέως καὶ ἐγὼ εἰσελεύσομαι ὀπίσω σου καὶ πληρώσω τοὺς λόγους σου

15 καὶ εἰσῆλθεν Βηρσαβεε πρὸς τὸν βασιλέα εἰς τὸ ταμίειον καὶ ὁ βασιλεὺς πρεσβύτης σφόδρα καὶ Αβισακ ἡ Σωμανῖτις ἦν λειτουργοῦσα τῷ βασιλεῖ

16 καὶ ἔκυψεν Βηρσαβεε καὶ προσεκύνησεν τῷ βασιλεῖ καὶ εἶπεν ὁ βασιλεύς τί ἐστίν σοι

17 ἡ δὲ εἶπεν κύριέ μου βασιλεῦ σὺ ὤμοσας ἐν κυρίῳ τῷ θεῷ σου τῇ δούλῃ σου λέγων ὅτι Σαλωμων ὁ υἱός σου βασιλεύσει μετ᾽ ἐμὲ καὶ αὐτὸς καθήσεται ἐπὶ τοῦ θρόνου μου

18 καὶ νῦν ἰδοὺ Αδωνιας ἐβασίλευσεν καὶ σύ κύριέ μου βασιλεῦ οὐκ ἔγνως

19 καὶ ἐθυσίασεν μόσχους καὶ ἄρνας καὶ πρόβατα εἰς πλῆθος καὶ ἐκάλεσεν πάντας τοὺς υἱοὺς τοῦ βασιλέως καὶ Αβιαθαρ τὸν ἱερέα καὶ Ιωαβ τὸν ἄρχοντα τῆς δυνάμεως καὶ τὸν Σαλωμων τὸν δοῦλόν σου οὐκ ἐκάλεσεν

20 καὶ σύ κύριέ μου βασιλεῦ οἱ ὀφθαλμοὶ παντὸς Ισραηλ πρὸς σὲ ἀπαγγεῖλαι αὐτοῖς τίς καθήσεται ἐπὶ τοῦ θρόνου τοῦ κυρίου μου τοῦ βασιλέως μετ᾽ αὐτόν

21 καὶ ἔσται ὡς ἂν κοιμηθῇ ὁ κύριός μου ὁ βασιλεὺς μετὰ τῶν πατέρων αὐτοῦ καὶ ἔσομαι ἐγὼ καὶ ὁ υἱός μου Σαλωμων ἁμαρτωλοί

22 καὶ ἰδοὺ ἔτι αὐτῆς λαλούσης μετὰ τοῦ βασιλέως καὶ Ναθαν ὁ προφήτης ἦλθεν

23 καὶ ἀνηγγέλη τῷ βασιλεῖ ἰδοὺ Ναθαν ὁ προφήτης καὶ εἰσῆλθεν κατὰ πρόσωπον τοῦ βασιλέως καὶ προσεκύνησεν τῷ βασιλεῖ κατὰ πρόσωπον αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν

24 καὶ εἶπεν Ναθαν κύριέ μου βασιλεῦ σὺ εἶπας Αδωνιας βασιλεύσει ὀπίσω μου καὶ αὐτὸς καθήσεται ἐπὶ τοῦ θρόνου μου

25 ὅτι κατέβη σήμερον καὶ ἐθυσίασεν μόσχους καὶ ἄρνας καὶ πρόβατα εἰς πλῆθος καὶ ἐκάλεσεν πάντας τοὺς υἱοὺς τοῦ βασιλέως καὶ τοὺς ἄρχοντας τῆς δυνάμεως καὶ Αβιαθαρ τὸν ἱερέα καὶ ἰδού εἰσιν ἐσθίοντες καὶ πίνοντες ἐνώπιον αὐτοῦ καὶ εἶπαν ζήτω ὁ βασιλεὺς Αδωνιας

26 καὶ ἐμὲ αὐτὸν τὸν δοῦλόν σου καὶ Σαδωκ τὸν ἱερέα καὶ Βαναιαν υἱὸν Ιωδαε καὶ Σαλωμων τὸν δοῦλόν σου οὐκ ἐκάλεσεν

27 εἰ διὰ τοῦ κυρίου μου τοῦ βασιλέως γέγονεν τὸ ῥῆμα τοῦτο καὶ οὐκ ἐγνώρισας τῷ δούλῳ σου τίς καθήσεται ἐπὶ τὸν θρόνον τοῦ κυρίου μου τοῦ βασιλέως μετ᾽ αὐτόν

28 καὶ ἀπεκρίθη Δαυιδ καὶ εἶπεν καλέσατέ μοι τὴν Βηρσαβεε καὶ εἰσῆλθεν ἐνώπιον τοῦ βασιλέως καὶ ἔστη ἐνώπιον αὐτοῦ

29 καὶ ὤμοσεν ὁ βασιλεὺς καὶ εἶπεν ζῇ κύριος ὃς ἐλυτρώσατο τὴν ψυχήν μου ἐκ πάσης θλίψεως

30 ὅτι καθὼς ὤμοσά σοι ἐν κυρίῳ τῷ θεῷ Ισραηλ λέγων ὅτι Σαλωμων ὁ υἱός σου βασιλεύσει μετ᾽ ἐμὲ καὶ αὐτὸς καθήσεται ἐπὶ τοῦ θρόνου μου ἀντ᾽ ἐμοῦ ὅτι οὕτως ποιήσω τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ταύτῃ

31 καὶ ἔκυψεν Βηρσαβεε ἐπὶ πρόσωπον ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν καὶ προσεκύνησεν τῷ βασιλεῖ καὶ εἶπεν ζήτω ὁ κύριός μου ὁ βασιλεὺς Δαυιδ εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα

32 καὶ εἶπεν ὁ βασιλεὺς Δαυιδ καλέσατέ μοι Σαδωκ τὸν ἱερέα καὶ Ναθαν τὸν προφήτην καὶ Βαναιαν υἱὸν Ιωδαε καὶ εἰσῆλθον ἐνώπιον τοῦ βασιλέως

33 καὶ εἶπεν ὁ βασιλεὺς αὐτοῖς λάβετε τοὺς δούλους τοῦ κυρίου ὑμῶν μεθ᾽ ὑμῶν καὶ ἐπιβιβάσατε τὸν υἱόν μου Σαλωμων ἐπὶ τὴν ἡμίονον τὴν ἐμὴν καὶ καταγάγετε αὐτὸν εἰς τὸν Γιων

34 καὶ χρισάτω αὐτὸν ἐκεῖ Σαδωκ ὁ ἱερεὺς καὶ Ναθαν ὁ προφήτης εἰς βασιλέα ἐπὶ Ισραηλ καὶ σαλπίσατε κερατίνῃ καὶ ἐρεῖτε ζήτω ὁ βασιλεὺς Σαλωμων

35 καὶ καθήσεται ἐπὶ τοῦ θρόνου μου καὶ αὐτὸς βασιλεύσει ἀντ᾽ ἐμοῦ καὶ ἐγὼ ἐνετειλάμην τοῦ εἶναι εἰς ἡγούμενον ἐπὶ Ισραηλ καὶ Ιουδα

36 καὶ ἀπεκρίθη Βαναιας υἱὸς Ιωδαε τῷ βασιλεῖ καὶ εἶπεν γένοιτο οὕτως πιστώσαι κύριος ὁ θεὸς τοῦ κυρίου μου τοῦ βασιλέως

37 καθὼς ἦν κύριος μετὰ τοῦ κυρίου μου τοῦ βασιλέως οὕτως εἴη μετὰ Σαλωμων καὶ μεγαλύναι τὸν θρόνον αὐτοῦ ὑπὲρ τὸν θρόνον τοῦ κυρίου μου τοῦ βασιλέως Δαυιδ

38 καὶ κατέβη Σαδωκ ὁ ἱερεὺς καὶ Ναθαν ὁ προφήτης καὶ Βαναιας υἱὸς Ιωδαε καὶ ὁ χερεθθι καὶ ὁ φελεθθι καὶ ἐπεκάθισαν τὸν Σαλωμων ἐπὶ τὴν ἡμίονον τοῦ βασιλέως Δαυιδ καὶ ἀπήγαγον αὐτὸν εἰς τὸν Γιων

39 καὶ ἔλαβεν Σαδωκ ὁ ἱερεὺς τὸ κέρας τοῦ ἐλαίου ἐκ τῆς σκηνῆς καὶ ἔχρισεν τὸν Σαλωμων καὶ ἐσάλπισεν τῇ κερατίνῃ καὶ εἶπεν πᾶς ὁ λαός ζήτω ὁ βασιλεὺς Σαλωμων

40 καὶ ἀνέβη πᾶς ὁ λαὸς ὀπίσω αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐχόρευον ἐν χοροῖς καὶ εὐφραινόμενοι εὐφροσύνην μεγάλην καὶ ἐρράγη ἡ γῆ ἐν τῇ φωνῇ αὐτῶν

41 καὶ ἤκουσεν Αδωνιας καὶ πάντες οἱ κλητοὶ αὐτοῦ καὶ αὐτοὶ συνετέλεσαν φαγεῖν καὶ ἤκουσεν Ιωαβ τὴν φωνὴν τῆς κερατίνης καὶ εἶπεν τίς ἡ φωνὴ τῆς πόλεως ἠχούσης

42 ἔτι αὐτοῦ λαλοῦντος καὶ ἰδοὺ Ιωναθαν υἱὸς Αβιαθαρ τοῦ ἱερέως ἦλθεν καὶ εἶπεν Αδωνιας εἴσελθε ὅτι ἀνὴρ δυνάμεως εἶ σύ καὶ ἀγαθὰ εὐαγγέλισαι

43 καὶ ἀπεκρίθη Ιωναθαν καὶ εἶπεν καὶ μάλα ὁ κύριος ἡμῶν ὁ βασιλεὺς Δαυιδ ἐβασίλευσεν τὸν Σαλωμων

44 καὶ ἀπέστειλεν ὁ βασιλεὺς μετ᾽ αὐτοῦ τὸν Σαδωκ τὸν ἱερέα καὶ Ναθαν τὸν προφήτην καὶ Βαναιαν υἱὸν Ιωδαε καὶ τὸν χερεθθι καὶ τὸν φελεθθι καὶ ἐπεκάθισαν αὐτὸν ἐπὶ τὴν ἡμίονον τοῦ βασιλέως

45 καὶ ἔχρισαν αὐτὸν Σαδωκ ὁ ἱερεὺς καὶ Ναθαν ὁ προφήτης εἰς βασιλέα ἐν τῷ Γιων καὶ ἀνέβησαν ἐκεῖθεν εὐφραινόμενοι καὶ ἤχησεν ἡ πόλις αὕτη ἡ φωνή ἣν ἠκούσατε

46 καὶ ἐκάθισεν Σαλωμων ἐπὶ θρόνον τῆς βασιλείας

47 καὶ εἰσῆλθον οἱ δοῦλοι τοῦ βασιλέως εὐλογῆσαι τὸν κύριον ἡμῶν τὸν βασιλέα Δαυιδ λέγοντες ἀγαθύναι ὁ θεὸς τὸ ὄνομα Σαλωμων τοῦ υἱοῦ σου ὑπὲρ τὸ ὄνομά σου καὶ μεγαλύναι τὸν θρόνον αὐτοῦ ὑπὲρ τὸν θρόνον σου καὶ προσεκύνησεν ὁ βασιλεὺς ἐπὶ τὴν κοίτην αὐτοῦ

48 καί γε οὕτως εἶπεν ὁ βασιλεύς εὐλογητὸς κύριος ὁ θεὸς Ισραηλ ὃς ἔδωκεν σήμερον ἐκ τοῦ σπέρματός μου καθήμενον ἐπὶ τοῦ θρόνου μου καὶ οἱ ὀφθαλμοί μου βλέπουσιν

49 καὶ ἐξέστησαν καὶ ἐξανέστησαν πάντες οἱ κλητοὶ τοῦ Αδωνιου καὶ ἀπῆλθον ἀνὴρ εἰς τὴν ὁδὸν αὐτοῦ

50 καὶ Αδωνιας ἐφοβήθη ἀπὸ προσώπου Σαλωμων καὶ ἀνέστη καὶ ἀπῆλθεν καὶ ἐπελάβετο τῶν κεράτων τοῦ θυσιαστηρίου

51 καὶ ἀνηγγέλη τῷ Σαλωμων λέγοντες ἰδοὺ Αδωνιας ἐφοβήθη τὸν βασιλέα Σαλωμων καὶ κατέχει τῶν κεράτων τοῦ θυσιαστηρίου λέγων ὀμοσάτω μοι σήμερον ὁ βασιλεὺς Σαλωμων εἰ οὐ θανατώσει τὸν δοῦλον αὐτοῦ ἐν ῥομφαίᾳ

52 καὶ εἶπεν Σαλωμων ἐὰν γένηται εἰς υἱὸν δυνάμεως εἰ πεσεῖται τῶν τριχῶν αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν καὶ ἐὰν κακία εὑρεθῇ ἐν αὐτῷ θανατωθήσεται

53 καὶ ἀπέστειλεν ὁ βασιλεὺς Σαλωμων καὶ κατήνεγκεν αὐτὸν ἀπάνωθεν τοῦ θυσιαστηρίου καὶ εἰσῆλθεν καὶ προσεκύνησεν τῷ βασιλεῖ Σαλωμων καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ Σαλωμων δεῦρο εἰς τὸν οἶκόν σου

‎3 ‏וַיְבַקְשׁוּ֙ נַעֲרָ֣ה יָפָ֔ה בְּכֹ֖ל גְּב֣וּל יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וַֽיִּמְצְא֗וּ אֶת־אֲבִישַׁג֙ הַשּׁ֣וּנַמִּ֔ית וַיָּבִ֥אוּ אֹתָ֖הּ לַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃

‎4 ‏וְהַֽנַּעֲרָ֖ה יָפָ֣ה עַד־מְאֹ֑ד וַתְּהִ֨י לַמֶּ֤לֶךְ סֹכֶ֙נֶת֙ וַתְּשָׁ֣רְתֵ֔הוּ וְהַמֶּ֖לֶךְ לֹ֥א יְדָעָֽהּ׃

‎5 ‏וַאֲדֹנִיָּ֧ה בֶן־חַגִּ֛ית מִתְנַשֵּׂ֥א לֵאמֹ֖ר אֲנִ֣י אֶמְלֹ֑ךְ וַיַּ֣עַשׂ ל֗וֹ רֶ֚כֶב וּפָ֣רָשִׁ֔ים וַחֲמִשִּׁ֥ים אִ֖ישׁ רָצִ֥ים לְפָנָֽיו׃

‎6 ‏וְלֹֽא־עֲצָב֨וֹ אָבִ֤יו מִיָּמָיו֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר מַדּ֖וּעַ כָּ֣כָה עָשִׂ֑יתָ וְגַם־ה֤וּא טֽוֹב־תֹּ֙אַר֙ מְאֹ֔ד וְאֹת֥וֹ יָלְדָ֖ה אַחֲרֵ֥י אַבְשָׁלֽוֹם׃

‎7 ‏וַיִּהְי֣וּ דְבָרָ֔יו עִ֚ם יוֹאָ֣ב בֶּן־צְרוּיָ֔ה וְעִ֖ם אֶבְיָתָ֣ר הַכֹּהֵ֑ן וַֽיַּעְזְר֔וּ אַחֲרֵ֖י אֲדֹנִיָּֽה׃

‎8 ‏וְצָד֣וֹק הַ֠כֹּהֵן וּבְנָיָ֨הוּ בֶן־יְהוֹיָדָ֜ע וְנָתָ֤ן הַנָּבִיא֙ וְשִׁמְעִ֣י וְרֵעִ֔י וְהַגִּבּוֹרִ֖ים אֲשֶׁ֣ר לְדָוִ֑ד לֹ֥א הָי֖וּ עִם־אֲדֹנִיָּֽהוּ׃

‎9 ‏וַיִּזְבַּ֣ח אֲדֹנִיָּ֗הוּ צֹ֤אן וּבָקָר֙ וּמְרִ֔יא עִ֚ם אֶ֣בֶן הַזֹּחֶ֔לֶת אֲשֶׁר־אֵ֖צֶל עֵ֣ין רֹגֵ֑ל וַיִּקְרָ֗א אֶת־כָּל־אֶחָיו֙ בְּנֵ֣י הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ וּלְכָל־אַנְשֵׁ֥י יְהוּדָ֖ה עַבְדֵ֥י הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃

‎10 ‏וְֽאֶת־נָתָן֩ הַנָּבִ֨יא וּבְנָיָ֜הוּ וְאֶת־הַגִּבּוֹרִ֛ים וְאֶת־שְׁלֹמֹ֥ה אָחִ֖יו לֹ֥א קָרָֽא׃

‎11 ‏וַיֹּ֣אמֶר נָתָ֗ן אֶל־בַּת־שֶׁ֤בַע אֵם־שְׁלֹמֹה֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר הֲל֣וֹא שָׁמַ֔עַתְּ כִּ֥י מָלַ֖ךְ אֲדֹנִיָּ֣הוּ בֶן־חַגִּ֑ית וַאֲדֹנֵ֥ינוּ דָוִ֖ד לֹ֥א יָדָֽע׃

‎12 ‏וְעַתָּ֕ה לְכִ֛י אִיעָצֵ֥ךְ נָ֖א עֵצָ֑ה וּמַלְּטִי֙ אֶת־נַפְשֵׁ֔ךְ וְאֶת־נֶ֥פֶשׁ בְּנֵ֖ךְ שְׁלֹמֹֽה׃

‎13 ‏לְכִ֞י וּבֹ֣אִי׀ אֶל־הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ דָּוִ֗ד וְאָמַ֤רְתְּ אֵלָיו֙ הֲלֹֽא־אַתָּ֞ה אֲדֹנִ֣י הַמֶּ֗לֶךְ נִשְׁבַּ֤עְתָּ לַאֲמָֽתְךָ֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר כִּֽי־שְׁלֹמֹ֤ה בְנֵךְ֙ יִמְלֹ֣ךְ אַחֲרַ֔י וְה֖וּא יֵשֵׁ֣ב עַל־כִּסְאִ֑י וּמַדּ֖וּעַ מָלַ֥ךְ אֲדֹנִיָֽהוּ׃¹

‎14 ‏הִנֵּ֗ה עוֹדָ֛ךְ מְדַבֶּ֥רֶת שָׁ֖ם עִם־הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ וַאֲנִי֙ אָב֣וֹא אַחֲרַ֔יִךְ וּמִלֵּאתִ֖י אֶת־דְּבָרָֽיִךְ׃

‎15 ‏וַתָּבֹ֨א בַת־שֶׁ֤בֶע אֶל־הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ הַחַ֔דְרָה וְהַמֶּ֖לֶךְ זָקֵ֣ן מְאֹ֑ד וַֽאֲבִישַׁג֙ הַשּׁ֣וּנַמִּ֔ית מְשָׁרַ֖ת אֶת־הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃

‎16 ‏וַתִּקֹּ֣ד בַּת־שֶׁ֔בַע וַתִּשְׁתַּ֖חוּ לַמֶּ֑לֶךְ וַיֹּ֥אמֶר הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ מַה־לָּֽךְ׃

‎17 ‏וַתֹּ֣אמֶר ל֗וֹ אֲדֹנִי֙ אַתָּ֨ה נִשְׁבַּ֜עְתָּ בַּֽיהוָ֤ה אֱלֹהֶ֙יךָ֙ לַֽאֲמָתֶ֔ךָ כִּֽי־שְׁלֹמֹ֥ה בְנֵ֖ךְ יִמְלֹ֣ךְ אַחֲרָ֑י וְה֖וּא יֵשֵׁ֥ב עַל־כִּסְאִֽי׃

‎18 ‏וְעַתָּ֕ה הִנֵּ֥ה אֲדֹנִיָּ֖ה מָלָ֑ךְ וְעַתָּ֛ה אֲדֹנִ֥י הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ לֹ֥א יָדָֽעְתָּ׃

‎19 ‏וַ֠יִּזְבַּח שׁ֥וֹר וּֽמְרִיא־וְצֹאן֮ לָרֹב֒ וַיִּקְרָא֙ לְכָל־בְּנֵ֣י הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ וּלְאֶבְיָתָר֙ הַכֹּהֵ֔ן וּלְיֹאָ֖ב שַׂ֣ר הַצָּבָ֑א וְלִשְׁלֹמֹ֥ה עַבְדְּךָ֖ לֹ֥א קָרָֽא׃

‎20 ‏וְאַתָּה֙ אֲדֹנִ֣י הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ עֵינֵ֥י כָל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל עָלֶ֑יךָ לְהַגִּ֣יד לָהֶ֔ם מִ֗י יֵשֵׁ֛ב עַל־כִּסֵּ֥א אֲדֹנִֽי־הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ אַחֲרָֽיו׃

‎21 ‏וְהָיָ֕ה כִּשְׁכַ֥ב אֲדֹנִֽי־הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ עִם־אֲבֹתָ֑יו וְהָיִ֗יתִי אֲנִ֛י וּבְנִ֥י שְׁלֹמֹ֖ה חַטָּאִֽים׃

‎22 ‏וְהִנֵּ֛ה עוֹדֶ֥נָּה מְדַבֶּ֖רֶת עִם־הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ וְנָתָ֥ן הַנָּבִ֖יא בָּֽא׃

‎23 ‏וַיַּגִּ֤ידוּ לַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר הִנֵּ֖ה נָתָ֣ן הַנָּבִ֑יא וַיָּבֹא֙ לִפְנֵ֣י הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ וַיִּשְׁתַּ֧חוּ לַמֶּ֛לֶךְ עַל־אַפָּ֖יו אָֽרְצָה׃

‎24 ‏וַיֹּאמֶר֮ נָתָן֒ אֲדֹנִ֣י הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ אַתָּ֣ה אָמַ֔רְתָּ אֲדֹנִיָּ֖הוּ יִמְלֹ֣ךְ אַחֲרָ֑י וְה֖וּא יֵשֵׁ֥ב עַל־כִּסְאִֽי׃

‎25 ‏כִּ֣י׀ יָרַ֣ד הַיּ֗וֹם וַ֠יִּזְבַּח שׁ֥וֹר וּֽמְרִיא־וְצֹאן֮ לָרֹב֒ וַיִּקְרָא֩ לְכָל־בְּנֵ֨י הַמֶּ֜לֶךְ וּלְשָׂרֵ֤י הַצָּבָא֙ וּלְאֶבְיָתָ֣ר הַכֹּהֵ֔ן וְהִנָּ֛ם אֹכְלִ֥ים וְשֹׁתִ֖ים לְפָנָ֑יו וַיֹּ֣אמְר֔וּ יְחִ֖י הַמֶּ֥לֶךְ אֲדֹנִיָּֽהוּ׃

‎26 ‏וְלִ֣י אֲנִֽי־עַ֠בְדֶּךָ וּלְצָדֹ֨ק הַכֹּהֵ֜ן וְלִבְנָיָ֧הוּ בֶן־יְהוֹיָדָ֛ע וְלִשְׁלֹמֹ֥ה עַבְדְּךָ֖ לֹ֥א קָרָֽא׃

‎27 ‏אִ֗ם מֵאֵת֙ אֲדֹנִ֣י הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ נִהְיָ֖ה הַדָּבָ֣ר הַזֶּ֑ה וְלֹ֤א הוֹדַ֙עְתָּ֙ אֶֽת־עבדיך עַבְדְּךָ֔ מִ֗י יֵשֵׁ֛ב עַל־כִּסֵּ֥א אֲדֹנִֽי־הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ אַחֲרָֽיו׃ ס

‎28 ‏וַיַּ֨עַן הַמֶּ֤לֶךְ דָּוִד֙ וַיֹּ֔אמֶר קִרְאוּ־לִ֖י לְבַת־שָׁ֑בַע וַתָּבֹא֙ לִפְנֵ֣י הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ וַֽתַּעֲמֹ֖ד לִפְנֵ֥י הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃

‎29 ‏וַיִּשָּׁבַ֥ע הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ וַיֹּאמַ֑ר חַי־יְהוָ֕ה אֲשֶׁר־פָּדָ֥ה אֶת־נַפְשִׁ֖י מִכָּל־צָרָֽה׃

‎30 ‏כִּ֡י כַּאֲשֶׁר֩ נִשְׁבַּ֨עְתִּי לָ֜ךְ בַּיהוָ֨ה אֱלֹהֵ֤י יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר כִּֽי־שְׁלֹמֹ֤ה בְנֵךְ֙ יִמְלֹ֣ךְ אַחֲרַ֔י וְה֛וּא יֵשֵׁ֥ב עַל־כִּסְאִ֖י תַּחְתָּ֑י כִּ֛י כֵּ֥ן אֶעֱשֶׂ֖ה הַיּ֥וֹם הַזֶּֽה׃

‎31 ‏וַתִּקֹּ֨ד בַּת־שֶׁ֤בַע אַפַּ֙יִם֙ אֶ֔רֶץ וַתִּשְׁתַּ֖חוּ לַמֶּ֑לֶךְ וַתֹּ֕אמֶר יְחִ֗י אֲדֹנִ֛י הַמֶּ֥לֶךְ דָּוִ֖ד לְעֹלָֽם׃ פ

‎32 ‏וַיֹּ֣אמֶר׀ הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ דָּוִ֗ד קִרְאוּ־לִ֞י לְצָד֤וֹק הַכֹּהֵן֙ וּלְנָתָ֣ן הַנָּבִ֔יא וְלִבְנָיָ֖הוּ בֶּן־יְהוֹיָדָ֑ע וַיָּבֹ֖אוּ לִפְנֵ֥י הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃

‎33 ‏וַיֹּ֨אמֶר הַמֶּ֜לֶךְ לָהֶ֗ם קְח֤וּ עִמָּכֶם֙ אֶת־עַבְדֵ֣י אֲדֹנֵיכֶ֔ם וְהִרְכַּבְתֶּם֙ אֶת־שְׁלֹמֹ֣ה בְנִ֔י עַל־הַפִּרְדָּ֖ה אֲשֶׁר־לִ֑י וְהוֹרַדְתֶּ֥ם אֹת֖וֹ אֶל־גִּחֽוֹן׃

‎34 ‏וּמָשַׁ֣ח אֹת֣וֹ שָׁ֠ם צָד֨וֹק הַכֹּהֵ֜ן וְנָתָ֧ן הַנָּבִ֛יא לְמֶ֖לֶךְ עַל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וּתְקַעְתֶּם֙ בַּשּׁוֹפָ֔ר וַאֲמַרְתֶּ֕ם יְחִ֖י הַמֶּ֥לֶךְ שְׁלֹמֹֽה׃

‎35 ‏וַעֲלִיתֶ֣ם אַחֲרָ֗יו וּבָא֙ וְיָשַׁ֣ב עַל־כִּסְאִ֔י וְה֥וּא יִמְלֹ֖ךְ תַּחְתָּ֑י וְאֹת֤וֹ צִוִּ֙יתִי֙ לִֽהְי֣וֹת נָגִ֔יד עַל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל וְעַל־יְהוּדָֽה׃

‎36 ‏וַיַּ֨עַן בְּנָיָ֧הוּ בֶן־יְהֽוֹיָדָ֛ע אֶת־הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר׀ אָמֵ֑ן כֵּ֚ן יֹאמַ֣ר יְהוָ֔ה אֱלֹהֵ֖י אֲדֹנִ֥י הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃

‎37 ‏כַּאֲשֶׁ֨ר הָיָ֤ה יְהוָה֙ עִם־אֲדֹנִ֣י הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ כֵּ֖ן יהי יִֽהְיֶ֣ה עִם־שְׁלֹמֹ֑ה וִֽיגַדֵּל֙ אֶת־כִּסְא֔וֹ מִ֨כִּסֵּ֔א אֲדֹנִ֖י הַמֶּ֥לֶךְ דָּוִֽד׃

‎38 ‏וַיֵּ֣רֶד צָד֣וֹק הַ֠כֹּהֵן וְנָתָ֨ן הַנָּבִ֜יא וּבְנָיָ֣הוּ בֶן־יְהוֹיָדָ֗ע וְהַכְּרֵתִי֙ וְהַפְּלֵתִ֔י וַיַּרְכִּ֙בוּ֙ אֶת־שְׁלֹמֹ֔ה עַל־פִּרְדַּ֖ת הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ דָּוִ֑ד וַיֹּלִ֥כוּ אֹת֖וֹ עַל־גִּחֽוֹן׃

‎39 ‏וַיִּקַּח֩ צָד֨וֹק הַכֹּהֵ֜ן אֶת־קֶ֤רֶן הַשֶּׁ֙מֶן֙ מִן־הָאֹ֔הֶל וַיִּמְשַׁ֖ח אֶת־שְׁלֹמֹ֑ה וַֽיִּתְקְעוּ֙ בַּשּׁוֹפָ֔ר וַיֹּֽאמְרוּ֙ כָּל־הָעָ֔ם יְחִ֖י הַמֶּ֥לֶךְ שְׁלֹמֹֽה׃

‎40 ‏וַיַּעֲל֤וּ כָל־הָעָם֙ אַֽחֲרָ֔יו וְהָעָם֙ מְחַלְּלִ֣ים בַּחֲלִלִ֔ים וּשְׂמֵחִ֖ים שִׂמְחָ֣ה גְדוֹלָ֑ה וַתִּבָּקַ֥ע הָאָ֖רֶץ בְּקוֹלָֽם׃

‎41 ‏וַיִּשְׁמַ֣ע אֲדֹנִיָּ֗הוּ וְכָל־הַקְּרֻאִים֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר אִתּ֔וֹ וְהֵ֖ם כִּלּ֣וּ לֶאֱכֹ֑ל וַיִּשְׁמַ֤ע יוֹאָב֙ אֶת־ק֣וֹל הַשּׁוֹפָ֔ר וַיֹּ֕אמֶר מַדּ֥וּעַ קֽוֹל־הַקִּרְיָ֖ה הוֹמָֽה׃

‎42 ‏עוֹדֶ֣נּוּ מְדַבֵּ֔ר וְהִנֵּ֧ה יוֹנָתָ֛ן בֶּן־אֶבְיָתָ֥ר הַכֹּהֵ֖ן בָּ֑א וַיֹּ֤אמֶר אֲדֹנִיָּ֙הוּ֙ בֹּ֔א כִּ֣י אִ֥ישׁ חַ֛יִל אַ֖תָּה וְט֥וֹב תְּבַשֵּֽׂר׃

‎43 ‏וַיַּ֙עַן֙ יוֹנָתָ֔ן וַיֹּ֖אמֶר לַאֲדֹנִיָּ֑הוּ אֲבָ֕ל אֲדֹנֵ֥ינוּ הַמֶּֽלֶךְ־דָּוִ֖ד הִמְלִ֥יךְ אֶת־שְׁלֹמֹֽה׃

‎44 ‏וַיִּשְׁלַ֣ח אִתּֽוֹ־הַ֠מֶּלֶךְ אֶת־צָד֨וֹק הַכֹּהֵ֜ן וְאֶת־נָתָ֣ן הַנָּבִ֗יא וּבְנָיָ֙הוּ֙ בֶּן־יְה֣וֹיָדָ֔ע וְהַכְּרֵתִ֖י וְהַפְּלֵתִ֑י וַיַּרְכִּ֣בוּ אֹת֔וֹ עַ֖ל פִּרְדַּ֥ת הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃

‎45 ‏וַיִּמְשְׁח֣וּ אֹת֡וֹ צָד֣וֹק הַכֹּהֵ֣ן וְנָתָן֩ הַנָּבִ֨יא לְמֶ֜לֶךְ בְּגִח֗וֹן וַיַּעֲל֤וּ מִשָּׁם֙ שְׂמֵחִ֔ים וַתֵּהֹ֖ם הַקִּרְיָ֑ה ה֥וּא הַקּ֖וֹל אֲשֶׁ֥ר שְׁמַעְתֶּֽם׃

‎46 ‏וְגַם֙ יָשַׁ֣ב שְׁלֹמֹ֔ה עַ֖ל כִּסֵּ֥א הַמְּלוּכָֽה׃

‎47 ‏וְגַם־בָּ֜אוּ עַבְדֵ֣י הַמֶּ֗לֶךְ לְ֠בָרֵךְ אֶת־אֲדֹנֵ֜ינוּ הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ דָּוִד֮ לֵאמֹר֒ יֵיטֵ֨ב אלהיך אֱלֹהִ֜ים אֶת־שֵׁ֤ם שְׁלֹמֹה֙ מִשְּׁמֶ֔ךָ וִֽיגַדֵּ֥ל אֶת־כִּסְא֖וֹ מִכִּסְאֶ֑ךָ וַיִּשְׁתַּ֥חוּ הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ עַל־הַמִּשְׁכָּֽב׃

‎48 ‏וְגַם־כָּ֖כָה אָמַ֣ר הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ בָּר֨וּךְ יְהוָ֜ה אֱלֹהֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל אֲשֶׁ֨ר נָתַ֥ן הַיּ֛וֹם יֹשֵׁ֥ב עַל־כִּסְאִ֖י וְעֵינַ֥י רֹאֽוֹת׃

‎49 ‏וַיֶּֽחֶרְדוּ֙ וַיָּקֻ֔מוּ כָּל־הַ֨קְּרֻאִ֔ים אֲשֶׁ֖ר לַאֲדֹנִיָּ֑הוּ וַיֵּלְכ֖וּ אִ֥ישׁ לְדַרְכּֽוֹ׃

‎50 ‏וַאֲדֹ֣נִיָּ֔הוּ יָרֵ֖א מִפְּנֵ֣י שְׁלֹמֹ֑ה וַיָּ֣קָם וַיֵּ֔לֶךְ וַֽיַּחֲזֵ֖ק בְּקַרְנ֥וֹת הַמִּזְבֵּֽחַ׃

‎51 ‏וַיֻּגַּ֤ד לִשְׁלֹמֹה֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר הִנֵּה֙ אֲדֹ֣נִיָּ֔הוּ יָרֵ֖א אֶת־הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ שְׁלֹמֹ֑ה וְ֠הִנֵּה אָחַ֞ז בְּקַרְנ֤וֹת הַמִּזְבֵּ֙חַ֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר יִשָּֽׁבַֽע־לִ֤י כַיּוֹם֙ הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ שְׁלֹמֹ֔ה אִם־יָמִ֥ית אֶת־עַבְדּ֖וֹ בֶּחָֽרֶב׃

‎52 ‏וַיֹּ֣אמֶר שְׁלֹמֹ֔ה אִ֚ם יִהְיֶ֣ה לְבֶן־חַ֔יִל לֹֽא־יִפֹּ֥ל מִשַּׂעֲרָת֖וֹ אָ֑רְצָה וְאִם־רָעָ֥ה תִמָּצֵא־ב֖וֹ וָמֵֽת׃

‎53 ‏וַיִּשְׁלַ֞ח הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ שְׁלֹמֹ֗ה וַיֹּרִדֻ֙הוּ֙ מֵעַ֣ל הַמִּזְבֵּ֔חַ וַיָּבֹ֕א וַיִּשְׁתַּ֖חוּ לַמֶּ֣לֶךְ שְׁלֹמֹ֑ה וַיֹּֽאמֶר־ל֥וֹ שְׁלֹמֹ֖ה לֵ֥ךְ לְבֵיתֶֽךָ׃ פ

1 Et rex David senuerat, habebatque ætatis plurimos dies: cumque operiretur vestibus, non calefiebat.

2 Dixerunt ergo ei servi sui: Quæramus domino nostro regi adolescentulam virginem, et stet coram rege, et foveat eum, dormiatque in sinu suo, et calefaciat dominum nostrum regem.

3 Quæsierunt igitur adolescentulam speciosam in omnibus finibus Israël, et invenerunt Abisag Sunamitidem, et adduxerunt eam ad regem.

4 Erat autem puella pulchra nimis, dormiebatque cum rege, et ministrabat ei: rex vero non cognovit eam.

5 Adonias autem filius Haggith elevabatur, dicens: Ego regnabo. Fecitque sibi currus et equites, et quinquaginta viros qui currerent ante eum.

6 Nec corripuit eum pater suus aliquando, dicens: Quare hoc fecisti? Erat autem et ipse pulcher valde, secundus natu post Absalom.

7 Et sermo ei cum Joab filio Sarviæ, et cum Abiathar sacerdote, qui adjuvabant partes Adoniæ.

8 Sadoc vero sacerdos, et Banaias filius Jojadæ, et Nathan propheta, et Semei et Rei, et robur exercitus David, non erat cum Adonia.

9 Immolatis ergo Adonias arietibus et vitulis, et universis pinguibus, juxta lapidem Zoheleth, qui erat vicinus fonti Rogel, vocavit universos fratres suos filios regis, et omnes viros Juda servos regis.

10 Nathan autem prophetam, et Banaiam, et robustos quosque, et Salomonem fratrem suum non vocavit.

11 Dixit itaque Nathan ad Bethsabee matrem Salomonis: Num audisti quod regnaverit Adonias filius Haggith, et dominus noster David hoc ignorat?

12 Nunc ergo veni, accipe consilium a me, et salva animam tuam, filiique tui Salomonis.

13 Vade, et ingredere ad regem David, et dic ei: Nonne tu, domine mi rex, jurasti mihi ancillæ tuæ, dicens: Salomon filius tuus regnabit post me, et ipse sedebit in solio meo? quare ergo regnat Adonias?

14 Et adhuc ibi te loquente cum rege, ego veniam post te, et complebo sermones tuos.

15 Ingressa est itaque Bethsabee ad regem in cubiculum: rex autem senuerat nimis, et Abisag Sunamitis ministrabat ei.

16 Inclinavit se Bethsabee, et adoravit regem. Ad quam rex: Quid tibi, inquit, vis?

17 Quæ respondens, ait: Domine mi, tu jurasti per Dominum Deum tuum ancillæ tuæ: Salomon filius tuus regnabit post me, et ipse sedebit in solio meo.

18 Et ecce nunc Adonias regnat, te, domine mi rex, ignorante.

19 Mactavit boves, et pinguia quæque, et arietes plurimos, et vocavit omnes filios regis, Abiathar quoque sacerdotem, et Joab principem militiæ: Salomonem autem servum tuum non vocavit.

20 Verumtamen, domine mi rex, in te oculi respiciunt totius Israël, ut indices eis quis sedere debeat in solio tuo, domine mi rex, post te.

21 Eritque, cum dormierit dominus meus rex cum patribus suis, erimus ego et filius meus Salomon peccatores.

22 Adhuc illa loquente cum rege, Nathan propheta venit.

23 Et nuntiaverunt regi, dicentes: Adest Nathan propheta. Cumque introisset in conspectu regis, et adorasset eum pronus in terram,

24 dixit Nathan: Domine mi rex, tu dixisti: Adonias regnet post me, et ipse sedeat super thronum meum?

25 Quia descendit hodie, et immolavit boves, et pinguia, et arietes plurimos, et vocavit universos filios regis et principes exercitus, Abiathar quoque sacerdotem, illisque vescentibus et bibentibus coram eo, et dicentibus: Vivat rex Adonias:

26 me servum tuum, et Sadoc sacerdotem, et Banaiam filium Jojadæ, et Salomonem famulum tuum non vocavit.

27 Numquid a domino meo rege exivit hoc verbum, et mihi non indicasti servo tuo quis sessurus esset super thronum domini mei regis post eum?

28 Et respondit rex David, dicens: Vocate ad me Bethsabee. Quæ cum fuisset ingressa coram rege, et stetisset ante eum,

29 juravit rex, et ait: Vivit Dominus, qui eruit animam meam de omni angustia,

30 quia sicut juravi tibi per Dominum Deum Israël, dicens: Salomon filius tuus regnabit post me, et ipse sedebit super solium meum pro me: sic faciam hodie.

31 Summissoque Bethsabee in terram vultu, adoravit regem, dicens: Vivat dominus meus David in æternum.

32 Dixit quoque rex David: Vocate mihi Sadoc sacerdotem, et Nathan prophetam, et Banaiam filium Jojadæ. Qui cum ingressi fuissent coram rege,

33 dixit ad eos: Tollite vobiscum servos domini vestri, et imponite Salomonem filium meum super mulam meam, et ducite eum in Gihon.

34 Et ungat eum ibi Sadoc sacerdos et Nathan propheta in regem super Israël: et canetis buccina, atque dicetis: Vivat rex Salomon.

35 Et ascendetis post eum, et veniet, et sedebit super solium meum, et ipse regnabit pro me: illique præcipiam ut sit dux super Israël et super Judam.

36 Et respondit Banaias filius Jojadæ regi, dicens: Amen: sic loquatur Dominus Deus domini mei regis.

37 Quomodo fuit Dominus cum domino meo rege, sic sit cum Salomone, et sublimius faciat solium ejus a solio domini mei regis David.

38 Descendit ergo Sadoc sacerdos, et Nathan propheta, et Banaias filius Jojadæ, et Cerethi, et Phelethi: et imposuerunt Salomonem super mulam regis David, et adduxerunt eum in Gihon.

39 Sumpsitque Sadoc sacerdos cornu olei de tabernaculo, et unxit Salomonem: et cecinerunt buccina, et dixit omnis populus: Vivat rex Salomon.

40 Et ascendit universa multitudo post eum, et populus canentium tibiis, et lætantium gaudio magno: et insonuit terra a clamore eorum.

41 Audivit autem Adonias, et omnes qui invitati fuerant ab eo: jamque convivium finitum erat: sed et Joab, audita voce tubæ, ait: Quid sibi vult clamor civitatis tumultuantis?

42 Adhuc illo loquente, Jonathas filius Abiathar sacerdotis venit: cui dixit Adonias: Ingredere, quia vir fortis es, et bona nuntians.

43 Responditque Jonathas Adoniæ: Nequaquam: dominus enim noster rex David regem constituit Salomonem:

44 misitque cum eo Sadoc sacerdotem, et Nathan prophetam, et Banaiam filium Jojadæ, et Cerethi, et Phelethi, et imposuerunt eum super mulam regis.

45 Unxeruntque eum Sadoc sacerdos et Nathan propheta regem in Gihon: et ascenderunt inde lætantes, et insonuit civitas: hæc est vox quam audistis.

46 Sed et Salomon sedet super solium regni.

47 Et ingressi servi regis benedixerunt domino nostro regi David, dicentes: Amplificet Deus nomen Salomonis super nomen tuum, et magnificet thronus ejus super thronum tuum. Et adoravit rex in lectulo suo:

48 et locutus est: Benedictus Dominus Deus Israël, qui dedit hodie sedentem in solio meo, videntibus oculis meis.

49 Territi sunt ergo, et surrexerunt omnes qui invitati fuerant ab Adonia, et ivit unusquisque in viam suam.

50 Adonias autem timens Salomonem, surrexit, et abiit, tenuitque cornu altaris.

51 Et nuntiaverunt Salomoni, dicentes: Ecce Adonias timens regem Salomonem, tenuit cornu altaris, dicens: Juret mihi rex Salomon hodie, quod non interficiat servum suum gladio.

52 Dixitque Salomon: Si fuerit vir bonus, non cadet ne unus quidem capillus ejus in terram: sin autem malum inventum fuerit in eo, morietur.

53 Misit ergo rex Salomon, et eduxit eum ab altari: et ingressus adoravit regem Salomonem: dixitque ei Salomon: Vade in domum tuam.
